Blooming gale is still with us! :#
No idea what your bladder thing is Farway, and when I  Google I get medical stuff I don't want to see.  :s
My snowdrops were shot in 2007 in a posh garden where we used to sell plants. We'd turn up for Snowdrop Days, sell a load of those + hellebores, and then go back into hibernation till May. ;)
Dearly Beloved says we have some 'fancy' snowdrops on the far side of the front bank which is being demolished soon, so I'll photograph and remove them if they look special, or even if they don't.....but not till we lose this wind.
Planted about a dozen different seeds today in the polytunnel. It was very noisy and the cat found it very stressful!
  • Dry and fairly sunny afternoon here, albeit very windy, and the daffs on my regular walk are all poised to burst open.
Lovely photos D and F, here's my contribution to the album.

Definitely felt like spring is on the way and I heard several robins singing away too.

Dull again, with promise of sun, maybe?
Thanks for suggestions on the mystery fungus thingy, reverse image gives zilch match but has everything from chocolate cake topping to pine cones :) ,  yes Dave, online searching also gave me medical stuff. Weather permitting I'm going to cut one open later, just for curiosity

It turned out really warm in the sunshine yesterday so planted the Shasta daises into final positions, slugs have had a go at them but they'll survive being tough plants, and I added a few slug pellets just for vengeance >:)
A lot of things in the garden now have hint of green in the bud tips and I was amazed to see a clematis has romped away with fresh green shoots.
Very pleased with that, I've been trying to grow clematis for over fifty years :'( and this is the first to actually look like one may stick around longer than one season

One more success to report, the radish sown on Saturday has germinated, just poking above the soil in the modules this morning

Same here with clematis. 2yrs ago I bought some from the supermarket, £1.75, not expecting much and they are wonderful. Still growing and flower beautifully.
We've had 2 dry days this week (still rains at night) and I've got on well with sanding the wrought iron gate and red oxiding it.
Unfortunately the only place to work on it was the bit of lawn I dug the weeds out of and reseeded so that will need to be done again.
If we continue to get a few more days of dryish weather I'll be able to get to tidying up the garden and veg beds.  How come on these gardening programmes they don't seem to have the problem of working on things like stopping raspberry runners going in the neighbours along with playing with pretty plants?

I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Dull start with empty rain clouds just moving over to France, brighter promised for later
You may get your wish 2p, forecast is nice & sunny weekend here, hope so as it'll give me a chance for bit more pottering, there is a fern that needs hacking back now it's died down

I was back at the dentist yesterday, getting a fitting for the only crown I'll ever have, so only had half a day, but I'm almost finished cutting back the trees above the stream. :) There's one huge lump of hawthorn already severed and just hanging there, so when that and some holly's removed, I'll have a new planting area and the existing plants further downstream should also have more light. It won't make much difference until May, when the leaves return. Then it will still be shadier, but hopefully not impossible to grow plants other than the early season ones and ferns. There's still a lot of dead and over mature hazel in that hedgerow, but they're over on the neighbour's side. We should still see lots of new stems and healthy growth when looking at it from our place.
Lovely out there just now; definitely springish. ;)

    Morning campers 🖐
This week has been a week of very mild temps again, each one a high of 16C, most of those days were sunny, and in sheltered areas definitely warm enough to shed a layer or two ......... a false spring again methinks !
Hoping it stays like that for the weekend ahead though as tree planting happening here 👍🌲
    Happy gardening folks 🌺😎

Frosty start here. Had to do some stuff indoors for Dearly Beloved yesterday :( but escaped in the afternoon, cleared the remaining overhanging branches by the stream and now all I must do is lug them up to one of my two bonfire piles. Doesn't look as if there will be enough wind to actually burn anything for  a while..
Will my peas emerge today? I've planted about 15 lots of seeds, but so far the only ones to emerge are the spare Saponarias from last year  I stuck in a pot rather than throw them away. Typical! :D

We had same frosty start here, but sun's out with promise of a fine day ahead
Should the promise be fulfilled I hope to get out & tie in the Merton Thornless blackberry that has escaped it's bounds
Then maybe sow some beetroot in a trough in the unheated conservatory, with my recent radish sowing proving it's warm enough for germination in there I'll try beetroot again, failed outside last year, mainly down to my idleness & not weeding in time

  • It was beautiful weather here today, warm, sunny and with a mild wind.  Lots of people out enjoying a walk or cycle by the sea or the lake in the park.  Some of the the bulbs I planted in lasagne formation for the pot outside my front door have flowered, mainly the irises.  Will visit the allotment tomorrow for the seed swap.
I've planted onion, cauliflower, broccoli, parsley and snapdragon seeds in toilet roll cardboard, and these are on the kitchen and spare room windowsills.
