The only time you can get a CCJ (County Court Judgment) against you is after you've been to court and lost.  This outfit isn't going to initiate court action. Read their website, not one single reference to court actions. They're just harassers trying all sorts to part the naive from their hard earned.

You communicating with them encourages them to carry on the pressure. A fish on the hook. They'll continue to play you until exhaustion. You cannot win by writing to them. Just let it rest.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

Give a man a fish, and you feed him for a day; show him how to catch fish, and you feed him for a lifetime.

I'd wait for a claim form (if they ever send one) for the reasons I describe above.

They will need to prove the debt is legit and the process of their purchase of it/entitlement to bring the claim is legit.

once clearing that hurdle, they need to prove that the debt arises in accordance with contract terms permissible under Italian law. Not straightforward.

Thanks John.   When you say to wait for a claim form, you mean from an official party related to the county court right?   CLI have in effect sent a form asking me whether I agree to pay the debt, part of it or whether I contest the amount and to provide pertinent info and documentation.   Everything on this forum indicates I should be ignoring this and waiting until they file an official claim and respond to that.   Just checking that's what you mean.

That's right. In the unlikely event that one does turn up, it will probably come from the County Court Business Centre in Northampton.

    That too is correct.

As above and let them prove they actually own the debt because a third party (them) cannot do anything

You can look at Google images to see what a N1 claim form looks like.

I am sure they have, these people rely on the stupid and vulnerable to  pay up.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
  • I wanted to add my experience with the company as we found it quite hard to get a full update from anyone who has been unfortunate enough to deal with these people.
We had received letters recently about a charge that we apparently had in Florence 7 / 8 years ago.  We parked out car around the corner from our hotel in a garage as advised by our hotel and not only did the garage steal my ring from the car but we strongly believe that they were driving it around after hours. The car completely   stuck of cigarettes and the charm it’s had been moved and items stolen which they denied.  We received 2 tickets once we arrived home and we disputed that at the time and as far as we knew this was finished.
We then last year about October started receiving letters from CLI, we completely ignored them, the amounts and the charges were a complete joke anyway and they kept finding more and more tickets for us!  They have never sent any bailiffs to our house and we have never heard anything more after the -‘FINAL DEMAND! BAILIFFS ARE ON THE WAY’
    nonsense.
I would advise for everyone to completely ignore these people as like what has been mentioned they have absolutely no jurisdiction just trying their luck to get poor people to part with obscene amounts of money, and at a time like this what low lives. If we do go to court I will update you all but I very much doubt they will be forking out fees for this. The only one thing I found irritating more than anything is that we have moved and they managed to get our address something I thought was harder with data protection.
    Good luck xxx

Probably helped British consumers by making us even further out of reach to pursue.
