  • I was extremely disappointed and annoyed that the guy at Vue West End didnt let me and my BF in the Dan in Real Life screening. We showed up albeit a little late 6.45pm but its just a free screening for gawd sake. He said - sorry, youre too late, zee screening as already started.

Blergh, that ruined my evening :-(

I can understand that you are frustrated for not being let in, but the usher was well within his rights to refuse you entry as it does say on the ticket "No entry once film has commenced". Maybe you can see it from the perspective of the people already sitting in the screening: 6.30 the lights go down and the film starts without any advertising. And then people keep filing in, trying to find seats, obscuring views and generally being distracting. I find that annoying too.

  • Went to see Dan in Real Life and thoroughly enjoyed it. First time at the Cineworld in Edinburgh and it was worth the 15 mins looking for the blue parking box!

Absolutely adore Steve Carell for the US Office alone, and he's difficult not to like. Yes, this was a slushy movie, but I did guffaw at it in more than one place. Really wanted to take the 2nd duaghter off screen and tell her to eat more as her unbelievably spaghetti like legs had me mesmerised for the whole movie.

Worth seeing, although don't expect humour like one of Carell's other movie, Forty year old Virgin. This is definitely a chick flick for women of all ages.
Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!

9 out of 10 for Dan in Real Life! Not 10, because the ending was rather predictable, but it was ever so funny! The cinema was the fullest I have ever seen it, and as all those people streamed in, I was stressing that I wasn't in the right cinema, because previews are usually never that full! The atmosphere was very good, people were lauging their heads off. Twice the screen sort of dropped so bodies kept walking around headless, which was of course unintentional but just added to the hilarity.

Beate, I think we may have been in the same cinema, you weren't at Greenwich by any chance? (don't worry you don't have to answer that, Lol). Yes it was a good film, better than I expected and I agree the cinema has a good atmosphere, I was one of the people laughing my head off but not too loudly I hope :o.

Screen dropping was strange, first time it happened I thought it may have been some 'clever' shooting by the director but then I realised something was up! Had a nice meal at the O2 before all the Spice Girls fanatics left the arena tonight so very enjoyable evening, and I recommend the film to everyone, I think it has a wide appeal, even if it doesn't look like your type from the adverts and trailers.

got an out of 10 rating, bathgatebuyer? Only if yad like to, mind. Oh, and I'd like to interject that Carrell has done quite a lot of films now, tho yes he's great in the US version of the Office and Virgin...

london_saver, i sympathise - i was once literally two minutes late to a free screening and wasn't let in. The worst part is I ended up paying to see Epic Movie. Eugh!

yes, Beate, the ending was kind of American wasn't it? oh and yeah, the screening was full here too! It hasn't been as full since Knocked Up - it shows the power of TV spots combined with readily available free tickets, huh?

opas, yes we were in the Greenwich screening (last row), and yes, I too first thought the cut-off heads were clever shooting, LOL! I have never seen Carrell in his other movies or TV roles and so for me he was a fresh new face. The whole set-up with the big happy family was rather American, what was the reason they came together, Thanksgiving or what? 20 family members in one room would be a nightmare for me, to be honest. Wolverine, 2 minutes late and being refused entry is a bit harsh really!

  • Went to see Dan in Real Life tonight - was a great film ! I enjoyed it so much I give it 10/10 - predictable ending or not ! The cinema was packed - everyone was killing themselves laughing - the atmosphere was fab - you kept hearing people shout out little comments to what was happening as we were all getting so engrossed in the characters and plot - absolutely great! I would say this is a chick flick suberb- but was enjoyed by the males in the cinema and would be great for a date of you want to get the girl in a good mood!!:D
I have had brain surgery - sorry if I am a little confused sometimes ;)
