Not really, because it is your case
Cut out any waffle, dont repeat anything, and summarise where you can.

Today, I just received a letter from CEL stating they discontinued proceedings for their claim. They filled in a Notice of Discontinuance (Form: N279) and sent it to the courts and provided a copy to me which is great news.
Do I have to do anything else or do I just have to wait to hear back from the courts for this confirmation?
Thank you for you continuous support, it has been invaluable.

Yay, ANOTHER CEL ONE BITES THE DUST!

Hang on though, your thread title says this was a CCJ at first - was it, and did you get your costs awarded already?

Hi Coupon-mad, yes it is a CCJ and this was issued to "me" in May 2018 and the incident happened in May 2017. However, I was never aware of it until I went for a credit check last year as it was served to a previous address. The only costs I have incurred at the moment is £255 for the N244 form, hours looking on this forum and developing my various bundles. The PCN and now the subsequent CCJ requests  £350 plus however, as this is now discontinued, I assume these costs are wiped now, no?

Prior to my first hearing due in March 2021, CEL had until mid February to pay the £25 fee to take to the small claims court. However, this week they issued a N279 form to discontinue the claim.

Sorry If I provided a lot more information but I thought it would be useful to provide some context as I am not hundred percent what you are asking for. I have not been awarded any costs, I am out of pocket for the £255 for the N244 form (set a aside application). I have not been to court yet as my first hearing looks like it will be cancelled following this recent events this week of the N279 discontinue form from CEL.

What did the Order from the court, when it set aside the judgment, say?

This is the only communication that I have had from the Courts/Judge about what is ordered (see below). This was part of the letter from the Courts requesting that CEL has until mid Feb 2021 to pay the £25 fee and  provide their application otherwise, it will be struck off.

  • Damn
I am assuming yoiu didnt file the usual draft order, or the Court didnt use it? That includes provision for repayment of cost of set aside if the C discontinues
You could write to the Hearing court and ask if they will consent to a costgs order being granted following the claimants decision only now to discontinue? Worth a try
