Awful weather - typical Brits talk

I had a listen Abs, he made me smile. I'm going to keep a look out because I haven't heard of him.I used to love Victor Borge, a very different kind of humour, you youngsters won't remember him.Another mild day here, 12c, though cloudier. Yup I looked at the garden and thought I should give it a rest for a day. Should be able to tackle some tomorrow.Had to take the car for a run to keep the battery charged and wonderful, Catkins are out! All along one road. Also saw a beautiful white blossom tree, it's an ornamental plum stock so they are very early. I've not seen this white one before. Think I may have to try and track it down.I did have a look in the garden centre for small trees but they are wildly expensive for my budget. Also went for a walk up the hill and round to see what is in other peoples gardens. Nothing much yet but some Camelias out.Spring takes 3 weeks to march North aparantly so it should be on it's way

Sadly Dusty, the scaffolding doesn't belong to the roofers, it belongs to the scaffolding firm they use. However, the roofers 'forgot' to call them on Wednesday and the scaffolder is away until tomorrow. I will remind them tomorrow that it needs doing and tell them the tree surgeon is coming this week because I was told the scaffolding would be down at the end of last week. This isn't true (at least, the tree surgeon hasn't got back to me), but might put a rocket up them.
I have electricians arriving on Thursday as well, so there's a lot of packing up and tidying to do. However, I have two poorly kittens now - we started the day well with both of them up when I went down, and lots of eating going on. However, later on one of them was biting their wound... so off to the emergency vet for a check and vests for the pair of them. They are VERY unhappy after the long drive, unpleasant vet visit (the vet had clearly never put clothes on a cat - luckily I have had practice as a pre-teen dressing my cat in dolls' clothes 🤣), a long drive back and wearing clothes. They claim not to be able to walk properly in the vests (they can, but it is clearly scary because the vests stay with them) - and I'm glad I went to the vet despite the bill as they'd planned to give me one that was too small and one that was too big. They were full of beans this morning - in fact their zoomies were getting a bit too much. Very subdued now after about 7 hours of bird/chipmunk/squirrel videos on YT in between naps! It's going to be a LONG night. But we'll be back at our own vet tomorrow for more metacam and a check on the vest fit.7 -
Ha Greenbee! That reminds me of when I had to buy baby socks for my dog.It wasn't so much him wearing the socks as the comments from friends and neighbours when a row of baby socks were pegged on the washing lineHope the puss cats feel better tomorrow. They don't like their fur being squished though.Just hopped in because I finally remembered what I'd done with the snowdrop photo I wanted to post sheesh........Snowdrops all around the church yard and down the lanes in the villages when we went for an afternoon out.I challenge Dusty to know where that is

Ooh I like the yellow house 2p, thatches are so pretty. And that's the colour I had my kitchen walls in my last house
Catkins being out makes me smile. We used to call them lamb's tails and I loved themHopefully ours are 3 weeks away then (not that I've seen any round here I don't think...)
Fingers crossed for your kitty kats with the proper vet today gb, hopefully it's nothing serious. I'd use the tree surgeon as an excuse too. You never know, getting rid of the scaffolding might make the tree surgeon come - Field Of Dreams eh
For comedy I think the last time I properly belly-laughed 'til I cried was Sarah Millican, The early stuff is funny but the later stuff is just edging into crude+angry. A real shame.
Are you taking orders before you hop in your time machine Dusty? I was reading a Hessayon book yesterday and there's a few things I need - some I've never even heard of - but apparently they are essential for a proper gardener. So could I have please have some dithane, some DDT, some PBI liquid derris, some PBI SpringClean (combined bhc + ddt apparently),some Bordeaux powder, some calomel dust, and some red iron powder. And worms in your grass are top of the "Lawn Nuisances" list so I also need Mowrah Meal. It's the very thing, accept no substitutes. Cash waiting!
Cloudy and mild out there, and a grand drying day so I've a wash out and another on. Bit dodgy the rest of the week. Possibly.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -

Cash waiting!Much of that old stuff I wouldn't wish to bring back, but in recent times we've swung too far the other way, especially with politicians having no clue about some environmental problems. A good example is Asulox, a bracken killer, which has been banned, and then unbanned, because without it hill farmers' land would become useless. Hill farmers don't have much lobbying power in Westminster, but the grouse moors might be a greater concern! My favourite comedy happened a long time ago. Memories of 100 of us trying to watch a 20" screen in the students' union on a Sunday night when Monty Python was new etc!
Then there was, "Not the Nine O Clock News" poking fun at everyone, sometimes in a very telling manner. Pamela Stevenson's "Ayatollah Don't Khomeni Closer" is definitely due for a re-airing. You'll have to Duck it, because if I put it on here the usual suspects will run to teacher.
Just don't watch the Trucker Song if you like hedgehogs!EDIT: How could I forget Victoria Wood and her team?Magic.
I agree about Sarah Millican; good potential but descended into cheap & easy smut.
Weather looks the best we'll get for a good few days, so I may desert the homestead and head for the hills!

Just waiting to see if it's going to rain or not. Sky blackish grey but bright and windy, mild.
Should I put the washing on?
Countryfile they said they didn't know what was happening this week !!
Unfortunately the wind isn't coming from Dustys way so no clues.
May nip out and see if I can get the back lawn mowed but thats going to be it - maybe.
Really need to plant some more of those wallflower seedlings while they are viable.
Lots more to do but not before the rain it seems.
Had a little surprise last evening. A couple of huge blossoms in the veg patch. Looks like they were dropped by a bird. Possibility apple - very early and not mine. They are floating prettily in a bowlI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Dull & grey again, certainly not many signs of spring that I can see. If the weather brightens up, I'm very tempted to go on a camera run to the snowdrop churchyard later this week, which will also give the car a run for battery top-ups as well. A trip to Morries is not quite the same, and certainly not as pleasant.I'll keep a look-out for catkins, I saw they are edible, never knew that. But watching the video It looks like a lot of faffing about, not just pick & scoff off the tree!Dustyevsky said:My favourite comedy happened a long time ago. Just don't watch the Trucker Song if you like hedgehogs!Should it brighten, I'll nip out as per 2P, and see if I can find my spade in preparation for apple tree planting. Should be in the shed of course, but as we all know garden tools vanish just when you need them.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5
