I've just had a call from police. They say they went to the property after a call as a 'cause for concern'. They wouldn't tell me any details, but that there was a possiblility that there was a woman inside the property in difficulties.
They failed to see the note on my door with phone number and smashed the door in.
Then police phoned me having found my number. They say they are going to get the 'Boarding team' to board it up.0 -
So there was nobody inside, after all?0

re getting a list together of what needs to be bought - the loss adjuster will do that for you - no point in re-inventing the wheel
stay cool !!
camomile tea in between phone calls ! (gin makes you more cross !)0 -
It may sound odd, but i would pop down the local supermarket and buy a few bottles of wine, crate of beers, flowers etc.
Then pop round to see the neighbours of your tenants, have a chat with them, and drop them some flowers, wine etc to keep things sweet. On that note, you can leave a card with your information, numbers, contact address if anything was to go wrong again.
Maybe you would find someone who could act as key keeper, as usually you find a nosy body in the street..0 -
No - there was no one. I texted message this morning to tenant explianing why I had secured door. IAnd asking her to collect stuff on Friday.
I got a cll from police this morning about the door, etc.
No one was inside.
I am expecting a plague of locusts, frogs and rivers of blood next!
There is nothing left to be damaged.0 -
Are you thinking that the tenant called the police herself (or got a friend to do it) to report that someone was in difficulties in the flat?
And that she did this so that the police would smash the door down?0 -

On the plus side, with all the work carried out after christmas, if you decide to sell the house..it will look nice..0 -
thanks catblue
I will think about it but property is very expensive in the town where I live.
I'm working in the arts and currently running training courses for people in the arts who want to work with socially excluded groups, or those who haven't had a chance to explore their creativity.
Just doing a book right now. Editing meeting next week.
I'm practical and hands on but all this takes some getting to grips with - if you see what I mean?0 -
possibly she made the call. Or maybe the mother went missing from wherever she's been staying and people were anxious about her, but I suspect the former. I have given police her mobile number and I asked them that if they get any calls which may be malicious that they call me.0

Yes Alias, and with a new front door!
Plus any neighbouring affected properties will be done up too.0
