Some people only see the rubbish and the work, but what I see is a good-sized plot with sheltering buildings around and (from this angle) fair levels of privacy. It will be good to see what you did with this, when you're ready to post, that is. Most gardens look their best from May onwards. Now, not so much! What an immaculate lawn in your 'after' photo! That's one thing I shall never achieve here!

Is it too late to give last year's Amaryllis a bit of feed now, do you think?? I've got some Baby Bio.

Huh, typical! Today looks like being the driest and sunniest this coming week..... and I'm shopping and having my knees X-rayed!
I'm grateful for the speedy X-ray; it's just a shame the NHS's random appointment generator picked a sunny Monday.
It looks as if the weather will be unseasonally warm, mid-week, but with that comes sea winds and rain. Not a sign of frost in the forecast, so soft growth will continue. Are we set up for a shock if things turn next month? Was it last year the beech trees were disfigured by frost, or the year before?I said I'd take a snap of my ornamental pear and the growth it's already showing. Mine's not as sharp as Farway's photo, but the pear is definitely ahead, with leaves and blossom buds apparent. More targets for frost?"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Ooh I'll have to get a pic of my pear, I don't think it's doing as well as the apple so some interference careful helping may be required...
You've a lovely garden there pas. I thought in the same vein as Dusty - ooh look at the decent fences + large plot + orientation, bit of graft to be done but it'll come good
Cissie confidently announced last night that all washing was to be done today, for it's not getting any drier as the week goes on. So anyone living between me and Cissie (only pp I think?) get your washer on!
I went out for a good long walk yesterday and got a nice atmospheric photo. It actually looks more autumnal than hiemal, but the cloud was mesmerising. The wind dropped so there was a calmness about it too. I'll upload in a min. Then I remembered I was sposed to be going round morries looking for snowdrops but they didn't have any so I ended up in a gcand they didn't have any either. Well they did but I wasn't paying all that for them. They had some called "Single-faced Snowdrops" or similar - one snowdrop in a pot - £3.50! I picked up a couple of bits, and got a mystery as a real bargain cos I was cheeky and haggled over the price. Pics to follow. So I'll need help with my new mystery. I'll wait for the sun to get round into the garden so I can get a good clear pic.
OT - washers on. Woke up to a bit of a frost this morning, but doesn't feel cool particularly. Humid out there but it is dropping and the wind's picking up. And the clouds have decided to go back up to their rightful place, so that's nice
Oh and good luck with your knees Dusty!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
Bit of water about still but it is starting to move. We’ve got it to come off the hills yet mind

Good luck with the x ray Dusty. Is there a good cafe at the hospital? Mind an xray usually takes minutes.
Your fruit buds are very advanced compared to my fruit.
Woke to 4c and still here but with sunshine and brightness. Still wet though.
Yesterday I gathered so white stones to decorate the dull passage at the side of the house. I had some before but got moved when the paving was done.
I also got a lemon thyme (very tender plant) as mine died yet again from too much rain. I'm trying to harden it off and get it to produce some hard wood before it goes out. No idea how I'm going to do that so any ideas welcome
May manage to prune Gertrude Jekyl out front while it's leaf free. It heads for the sky in the summer
Lovely to read about everyones adventures in their gardens.
And the before and afters always interesting. Everyone has such different ideas all for the same end.
Somewhere beautiful to look at.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

The mystery tree. It was in the reduced section £20 down to £10, but as the poster said 50% off all plants on this rack I played dumb and upset and eventually got it for a fiver
Wheely bin for scale. That was the gc. I also got some diddy wee daffs and crocuses and stuff in morries, and whatever the thing is in the end pic cos I thought it was worth a punt for less than £2.
I'm guessing as it's called "patio" I'll not plant it? Just put it in bigger pots as required...?I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
That tree is a good buy. Probably horribily root bound as most on sale are.
You're right straight into a bigger pot with some John Innes 3 and see what turns up :smiley
Love mystery plants. Got a lot of those when I started with good results.
The orange thing is very tender so indoors for now.
Poppy, the path cleaner I bought was Algon Organic. It was ok. Definitely better than not doing it and the paths are still cleaner but my neighbours heavy duty stuff has kept the slabs immaculate!
So I'm going to get some of that. Sometimes being mse is a compromiseI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Thanks 2p. Even though I don't know what it is, I know it's in better shape than my ones - lots of branches, all of them bendy not crunchy/snappy, lots of wee buds starting to come. Plus it's big so it'll take me ages to kill it ha haa!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3

Ooh, that’s a bargain mystery tree - £20 down to a fiver. I wonder what it turns out to be 🤔
No chance of getting the washer on this morning - we have the electrician here and the electric is off for the next 3 hours 😧 Cissie was right about the weather too - we have sun.
I might do a bit more lopping in the garden while the electric is off. It’s still really soggy underfoot here and I’m amazed that twopenny and Dusty have talked about mowing the grass in the last few weeks 😳 I think possibly April here before we even consider it.
Best wishes for the x-ray, Dusty, I hope it gives you answers.'A watched potato will never chit'...3
