When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important 😀

Morning folks!
Hope that I haven't cross-posted! Bit of an expensive day yesterday as we bit the bullet and went shopping for our new mattress. Def time for a new one though - ours is 10 years old now and has a significant dip where my ample bottom lies
On the plus side, we identified the one we'd like to try before we went in, laid on it, liked it, paid for it and we were in and out in 20 minutes!
@alt80 oh dear - sounds like pumpkin picking isn't your thing! I'm sure your f-i-l was just trying to be kind.
My OH and I started going pumpkin picking a couple of years ago and it turns out he really likes it (although he is a bit reticent about mud too). Then we have a competition of who can carve the best pumpkin. My previous offerings include Jack Skellington and the Corpse Bride. OH did Guyver one year! We were watching Halloween movies last night and deciding what our pumpkins would be this year. I think mine will be a Hocus Pocus one. We can't even claim it's for the kids because we don't have any. I also kinda like getting muddy too (although OH washes the car not me!). I'm always getting covered in muck in the garden/allotment but I was a mucky pup even when I was little.
Ooooof well another week started eh? WFH today which is just as well as OH and I had a bottle of red wine between us last night and it didn't agree with him so we had a bit of a disturbed night. Here's today's list:
B/L/D from stores
Workout either at lunchtime or after work
Pop a wash on as I'm at home
Bit of knitting later - need to make the heel flap on this sock
Try to keep heating off, house is on the cusp of being too cool but if I pop the heating on it's hot.
Have a good one all

Morning CLF
thanks for starting the thread. Pumpkins sound fun - you cooky kid!
@alt80 only you know your fil but it seems to me like he was being kind paying for the trip. I nearly always pay for my adult dd who actually has more money than I do. My ex-mil used to always pay for me and my current inlaws will 9 times out of 10 pay for us, athough I try to insist we pay our share.
I'm off work today and madam is going to dd's for a few days. I need to get her bag packed up. Meeting them in town to hand over. Will call in at lidl on way home for some milk and a loaf of bread
* do TOMM when I'm back

* send a pattern to oh to print off - decided against this as have 1 thing I want to make before I make this dress

* lunch is portion of BNS soup made last week

Morning all!
Still not decided on my goals for this week, I am meant to be going on holiday to Scotland on Sunday but i'm not sure if it'll go ahead. I've made loads of soup however my stomach is in knots (mums cancer op today) since last night, so I haven't eaten and the thought of getting a packup together this morning was not for me. This is the longest day ever, I'm at work as i thought it was best to be busy but i cried all the way here and wish I was hibernating under my duvet from this big scary world.
Will get something diet friendly ish from the canteen as a token gesture towards fuelling my body, and between running around after work from dogs to hospital i dont think i'll have time to spend!
Sending everyone positive DFW vibes for the week ahead xx6 -
@AdsWhoAdds - will be thinking of you and your DM. Have you got a nice colleague that you could go for a little walk with at lunchtime perhaps?LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.316

Afternoon all
((Hugs)) @AdsWhoAdds thinking of you and your Mum.Thanks for starting us off CLF
Well, due to a 'distribution issue' at Screwfix I still have a washing machine in the middle of the kitchen floor, inaccessible cupboards and an overflowing washing basket
I have ordered the part from ebay in case Screwfix's issues continue for more than the couple of days it will take to arrive....I have done some housework - I can't do anything about the washing machine being in the way, or the contents of the kitchen cupboards being all over the place etc, but I could clean the bathroom and hoover the floors
I have / will also:Pack stuff for my sales unit into the car ready to take down there tomorrowCompost the aubergine plants as they really are past it now. Got 3 small aubergines to add to tonight's dinnerPack 2 ebay items and print out form for post officeCook a tray of roasted veg with sausages for dinnerStove alight now, as it is getting chilly. Don't need the heating on all over the house, but it is nice to have somewhere warm to sit. The dog definitely approves - he is currently spreadeagled across the hearthrug, or a small section of it at least. It will be a rude awakening when it is time for his walk in about half an hour

Oh @DawnW - how frustrating! If you lived near me I'd say bring me the washing but it's quite a long way to send it!LBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.315

I get paid on Wednesday. This is my first payday when l will be using virtual pots for budgeting everything and all remaining monies will have paid off the loan. I am aiming to clear it by next Christmas, it's very ambitious but even if l don't make it l will be much better off than l am now.
I have some Ebay sales to pack up and l have some Christmas presents to finish knitting.
Shopping coming tomorrow, only £45 spent including delivery. My freezer list is paying off! Butternut squash soup in the slow cooker at the moment for lunch tomorrow and spare for freezing.
Heating is on for a short burst at the moment. I bought a Teddy throw from Elm Mill Dun, £8, so warm it was a bargain!5
