Thanks, twopenny, I’ll have a look for the Algon. What’s the name of the heavy duty stuff your neighbour uses?? I was looking at my roof yesterday and it’s in a terrible state with the moss - I think I might have to get the professionals in.'A watched potato will never chit'...3

Blue, I think your mystery is an apple tree, the buds look like my apples, can't quite make out the bark. Hope it is, how exciting waiting to see the blossom & fruit. And a good haul from GC as well. I've not ventrued to Morries yet for the snowdrop huntHope x-ray result goes OK Dusty with handy cafe & maybe good views on the way home. My “sharp” photo I think is down to the lens, I recently bought a £50 second hand Panasonic bridge camera just because it was recommended and has a Leica lens, very basic camera compared with today's' stuff, but decent zoom Leica lens I hope will give some detailed pics. It's the closet I'm going to get to Leica in this life anyway. If weather continues to improve, I may use it if I trot off to the local snowdrop church.PP, I'm another who only sees the garden, private but open at the same time.twopenny said:
I also got a lemon thyme (very tender plant) as mine died yet again from too much rain. I'm trying to harden it off and get it to produce some hard wood before it goes out. No idea how I'm going to do that so any ideas welcomeTa Ra, remember the discussion a few weeks about taking cuttings, right / wrong timing?I took some fuchsia cuttings then, which was really late & “wrong time”. Parp, Parp, they seem to have taken and have green shoots opening, no idea if any roots or just sap rising, soon tell in a week or so. Photo to follow...Finally, in yesterday's sunshine, celandine. Poppy, I can't remember the name of her stuff. I did look it up on Amazon when I borrowed it but even a net history didn't bring it up.
She has been poorly but I have to see her about putting out the bins (they've changed the day) so I'll ask then and let you know.
Agree with Farway re tree and apple. I thought it looked that way but not sure enough to say.

YBE well done on your haggling, not a clue what it is so I’ll leave to the experts hereabouts. I hope Cissy is right for us over in the red rose county too, as my sheets and towels are whizzing around the washer as we speak. At present the sun is out with a breeze which is decidedly chilly. Was going to garden but needs some bits from lidl. I have a massage booked in after that Xmas gift 💝🤗Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.3

Ooh pretty celandine Farway, I like that
What did you do to get your fuchsia going so fast though? Other than have sunny dahn sarf weather I mean! I don't think mine have done a bladdy thing yet. I'm really not paying them any attention though tbh, that could be part of it... There were no snowdrops in my morries - hence gc - but fingers crossed you find some
I'll take a pic of the bark, if that helps. I'd be happy about another apple tree, it'd be nice to have a different breed of apples as well as my domesticus tescoii one. Haggling was hard work I can tell ya, I deserved it for a fiver after all that!
I'd say Red Rose folks come under Cissie's forecast, so you'll get your wash dried wort. Funny bedding and towels is what I washed tooI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
Bark pics, the bottom and a bit further up. It looks a bit queer but the bottom really is grey and all the rest is reddish. I shall therefore call it my Ska Tree (ba dum tsch!)Is that helpful?I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3

In that case, I'm going to vote pear - just to guarantee it's appleI'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.5

YBE, your haggled tree. The difference in bark is because the lower bit, near the pot, is the Rootstock, then the graft [the lump] followed by the real fruiting bit, the reddish bark. With the bark, I'm now slightly leaning towards cherry except the buds on cherries are normally in a cluster, so I'll stick with apple for the momentBTW, at the base is a tiny green shoot, pull it off at once, it is from the rootstock and will take over in the long run if you let it. The real fruit, upper one, will then take a trip to the fiords.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5

Could be a plum though with the smooth bark
Just a reminder that snowdrops and daffs may be off the menu for the mo.
It's Valentine's day coming so nothing useful until at least a week after in the shops.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
