How can anyone plan that far ahead? Enough short term challenges to address currently.0

Surely you're not so fully occupied with short term challenges that you can't find time to plant a few trees? Everyone else manages it.

How far to plan ahead and what plans to execute is always a tricky one. As evidenced here on MSE, you can get a hundred and one suggestions from a hundred posters.
The wisest quite often change their plans.
I don't know what the latin for "there has been a change of plan" is these days, but a lesson from the French in the mid 17th century is well worth some thought.A Monsieur Colbert persuaded the king to plant oak forests and properly manage existing oak stands, to ensure future supplies of oak for a fleet to rule the world with, and enough staves to make the barrels for the provisions needed on board.
Well, those forests still exist in France..._0 -
The future is uncertain. Always has been. Nobody avoids making plans because of this.DiggerUK said:How far to plan ahead and what plans to execute is always a tricky one. As evidenced here on MSE, you can get a hundred and one suggestions from a hundred posters.

Another really tough day in the markets. I just saw a man crying into his avocado sandwich wondering how he is going to explain the performance of his global investments to his wife and kids. It was only 2 weeks ago he told them they couldn't afford the latest playstation... how will they take the news? Will they ever trust him again?

We just need a new vaccine announced every week to keep the momentum going.

Maybe this thread should be re-titled Covid Vaccine Boom #1.2

If it hadn't been for those meddling scientists and their pesky vaccine we'd be deep in the middle of Covid Crash #2.

Hence the old wise words. Bull markets are born on pessimism, grow on scepticism, mature on optimism and die on euphoria.Alexland said:Another really tough day in the markets. I'm sure something bad will come along to make up for it, we've got brexit/brino to look forward to & that is the gift that will keep on giving.Sailtheworld said:If it hadn't been for those meddling scientists and their pesky vaccine we'd be deep in the middle of Covid Crash #2.0
