Flowers, much needed cheer
(Plural, notice!)
Didn’t even see the maroon ones were there ‘til I went stalking about looking for a pic to contribute. Also - who mentioned stuff that looks good together should be sold in multipacks?B+M this morning provided this (99p! but only one left) -That’s a brilliant tip 2p, it never even occurred to me to search for the latest buzzwords. Thanks very much
That To Do list will have to wait *sigh*
I meant to say this this morning - did anyone else see on the ITV news last night about the record breaking desperate low temps and ice storm that Denmark is having? Cars stuck on the roads and people having to be rescued etc. -44’c it said. So I fired up Ventusky and it said currently -10’c over there. Hmmm. I know we poke the drunkards for being wrong, but my god that’s a whole new level of inebriated!Woohoo for non-bu99ered rims and rosei car parkii FarwayI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -

So, I looked it up, but honestly, having seen how it used, I don't figure it gonna help yo much, bro!
Rosa carparkii?? Wasn't she that lady who wouldn't give up her seat on a bus?OT: Our 10% chance of precipitation has somehow become 100% in the last hour, but the Christmas tree is in the wheelbarrow and I did get in a few useful hours of toil earlier. Mrs Dusty is still putting baubles in boxes. Later, I'll post a picture to show why.50+ years of collecting, and only about 2 breakages a year!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Ha haa Dusty! Hopefully your Rosei Carparkii will be similarly ...well seated... Farway
I remember them announcing Rizz as word of the year. I'll pepper my cv with it liberally, then they'll know I'm full of it
How big was your christmas tree Dusty to have all them baubles on it?! Or did you have multiple trees...? And 2 breakages a year? Clumsy oaf
Dry forecast today, musical out there atm, but warming up by a couple of degrees later on. Possibly. I need a good drying wind cos my garden's going mouldy - fat balls and the nut feeders, patches on the fence, my bamboo canes, the patio - all going green and yacky. As soon as I get my bulbs in I want it frosty and crisp, thankyouplease.
Blackie was in fine throat at 0500, singing away powerfully he was. Well he still is. Spring does seem to have arrived, maybe the lovely high pressure we have now is confusing them? They're in for such a shock if the drunkards' long range forecast is rightI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -

They're in for such a shock if the drunkards' long range forecast is rightThe tree was 'normal' height, but wider than usual; about 7' - 8'. I don't break anything, as I'm not allowed to touch or interfere; not that I would, of course. The bauble/decorative thingy count this year on the tree itself was 395!
Drunks are saying we shall have a tropical 8c with added sunshine, where I'm going for a walk today. It's wimp territory on a flat bit of the coast path, but unlikely to result in very wet feet, like last week.'Tis difficult to accommodate the need for Lidl stone baked rolls with a reasonably interesting walk that's dryish, but I think I've cracked it.
In gardening news, I've received my well-packed tomato seeds from the Wales Seed Hub, including 'Lulu's Best Ever,' so they deserve a plug: https://www.seedhub.wales/To my mind, Lulu's best ever was actually when she introduced Jimi Hendrix on her live show. He played something entirely different from they'd agreed in rehearsals, overran and refused to stop, so the Beeb had to fade him out! Those were the days!Edited to add: The False Spring thing probably fools more humans than animals, but it's still way too early, even for that. In February, Mrs Dusty and I would come out of hibernation briefly to sell hellebores and snowdrops during spells of seasonally clement weather. People would exclaim, 'Spring has arrived!' We'd smile, nod, and then go back into hibernation till early May.What a cynical pair we were, but even then, colour on our stall was mainly photos.
The flip side of that was a soggy autumn, when nobody wanted to know us and we'd have to reduce prices. With the soil still warm, it was a great time to be planting, but folks were tuning into Halloween, Fireworks and Christmas."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Weather is mixed, blue sky at the moment but chilly. If it keeps it up, I will get out & pot up the Rosii Car Parkii. The parent still has flowers on BTW so I do hope at least one cutting takes. Thanks YBE for tip about B & M with plant stuff, I use them at times so may pop in next week now my Rim no longer LeaksDusty, I wish you hadn't posted the Welsh seed link
, I'm tempted now and I only had a quick glance. Those Lulu toms sound cracking, especially if they come true from own seeds. My temptation, having never succeeded in growing a good large tomato. I'll have a more detailed look later.
I need a Premium Bond biggie win sharpish for the extra space I requireWhile at the volunteer spot yesterday, I noted the Californian Poppy seeds that I sprinkled had germinated. These are from ones I grew last year up there. They had pinkish frills, so hopefully will come true. Here's the new fence & now bare border area at volunteer place, there was a forsythia there, but it may have gone, time will tell. If I get to B & M I can see if any tempting items there.
At least I have the Russian Sage as back up. And an opened packet of mixed Love in a Mist, which will brighten it up come summer.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5 -
I noticed yesterday that my unknown variety early rhubarb is popping up again. This is the parent plant that I half dug up last year because it was in the wrong place. The babies, transplanted to where I thought was a better position in the garden, are nowhere to be seen. Bloomin' typical...
It's a chilly one tonight, but dry. The forecast for next week is sun!! But cold with it. Shiver me timbers...'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -
Well it's dry.But so cold. Chill your bones cold but then of course we are soft southerners.Wahsing didn't dry. Maybe tomorrowBluey great flowers. Better than mine which are just rotting with the rain.Farway that looks grim - but I'm sure by the time you've finished it will look splendid. Isn't that what they call 'a blank canvas'?Dusty, that photo fo the tree was Watersmeet. But you go up Watersmeet Road and in winter there's a pull in. Not many steps down to the river. Further on is the official car park et al.Poppy, I need to move stuff too. I don't have great hopes what with the wet/cold/dry coming. But maybe your little plants are just being sensible and sheltering until it's all over.Haven't been able to walk or do much the last couple of days but I can drive around so here's a sunset from the carRed sky at night??
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on

