Is it diesel or petrol? If petrol, it won't be an ex-taxi. What is the mileage?

I am considering buying a used car, a Skoda Octavia, which is 3 years old this month. I know that it's first MOT was due this month. I checked its history on DVLA website, and it has already had, and passed, 5 MOTs!

The first one was June 18, then another in Sept.19. Then a third in May 19, another a month later in  June 19, and finally another in Jan 20.

Seems very odd to me. I don't think it's been a taxi as the mileage is low, and corresponds to the mileage on the various MOTs. I can't ask the owner as the car is for sale at auction.

Does anyone have any idea of circumstances that would explain the need for all these MOTs?
It's odd timings, too. If it was a taxi, the tests would likely need to be six months apart...

    First reg - Oct 17
    Test 1 - June 18 (8mo)
    Test 2 - Sept 18 (3mo)
    Test 3 - May 19 (11mo)
    Test 4 - Jun 19 (1mo)
    Test 5 - Jan 20 (7mo)

The most likely explanation, strange as it may sound, is a paranoid owner who somehow felt the need to put it through a lot of unnecessary MOTs. There's nothing to stop anybody testing a car the day after it's delivered new, of course, and every day thereafter...

Have you googled the registration? Feel free to PM me the plate, and I'll do a little digging, if you want...

A friend of ours has an ex-paramedic Octy estate. Google the plate, there's pics of it in full livery attending various events. But it's obvious to look at... Electric hookup in one back wing, white with yellow mirrors, various holes here and there for lights and aerials...

The simplest explanation might be that you've taken down the reg no. incorrectly.

Could have changed hands a lot, with a "full" MOT each time......
Just avoid it, you could be missing the bargain of the century, as others will be put off too, or you could be buying a real lemon.

I'm sure Skoda made more than just the one, there should be loads more around that don't have a suspicious history.

I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

I don't think a Skoda Octavia is big enough to be a former ambulance
    EDIT: or maybe yellow?

Why isn't AMBULANCE written in mirror image on the front of that bonnet? The whole photo can't be back to front because the  reg number isn't mirror imaged.
I don't know.  Feel free to submit a question to LAS.
The OP asked about why a car might have been MOT'd before three years old and very frequently.
The OP had dismissed the possibility of being a former taxi
I suggested use as an Ambulance (though now realise that the MOT dates don't seem to support that).
The OP said an Octavia Estate is too small to be an Ambulance.
I simply provided the picture to show where the type of car has been used as an Ambulance, in the guise of rapid response vehicles.

Is there a requirement for it to be?

I wouldn't post MY reg! Sorry. No, NOT sorry! Because it's nobody else's business and I'm sure the OP can investigate just as well as anyone else on here.

I think that mileage is quite high. My car was 4 years old when I bought it last year and mileage was 23,400.
