PP the sky is beautiful blue next to the yellow and pink it’s stunning.I think the mystery flower is campanula looking at the leaves ,I have it everywhere. I may be late to the party in trying to identify as I’m behin the posts at the mo.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.3

I was out at 06.30 too, wort. It's deteriorated since then, so now cloudy....and cold!Yesterday was 'interesting.' By 09.30, a resident had complained about the safety precautions and then fallen into the hole when the barrier was removed. He then tried to jump across, made a lunge towards me, and was promptly picked up and 'replaced' on the road by the builders. I nipped over and tried to find out what was bothering the guy, but all I got was abuse and a threat: "The planning officer is coming here, NOW!" Since the planners have approved everything, I didn't take that seriously. However, as this guy has his property on the market, I took the opportunity to ring his agent saying, "We're not in dispute just yet, but if Mr A.R.Sole does a repeat performance, he'd better decide what he'll be writing on Form TR6 when he lowers the price and sells!" Agent was actually very good, so I told him we were not putting in a caravan park or a nuclear facility, just a farm track, in case any of his viewers ask!All is quiet this morning, especially as the concrete lorry is running an hour late already. This is Devon and nothing happens on time, ever. People either accept it, or go back to somewhere less laid-back. We might see action by 10.00.In other news we had an ambulance, the first responders and a fire engine here later on Tuesday night. An older resident had gone upstairs to lie down, and his legs stopped working, trapping him there. Apparently, it took 11 people 2 hours to get him out, but I saw them socialising most of that time. Like I said, this Devon!I lost this photo of apple blossom, but it's still current. No idea of the name. Also, a picture of the moon taken while the emergency crews were nattering:“Happiness is not achieved by the conscious pursuit of happiness; it is generally the by-product of other activities.”

More lovely photos Dusty!
Bit of a change here too. Temperature dropped to 8c with light rain (well I did water the pots last night) the sky is an icy bland grey.
I stuck it out over breakfast then put the heating on.
I don't think there's much chance of gardening today.
So different from yesterday which was bright warm sunshine all day.viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

My cousin rang first thing this morning, she's having a rough time so I'll be mia for a few days while I go home and help her over it.
Lovely pics Dusty, I do love a pretty moon I hope your older resident is ok? And just because you don't need any more trouble I hope the neighbour is ok too? Sounds like a bit of karma there mind. Did the planning officer turn up NOW? Sorry it's Devon so have tea and buns ready for Monday ha haa!
There'll be room for a half barrel 2p, but maybe something else is in it's place right now. I see some squiggling about in your future.....
taff could you sandwich and glue bits of the flimsy wood together to make something stronger and more usable? That's how I made my trellises. Nice flat slats at the front with ugly/wiggly/rough slats glued to the back of them for a bit of structure.
Anyone who doesn't wanna pay for bin collection can come to Yorkshire. We don't stick that nonsense here
No gardening here today, too cold to be out there in that northerly wind. I'm dog sitting for Lovely Neighbour in a bit but I might get some more seeds in this aft. Need to weed my front garden bit really but Handsome would be off like a shot if I asked him to help me, so that's on the To-Do list for whenever...The second man to go over Niagara Falls in a barrel, Bobby Leach, survived the fall but later died as a result of slipping on a piece of orange peel.6 -
Looks like I have the good weather today, sun & blue sky, still cold at the moment thoughLast of my runner plants have been passed on to new owner, which gives a space in the conservatory nowStarted to harden of the Morries bedding geraniums, if when it gets warmer I'll probably give them a diluted feed. They are a bit dry, so a watering and feed will help them along, sort of aiming for Bank Hol planting out, but that's if I can shovel the snow aside. My fresh order T & M plants are on the way, with Yodel, could arrive by Saturday, maybe?twopenny said:Went to get a windscreen wiper for£2 at the local diy shop......
Came back with that and a plastic half barrel !
I've always wanted a water Lilly.
No idea where to put the barrel. I don't have the room.
Hey ho.ArbitraryRandom said:Around here they introduced a separate fee for garden waste that most people don't want to pay (£60 a year, but it's the principle). I signed up the first year and they delivered two 120L bins, which apparently I now own even though I'm not paying for the collection anymore..Dusty, hope Mr Angry has calmed down and the concrete lorry eventually arrives, the older chaps legs not working. Sounds a bit like me a few years back, brain said get up, legs said no, very odd, that ended in an ambulance, hospital over Christmas and weeks of rehab getting walking & balance again etc.I've splashed out on a new hand fork, delivered with my Asda groceries yesterday. Actually, it looks quite nice, stainless with plastic handle so when I lose it, it won't rust , and only £3. So, I won't be heartbroken if it joins the other lost hand forks.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7 -

