Hi Sunshinegirl - I'll be in bed by 10 too!
Well, had another busy day - after a very snowy play in the park for a freezing hour with the dog I came home for a hot bath to thaw out.
Then decided to tackle the en suite painting - it took virtually all day - surprising amount of time but there are loads of fiddly bits but its done now. I need to do the skirtings tomorrow once everything else is dry but it looks much better and nice and fresh. Also took the dog for a long walk late afternoon to tire him out - he's fast asleep now so mission accomplished!
I've started a shopping list and done a teeny bit of school work including talking to my boss for half an hour - I'm in school all week next week helping to prep for the COVID testing and teaching online. We're teaching all year groups online from the word go (and so we should, its all set up ready to go so there's no reason not to). Most staff, however, will work from home.
This evening will consist of cooking a nice tea, drinking some wine and being in bed by 10ish.
Here's to a better New Year. Hope everyone has a peaceful evening (at home!) and that tomorrow brings a healthier, happier start to 2021.
Take care everyone xx

Had to update before the year is out - just looked at my Strava app running/walking stats for the year.
I've done 1350km this year - 800 km of which has been running, even though I was on crutches for a month or so
I often forget to record walking unless its a big one of at least an hour so its not an accurate reflection of the real distance covered but, still, I'm happy enough with that.
That's an average of running 15km a week, for 52 weeks of the year.
Well chuffed with that, considering this mental year.
Next year I aim to run 1000km - need to crack on from tomorrow if its not too icy/snowy.
Off to eat chocolate now.....

Happy New Year!
It can't be any worse can it!!?? Think we're in for a miserable Jan/Feb but hopefully things will start to ease off following that - if people are sensible !
Anyway, loads of fireworks at midnight woke me up and the dog wasn't impressed either but thankfully they didn't go on for too long.
Got up at 6am, faffed about a bit and then went for a run with the dog when it got light. Not a massively long one but a run all the same - wanted to test out my new Garmin watch properly, and, after a tussle with getting the settings right, have decided that its brilliant - sad really what you get excited about isn't it! Got up feeling bloated, fat and sluggish so it did me good to get moving - feel a lot better now, although I still have a bit more padding than I did a couple of weeks ago. Need to shift that.....
Have had a nice soak in the bath and done a bit of preening and so look a bit better now too
Have a few things on the agenda for today.....- Touch up en suite painting now its all dry and I can see areas that might need a quick second coat
- Paint the skirtings in the en suite - hopefully shouldn't take too long
- Finish my work for the INSET on Monday
- Fix the curtain pole in the spare room - have had a look at it and it shouldn't be too bad and will save me from buying a new blind
- Phone the clan
- Finish the shopping list
- Sort out what's left in the fridge and see what needs binning/eating
- Take the dog for a big walk this afternoon

I've managed all the jobs on the list but have got fed up with school work - just not in the mood for it yet.
Been for an hour long brisk walk with the dog too - the sun came out and was a nice dose of fresh air and exercise.
Just thinking about the coming year and what a difference it will make to everything.
New home, new location (but an old familiar one too), different career/job, close to family bringing more responsibilities, different level of income and adapting to that, making new friends, finding new interests.......
The only constant will be me, the dog and our lovely little bond.
It's a bit daunting but exciting at the same time. Will just have to take it one step at a time. I'm good at organising and planning and generally fairly motivated once an idea is in my head.
I'm not happy doing what I'm doing and there's nothing really to keep me here other than a few friends so a fresh start and a second (or third more accurately if we're talking careers) bite of the cherry is the way forward, even if it is a bit scary.
After the year we've all had I think I should live for today because you just don't know what's around the corner. Carpe diem and all that.......
So, the plan for January is to finish off the little bits that need doing in the house and decorate the spare room - its as much as I'm going to do to it before selling it. Then get the valuations done (16th and 23rd), evaluate the COVID situation and how realistic it is to put the house on the market and buy a new one considering its 250 miles away (). Then, if it all looks doable, resign at Feb half term - that seems very close now - just 6 weeks away......and finish on April 30th (just after the Easter hols).
Worse case scenario and it all still looks grim then I'll have to wait until May to resign and leave in July. The only benefit from that situation is getting paid until August and being able to save more and have a bit more additional time to move, It's annoying that I can't just make a decision and do it but I have to be sensible.
In the meantime, I can research the current offering for what I'd like to do business wise and think about what would make me different - my USP - and how to achieve it.
Other than that little lot (!) I have a few more things that I'd like to achieve this year - they're not resolutions, more like goals really........- Run 1000km over the year
- Give up the completely pointless and expensive secret smoking
- Sleep more and stop stressing about work - might be easier now I know its not forever
Two more days before going back to the slog and, when I reflect on the Xmas break, it could have been a lot worse - Xmas was odd but I got through it unscathed and I've actually done tons of things in the house to keep myself busy but its been useful and productive. We've had a weird one but its over now and things can only get better (eventually!)
