Awful weather - typical Brits talk

When I can be bothered (not often
) I make my own beans in the pressure cooker and freeze them in portion size bags.
Pinto beans work great (and tend to be cheapest) and I chuck in some smoked bacon for a 'boston baked beans' styleI'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.3 -
YoungBlueEyes said:I only quickly popped on to share a link my cousin just sent me. There’s talk of more Northern Lights with all the cold clear weather, and this link has all different cameras on it. They’re in Scotland mind but it’s close enough hopefully. There’s a selection of cameras at the bottom of the page. Those webcams are amazing; way better than the ones near me! Beware of rumbling noises with some of them, and I heard some creepy laughing in the distance on one! There's a couple where they've recorded the aurora for you.Inspired, I went out and took a photo of the moon coming up. It's in the north east here just now. Why isn't it visible on the Shetland cams, though?"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity3

I missed that! Thanks for the update Dusty.
Seems my kindle has some misses here, and there.
Stayed at 3c here but the wind dropped so not as bad as it could be.
Washing didn't dry though with the wind gone. Got light enough at lunch to show the dust and dirt but now I can't see it again......some small mercies.
Blooming freezing here, literally. Supposed to go to freezing tonight so have put fleece over the Christmas tree just in case it's been molly-coddled.
Of course I'd put all the lights out in the front garden today, then all the thermal blinds up so now I can't see them
I'm trusting that Dustys warm front makes it up here tomorrow.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

So, -1 in my alley this morning. Grass a bit crunchy but no real frost.
It would have been a pretty dawn had i stood outside to watch!
Left the fridge door ajar last nightbut everything was just fine it's so cold.
Hope everyone is in one piece and their garden too.

Freeeezing here, -4 but feels like -6 and my back door's frozen shut
I bet there's all kinds of crispy pics to get in the garden but I can't get out ha haa! There's street lights in the ginnel the runs across the backs of our gardens, so we're never dark really.
Aye those cameras are good. Hopefully they'll show anything my cousin sees cos they're not that far away are they. I hesitate to mention this (cos I'm anti it in general) but she's a member of a facefook group called something like North Antrim Coast Aurora Watch. She keeps telling me that's what I need to keep watch on cos you don't have to join it to see it (itms?) It was the pics on that that had us running round Portrush beach the other week. The cameras catch all sorts depending on what they're mounted to but I've not seen anything astonishing yet. Always hopeful though.
Boston beans sounds delish Arb, you sharing that recipe..?This isn't off topic cos a big boy mentioned them first, so here's my tom soup recipe. Empty 2 tins of whole toms and a tin of baked beans into a big pan and mush it about a lot with a stick blender. The end. Credit goes to my friend Vonny who makes that for her grandkids. I'll sometimes put a wee dot of brown sauce in it, or a dip of wholegrain mustard, and grate a goodly amount of cheese on top. Yummy
That made me giggle about not seeing your lights for the blinds 2p. I hope your chrissy tree is happy in it's fleeceI don't know what's going on with the posts either (or the notifications for that matter - it reckons there are 31 new posts on this thread this morning
aye right). Seems it puts some posts in after you've refreshed and refreshed and carefully read all the new posts then drops some in after you've posted.
Mods! There's gremlins again!
Cold here but dry all day. They say. It best not rain for it's frozen solid out there. The sobers reckon it'll be +5 on Monday, the drunkards say +4. If anyone fancies sharing their warm front in the meantime I'll happily accept it
Just waiting on Dusty's moon pic now...I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
At the risk of repeating myself, here’s some frosty pics. There’s some good shapes and patterns this morningView from back bedroom window -View from inside the conservatory -Frosty bird feeder and the 2 inch thick ‘water’ I removed just now -I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5

,but here's my not very amazing moon photo:
Looks more like the sun.So, by way of compensation, here's almost dawn:They don't care about -4c, and nor do the ferrets, who were playing in their water as soon as we unfroze it!P.S Did you like the Irish climate horror video I posted yesterday? I love that second one especially! A picture in its own right
Bright outside now which would be cheery but blinds etc are still closed tight to keep some heat in.
I've popped out into the garden for photos but not till later.
Clear blue sky, the first we've seen for ages and its melting the frost. I'm waiting for it to get higher before venturing around. This place is too small to get the circulation going.
So glad I'm down south looking at your pics.
I found out where the little birds are!
A couple of neighbours have a thick overgrown hedge and they are all hopping about an happily tweeting in there.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Ooh good pics Dusty, aye it does look a bit like the sun eh. I agree with 2p, the second one is calendar worthy
Thanks for the reminder of your Irish vid, I'll meant to watch that but got carried away being cheeky to the foreigner with his earthquake-proof house thread
Good to hear your wee birds are alright 2p. Which reminds me I've a new word-of-the-day. You know how people refer to the sm site 'X' and then add 'previously known as Twitter'? Well I saw some wag call it "TwiXer", which I think is rather goodI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
I'm wondering why your icy tentacles are going down the window, YBE, instead of up like mine?? I think there's a scientific explanation somewhere...
Lovely frosty pics from YBE and Dusty. It doesn't feel quite as cold here this morning as it did yesterday - grass is still white though and there was a definite crunch underfoot when I walked on the weed suppressant covering first thing.
That Calamondin dreamin' quip made me laugh, YBE'A watched potato will never chit'...4
