Aerial setup - what is labgear box in loft?

Good evening all can you please help.
Does anyone know what this black box in my loft is?
I’m struggling to get good tv signal when I connect my tv two tv points - living room and one bedroom.
I get all the freeview channels in one room which has a different type of connection

Many thanks in advance

Labgear was founded in Cambridge, England, over sixty years ago and its expertise is in developing and producing high quality aerial and other reception equipment.

Its most likely a splitter if it feeds to two separate wall mounts/

It looks as though it's an aerial booster.
I imagine the bottom cable is the input and the top two are the outputs.
There shouldn't be much quality difference between the two types of connections, so maybe there is a connection issue behind the connection plate, or the cable you use to connect to it maybe isn't great.

With what looks like up to four possible outputs, more likely a distribution amplifier.

Its likely to be a dist amp where is it getting its power from? - it will either have been fed by a transformer near it in the loft or it may have been fed injection on to one of the input cables - perhaps removed by a previous owner.
If the plastic case will open a picture of the insides will help.

Thank you all for your responses. At the moment it is not plugged into anything- is it supposed to be?
I will check to see if it can be opened

Is there a model number on the box.
  • Look for a connector where a power supply could be inserted, that'll give you a clue as to whether it's just a passive splitter or has an amplifier inside.

Unfortunately there is no label on it so I’m unable to provide the. One of the cables has 534B on it

I’ve not sure if something should be connected to the two slots highlighted

Where is the aerial in the loft or on the roof? Where does the aerial plug into on that box, if at all?
Does the box have a power input that it is missing?
Where do the black cables go to from the box?