Hope you cousin is soon over the worst. Our elderly resident is in hospital, but due home soon. He's one of the good guys, so we want him back! The irate character is known for 'going off on one,' so Karma definitely applies. He's 100m away from the work, can't even see it from his place, and anyway, he's supposed to be selling-up.Sun's out!“Happiness is not achieved by the conscious pursuit of happiness; it is generally the by-product of other activities.”

YBE - I hope your cousin is okay and that you get to do some nice things with her (including maybe getting out and about to see what different plants are blooming in her area )
Ventusky is telling me dry and cloudy today - temp hovering around 8 with a drop to 4 or 5 at about 6 in the morning... I don't think there's chance of frost, and I've been hardening my plants off, so I might risk leaving them out all night. There's getting to be too many of them potted up for it to be easy to keep bringing them in and I'm thinking/planning on planting them out this weekend anyway.

Gosh Dusty, you do have some weird people living by you [ they are alos by me, definitely by my sister and cousin though too] Fancy him getting his knickers in a twist at this late stage and then not thinking about a dispute with the neighbours when he's trying to sell. Well shot of him. Well done your builders. Hope the guy with the legs i home asap.YBL, hope your cousin perks up with you there.. do they like going to garden centres by any chance? I'll have a think about the wood, I may just burn it on a BBQ.Arb, sorry, should have inserted a 'have' into the sentence, as in, I have to pay, not to confuse the issue by sounding like I was questioning your choices, I wasn't...I mean techincally, I don't have to, but it's a lot easier for me to do it because it saves me lugging car fulls of stuff and all the extra spiders and woodlice that brings...[choogiepigs? Brilliant name..] And don't tell anyone, but the cat poo goes in there too, it all composts innit. [there isn't any litter in it, they go in the garden..tmi?] And if you haven't totally filled your beds yet, chuck them in there, the extra height will protect them a bitFarway, wow, that's gone up a huge chunk!Done another verge this morning, a lot smaller than mine yesterday, but gave me two old compost bags of spoil which will rot over the winter at the back of the garden. Also ventured into one of the neighbours gardens this morning for a good old chat and have been promised some quince so yay! My mushroom compost is sitting on the font garden waiting for me to get back on emptying it, he was here at half seven, my alarm hadn't even gone off by then, I was stumbling around with my milk bottle specs on instead of suave and sophiticated in my contacts [ which have gone up from 110 last year, to 240 this year btw] and then I couldn't find the cat, then phoned the guy again and asked ihm to check his cab because she loves nothing better than getting into any vehicle with it's doors open, put up posts on facebook groups, phone nearly out charge, facebook not finding the photos I have of her, lost my mug of tea, the guy phoned back, didn't see her, wandered round shouting for her for a good hour, then I was thinking omg, I'll have to tell the OH and he'll be worried in work, omg omg omg, and then in she strolls, looking a bit rattled but happy enough to eat many treats. I still haven't found the mug of tea I was drinking. Bloody cat.Shampoo? No thanks, I'll have real poo...6

No gardening at all is being done today as it's cold and damp even if it's not actually raining - that kind of damp that makes everything just feel grey and horrible... so heating on and I'm getting my head into work (which will be a shock to my boss!) and hoping the weekend is more cheerful. Due some more plants/plugs being delivered for some of the unusual veg that's been suggested, so that to look forward to at leastI'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.6
