Thanks Julie - Good luck to you too - I don't envy you, at least we don't have any students in this week and are all set up ready for online teaching.
Talking of which, I've written the majority of the lessons for this week and have sent the Microsoft Teams invitations to all my classes, so I'm pretty much ready. I'm also all sorted for the INSET tomorrow. Had a Zoom meeting this morning with the rest of the SLT team and if nothing changes between now and the end of the week we know what we're doing - famous last words.....
We'll see if the promised testing equipment turns up tomorrow as Gav and Boris have insisted that it will......
Anyway, other than school stuff, I've got everything else ready for tomorrow, done a little grocery shop at the Tesco Metro near me to stop me spending more than I needed to at a big supermarket, put diesel in and transferred the money from the holding account for it, done a big hour long walk with the dog in the sunshine (still freezing cold though) and another after tea walk, ordered a load of stuff from Amazon for my sister (who's now a professional shielder, bless her) to keep her occupied, ordered mum's birthday presents from sister and myself, cleaned the kitchen and bathrooms, done a face mask and had a tidy out of the tins and packets kitchen cupboard. I'm ashamed to say that there were items in there that were older than some of the kids that I teach!!!
Have also made tea from all of the aging bits from the fridge to use them up, and very nice it was too.
Going to watch a bit of telly and have a earlyish night - here we go again tomorrow - good luck to all school staff going back....7 -
Whoops!
Buffy, Juicy. Savingholmes and Enthusiastic - you were all hiding on the next page and I didn't see your posts until my last one was posted.
Thank you all for your comments - its great to think that somebody is actually reading my wittering on and endless lists!3 -
I thoroughly enjoy your posts, although sometimes they make me feel lazy! I am from tomorrow going to take a leaf out of your book and write myself a daily task list - we shall see how that goes!! Hope your week goes well x5

mumblingtaff said:savingholmes said:How much £ do you need to afford your lifestyle change and how much will you release by selling your house / other means?
That's enough to allow me to have a month or two off to settle in and start building a small business, whilst supplementing my income with some part time supply work.
With no mortgage I've estimated my monthly outgoings (household, car etc) as no more than £900. If I can get rid of my car (its still on a contract for the next year) and downsize it that will significantly reduce. It's the only thing I'll really miss - I do love my car and its completely affordable now but would be a luxury then. Needs must though.....
So, its all doable but will take some adjustment

Thank you DesigningaLife - I never knew that! Really useful!
So, I'm sorry I haven't posted all week but its been a bit of a weird one. Back to work with a bang. INSET on Monday went really well, even though the vast majority of the staff were working remotely - lots of good feedback, so a good start to the term.
Then online teaching and learning started in full swing on Tuesday (we're teaching all years not just year 11) and a million meetings to top it all off. I was in school every day this week except Thursday (but that was a full day from home instead - nice change though, got lots done).
Its been a bit of a funny old week but not a bad one - just different....
We have at least 5 more weeks of this so better get used to it. We'll be on rota as senior staff from next week - I'm in officially for two days a week and working from home the other 3. Mondays and Thursdays are my days at work so it will break up the week nicely. Could be worse....
Dad had a bit of a funny turn today and ended up at the GPs who then made him an appointment at the hospital for an immediate ultrasound scan to look for a blood clot in his leg but, thankfully, nothing found. He's home again now but very tired - just needs to take it easy and get his blood pressure tablets sorted out, fingers crossed. Mum was absolutely terrified about him going to the hospital with COVID being so prevalent in their area and a bit hysterical but she seems to have calmed down a bit now. He does have prostate cancer though (its been controlled for a number of years) so it is a worry. Need to be all calm and practical for them as they just don't seem to cope with anything anymore sadly.
I'm having a rest tonight - telly, wine and tea, with a finale of Gogglebox if I last that long7 -
Glad your dad is home again but must have been concerning for you too. Glad it's finally the weekend.Achieve FIRE/Mortgage Neutrality in 2030
