  • I would agree with 7/10, it was ok, not one I would rush out and see again or buy on dvd, It was a bit predictable but I quite enjoyed it.

I was dissappointed to find that although a friend could not get tickets as the screening was "full" it was infact less than half full!!
finally debt free and want to keep it that way!!
  • Wolverine,

Hi, would you mind adding my votes to the pile?

    Charlie Wilson's War 8/10
    Dan in real life 9/10
    Juno 9/10
    The Bucket List 9/10
    Definitely, Maybe 7/10

Dunno if I'm being too easy on the old scoring, or if I've just been very lucky to see some excellent films so far this year :o

I have just calculated the average rating I have given 8 films this year so far: 7.5. The average rating I have given 8 films last year (since I started on 31 Oct): 6.25. So maybe the films ARE getting better!

I am wondering if anyone can tell me where the vue cinema is in NEWCASTLE UPON TYNE as the last post in the "no chat just tickets" forum it says newcastle I know it gives the address but when you look on the vue website there is no newcastle upon tyne only newcastle under lyme confused

The vue cinema is newcastle-under-lyme. In Newcastle-upon-Tyne its just the Empire cinema in the Gate & the Odeon at the metro centre or silverlink.

  • Thanks for all the scores, lots of new voters - my notepad .txt file is becoming pretty cluttered! I might have to migrate to Excel!

I don't think you're being too generous, cheepskate28. I've only seen two from your list but I thoroughly enjoyed em both (dan, juno)

Besides your ratings are your ratings, not anyone else's - I think it's only right that while we share our ratings with ourselves, anyone comes up with their own ratings however generous or mean. So if we get people voting 10, or 0, for every film, so be it lol
P.S. yeah I think we're definitely getting some great films this year - there haven't really been any significant absences (i'm annoyed that i'll have to pay to see There Will Be Blood though!)

Saw my first preview free film tonight - Definitely Maybe at Basingstoke. Again, I'm probably in the minority here, but I loved it !!

Took my best mate with me who's not a Rom Com fan, but even he really enjoyed it (or was it Aisla Fisher he was enjoying - who knows).

I'd certainly give it a 8/10 and looking forward to going to many more free previews.

I loved Definitely Maybe, a nice feel good movie and not too soppy. I liked the daughters character, I remembered her from Raising Helen.
    8/10 for me

DEFINITELY not a blockbuster or classic
MAYBE just a middle of the road average romcom.

Rather too long winded, slow to get going, slow to get to the end. Zero excitement.
A few smirks but nothing really notable in the funny department.
Cannot award it more than 5/10 and a couple of the 5 are given due to the beautiful Isla Fisher's (ex Home & Away) presence & contribution.

  • I'm fairly new to this site and don't really know what i'm doing, but i think i'm in the correct area to post this ?? (woe betide me if it's not)
I've been reading all the arguing about the "no chat" rules on the free cinema ticket thread with some amusement and like a few others wondered what all the fuss was about?
But-being new i didn't realise you could sign up to be sent an email every time there is a new post.
So that is the reason all these angry people are so upset, now i get it!!
I can't be the only one out there not in the know,
so maybe somebody could explain why people don't want to trudge through 75 emails a day.
Then we can all be friends again and play nicely!! :j