Aww that is such a peaceful photo 2p. Just right to sit there with your car windows down and inhale it deeply
Did you get any further re your broken bum or still a waiting game?
The remaining B+M bulbs were just slung in a basket by the tills, for anyone going in looking for them. Or they are in my one anyway. Proper shelves all filled with cheapo Christmas tat and surprisingly dear Easter tat. I got them planted yesterday so we'll see what occurs. Thanks for the reminder Dusty - I still haven't got any snowdrops. Next year, next year.
Love in a Mist and poppies sounds like a pretty combo Farway, that'll be lovely when they all come out eh. Good luck with Car Parkii cuttings. Are you doing something special to get them going? My ones that himself eventually managed to get to stick to him from through the wire fence next door have stalled I think. But one has a few leaves (when my other roses haven't got a leaf between them) and seems to struggling on :fingerscrossed:
That's a beggar about your rhubarb pp. Why don't things do as they're damn well told! How's your calamondin btw? Enjoying the indoor warmth..?
Cool here and getting cooler. A couple of overnight minus temps next week. Possibly. Bit of a meh forecast for a few days, other than the temp dips. Not really windy or sunny or cloudy or rainy, but a bit of each as and when. The water's slowly seeping out of my garden, so hopefully not too much drowning damage to stand and gaze at before leaving it to it rectify.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
That is a lovely photo 2p!
Thanks also for the info about Watersmeet, which I'll follow up. Friend is a member, so either car park would be fine.

Our walk yesterday was interesting rather than picturesque, and far too busy with cyclists, but it was good to see so many people enjoying getting out and about. The promised sunshine didn't come to much, but the wind dropped, and we only got wet in the final 5 minutes."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Brrr, touch of frost on car windows this morning, sun's out, blue sky but chillyYoungBlueEyes said:

Leaves are a good sign that something is happening. While I had my newly found secateurs to hand & in the cutting mood I pruned back my fuchsia, and have about a dozen hardwood cuttings and high hopes. If I can get a few to take, I'll maybe bung some into the newly bare patch blank canvas at volunteer spot. The fuchsia is not fully hardy, but does OK in a Softy South sheltered gardenpink_poppy said:I noticed yesterday that my unknown variety early rhubarb is popping up again.
