Well its Friday, postman has been and still no cheque.
Really taking the mickey now this is.
Well ihad to go out before the postman turned up, will find out if its arrived or not when i get home,

Though when I rang they did say monday at the latest.

    So they've got till then.
  • well, not long got back & surprise surprise, no cheque,
well they said monday at the latest so if it's not here by then thats when the fun begins.
  • just wondering if anyone knew how long it takes the F.O.S to step in on a complaint?
when i rang them the other week they said i would have to wait 28 working days from the date i received the final decision letter, ring black horse again, wait another 28 days for them to issue another cheque & if that didn't arrive in that time i would have to wait another 6 weeks before i could ask them to step in, & then wait as they were very bust with a large back log.

this is getting to me now as i started this claim on 23 april 2018!! & according to the FOS it should take 8 weeks start to finish, i don't call 2.5yr's (nearly 30 months!!!) 8 weeks do you?

anyone got any advise on the next steps if the cheque isn't here on monday??
  • If the cheque hasn't arrived by monday, under FCA guidance (and BH have indicated this too me too) then you can request/insist that payment is made via BACS. No more waiting for cheque or 28 days to reissue, just get BACS payment instead.
They only do this in extreme cases like what we are experiencing.

That sounds like plan if attack

I'll wait to see if it appears on Monday & no sign I'll call them & ask about bacs, as my bank account is with Lloyds which BH are part of.
  • Just a thought,

Where would I stand in regards to a BACS payment in lieu of the cheque in relation to hardship?

Let me explain, I am on carer's allowance & iidb & income support,

The reason I ask is because a few days before the the cheque was meant to arrive my car failed its mot (miserably), so, thinking the cheq8would be there by the date they stated I scrapped the car & used the money from that as a deposit on another car from a friend of mine on the understanding that the cheque would be with me by a set date & cleared a week later & that I would pay the rest of the amount I owed him then.

Well now because the cheque never arrived I've had to return the car to him, but what makes it worse for me is because I am a carer for a family member who live in a town down the road I was dependant on the car & I am currently having to use the bus every day to go look after them,

This is costing me nearly £50+ p/w & it is putting me into financial hardship due to being messed around by BH,

Would the above be enough to have them make the payment (which is nearly 2 weeks over due) via BACS?

    Any advise would be fantastic.
  • I'll be completely honest I feel like I've been lied too by BH.

Getting told 2 totally different "excuses" ech time I've rung them.

Definitely inform them of this. Its certainly having an impact and creating financial hardship from the point that you made commitment based on their info and date for payment.

I appreciate you should wait until money is in hand and cheque could arrive later than advised, but 3 weeks from cheque creation and still no sign of it arriving, is beyond acceptable.
  • well lets see if it turns up today.

if it doesn't i'll be on the phone to them to see what have to say & what excuse they try to use this time.
i am not prepared to wait another 28 on the off chance the cheque might arrive or that it might got lost in the post (again).
    clocks ticking.
