Wish I’d notched my pear now 🙄 Ah well. Fingers crossed your efforts prove fruitful. If you want to see military planes (not Red Arrows mind) you could move to Lincolnshire. Plenty of War Games going on while I was there. I do miss that.Bliney, you on the market already? You don’t hang about! https://www.rightmove.co.uk/properties/142891424#/?channel=RES_BUY (Taken from the 'have a look at this' thread

I don't know what the tiny ones are Dusty. They do look the same but I didn't think there were that many bulbs in the snakes head packet to produce flowers there too, but who knowsHopefully with you doing a bit of the work a compromise can be reached that gets your track sorted for not too many filthy lucre. You never know your luck.
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -

Probably still time to have a go on one or two buds, growth is only just startingThat property, plenty of room for staff, thankfully. Honestly, it's separate worlds, isn't it?I wonder if they sometimes think there isn't enough room for another Roller or thoroughbred? Maybe that's why they are moving out?

Farway - not only do the Red Arrows practise over my head, but pretty much everyone else as I'm in the low fly zone. Lots of night low-flying at the moment. Not that it says anything about the current state of the world...5

Builder is here and working... well - to be entirely actuate, builder ISN'T here (apparently he's doing someone's roof) but he sent a couple of young lads to do the hard work shifting rubbish and digging out where he'd marked last night for the footings. They've had a couple of coffees and turned down the bickits, but maybe this afternoon?
In other news, furthering my quince addiction, I impulse bought a couple of 'fake' quince (japanese quince bushes) when I was offered them cheap. First has been delivered today and is absolutely delightful. I was expecting them to be tiny (9cm pots) but I wasn't expecting in full bloom and such a strong scent from such a small plant!

Unfortunately neither are thornless (I haven't been able to find a reliable seller of any of the recommended fruiting thornless varieties in the UK) but both should stay fairly low (between 1-1.5m), meaning they can go in the front garden, and should produce decent size edible/culinary fruit which will hopefully supplement any fruit I get from the quince tree I planted a couple of months ago at the bottom of the garden: https://www.rhs.org.uk/plants/269024/cydonia-oblonga-serbian-gold-(f)/detailsI'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.5 -
If I thought there was any chance at all the ea would give me an honest answer I’d ring and ask. I bet it has a good story behind it.You lucky beggar gb. It’s good they’re getting their practising in but I’d sooner they didn’t have anything to practice for. Anyway. That quince looks very happy, and with a good strong fragrance too? I was about to say I’ll put it on my want list but I’ve got to be realistic
Pouring in the rain here, and dark and cold with it. Maybe that’ll take some of the worst of tomorrow out of it 🤞🏻I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
Good news all round Arbs, builder & quince!Rain has stopped and the sun's out, took the opportunity & the front fuchsia has been pruned. I stuck some prunings in the soil, so perhaps they'll take? Sink or swim time

Got up this morning to 3c and continuing East wind! Flippin heck this is getting ridiculous. The incoming rain as predicted though it was hail and rain (which they didn't mention) hammering against the windows.Went out about 5.30pm and the garden is sodden again so no hope of getting anything done.On the up side my front garden is looking good. More tidy and organised as though someone has thought about it than stuff shoved in.I've used white beach stones to edge the bed, the box is so far untouched by box bug and the lavender is coming good if a little straggley. It'll go for another summer. Needs tying up but it's either soaking wet or icy cold. Today both.A little robin came and sat on my garden table outside the window for ages. Lovely, it's only just started hanging around recently. Fingers crossed it stays. And a little brown bird with a black head (have to look this up) was enjoying the fat balls for ages. It's all happening out there

I seem to have spent half the day in traffic jams and queues at road works. I was headed for one town to shop, when Toby Buckland (Gardener, but presents on Radio Devon) informed me there was a jam there. So, I switched destination, and all seemed well. However, around 14.00, Sainsbury's suddenly turned into Hotel California; I could check-out, but I couldn't leave!
45minutes of jam; unheard of here.
Perhaps others thought like me and decided to 'beat the rush,' and maybe there's been an early migration of grockles too, but with roads being dug-up everywhere, it wasn't a great mix.Anyway, it's done now, so Mrs Dusty and I can focus on our garden over the long Easter weekend....but not tomorrow....gale force winds! If the forecast's right, the red sky tonight was a false flag!

Beautiful photo, Dusty
Your Hotel California joke made me laugh
We've had a surge in tourists here - I think some schools have already broken up for the Easter hell holidays.
Since when was 'greenfingered moneysaving' changed to plain 'gardening' or has it been like that for ages and I just haven't noticed before??

Forgot to say, lovely quince, AR. I think we've got the fake Japanese quince - pretty small orange flowers and it does fruit too, although they never seem to get eaten (even by slugs!!).
I wonder what your little brown, black headed bird was, twopenny?? We have robins here, although I've just seen the one for the last week, so maybe Mrs Robin is sitting on a nest'A watched potato will never chit'...4
