Morning D, nice little treat with that Cistus - such good performing shrubs 👍 🌺
Yes, they're ideal here in the drier places and the small flowered wild species do well in the difficult hedge banks too, though they only flower for a few weeks. :)
Miserable and dull with a cutting wind outside, so I'm staying in and liberating a pension pot ahead of what I see as the potential for a severe downturn in fortunes on the stock exchange. It may be that I'll be planting something silver or golden in the garden in spring, or maybe converting funds into something more concrete, like a patio. ;)  As I'm on my last warning at MSE, I should stress that I'm not scaremongering or giving advice here, nor do I have any expertise in growing funds, just tomatoes. :D

What the h*ll, D  what has anything you've, ever, said created that situation ?
I think that the forum is becoming a nanny state - which helps no-one.
I've read most posts you made and have never read a single sentence that could even, remotely, be misconstrued 😡😡😡

Oh no, sorry to hear that you are on your final warning!  I only found out a couple of days ago that there is a "three strikes" rule on here!  How would one know if one was nearing the limit?  As far as I am aware, I've only had one post "reported" (a perhaps overly enthusiastic review of a product, subsequently reported as spam...by a certain Davesnave! ;)  ) but I don't know if that constitutes a "strike" in the MSE rules.

Meanwhile another bright cold day here.  Now "warmed up" to -7C having been -13C when I took my usual wander round the garden with my coffee earlier.  But the air is so dry, it really doesn't feel cold and the snow is that dry, powdery stuff that easily sweeps away with a soft brush and is useless for snowballs or snowmen.
😋 that's my favourite type of snow 😆

Not seen the wife for a bit Dave :D>:)

    Hahahaha, excellent 🤣🤣🤣😋
Secret's out D, your next warning will be a visit from the boys in blue and forensics 😋😁

Thank you. :) What I said related to vaccinations of very elderly people. It's something that could be real and reflected in the data, but not so far being reported by the mainstream in a joined-up way, so there's apparently no official discussion regarding whether it's a genuine concern or just coincidence. I can't say more than that. If it breaks surface as a mainstream story, I'll contact MSE Towers and ask them to consider removing my yellow card, but they're a commercial organisation and not bound to encourage debate. Look at the way they've closed 'Discussion Time' and 'Debate The Economy and House Prices.'
Actually, that's quite funny: MSE, a site all about money, rejecting debate on the parlous state of the economy! :D

I went outside for a while and I believe it's somewhat less cold today, despite the shrivelled-up look of everything and continual easterly. A change can't come too soon as there's been a large fire on Dartmoor.  :o Hard to imagine when only a week ago we were suffering downpours and general sogginess.
If things change, the propagator will be fired-up over the weekend. :D

Yes...nothing like a cold snap to stop the sap rising! ;)

But there are still more signs that spring is on it's way. On my afternoon walk yesterday there were skeins geese wheeling around overhead, which is normally a sign that they are starting to work up their flying strength ahead of the flight north.  Or it may be new arrivals from further south, joining the ones that over-wintered here, before they all head off en-masse.

I really need to do the winter pruning on my wisteria and it is really tempting to do it while the ground is frozen and the sun is on the front of the house. But I don't want to expose newly cut ends to sub zero temperatures, so I guess it will have to wait till the weather turns.

@Apodemus - Can you provide advice/a tutorial/running commentary on your wisteria pruning please? I need to do mine, but it'll be the first time it has been big enough to even think about pruning, so I'm a bit nervous!

Greenbee, I'm definitely no expert, but I tend to go with the approach in this video (made by one of your relatives!)

Out & about this morning, chiropodist, nothing exciting, but I did see my first real crocus flowers in a garden, always a sign of Spring, along with the squirrels getting amorous in the trees over the back of me
Because it was foot day I was up early enough to catch the sunrise :)
