Ha haa! Well if it’s not your fault it’s my fault gf, I was singing away to meself yesterday doing domestic nonsense. “Could you be lo-o-ved…” Hopefully the scan didn’t show any extra bits or missing bits or wandering bits?Cracking pic pp, that’s some commute you’ve got there
Beautiful full moon out there now, just enough cloud in front of it to produce that coloured ring round it that I can never remember the name of. Quite cold too.Arctic blocking sat-nav Dusty, very goodI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3 -
Blue sky at the moment without any wind, looks pleasant, but I bet it's freezing cols in realty.I noticed the moon as well, but did nothing about it having failed with my moonshots so often in the past, nice moon pic PP, and the ICM as well
[Intentional camera movement, it's smart foto fashion in these days of image stabilisation]
No gardening today AFAIK, still too cold for old bones to stir into cold conservatory and pot on the R sage or start clearing the frosted dahliasEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5 -
Cold today, for sure, but looking at Thursday onwards, I'm inclined to go for some serious concrete making today while it's still relatively 'warm.'
I'm feeling like a twit for being over-optimistic abut temperatures pre-Christmas, but the continual rain we had this month was exceptional and the main reason I've got behind with winter protection.
One bird I tend to see more of as the winter takes over from autumn is this one, often cheerfully sharing the bugs in the polytunnel with me. Hopefully, this year, it will be given regular access by leaving the doors ajar, and not simply going under them, because they fit badly!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Definitely unintentional camera movement - taking the pic with my ancient phone whilst whizzing along in the car
It's another frosty start here - I've lost count of how many we've had in November. It's dry and sunny though, so I'm grateful for that. My (still outside) Calamondin has lots of white flower buds, which I'm sure will drop off soon with the cold - I'm amazed the plant is still alive tbh. My cyclamen pot that I got from Home Bargains a few weeks ago is still going strong - it's a nice splash of colour to have in the garden at this time of year'A watched potato will never chit'...4 -
Lovely wren, Dusty'A watched potato will never chit'...2

Like others, beautiful baby blue skies today with only a hint of cloud creeping in as we move into the afternoon. I'm going to venture out shortly to do a little tidying up, but won't be long before I'm back where it's warm. I need to get some snakeshead bulbs planted before they completely dry out on me, but I think I'm going to just dig a single hole (edit: 3 shovel sized holes in the end for 50 bulbs - some good clumps if they come up) and dump them to survive or not! No neat planting in rows for me
Apologies in advance I have a routine appointment at the GPs tomorrow so expect it to rain at around 10-10:30I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.5 -
It's a textbook braw bricht moonlicht nicht here this morning, big shining moon and loads of twinkly wee stars. No pics (intentionally moved or otherwise), I know my phone's limitations. Have a little sing while you're on your way will you please Arb, any rain will fall as snow here for sure
Lovely wee wren there Dusty (is it a wren or a robin..?) Did you get any serious concrete made, or maybe just some jovial concrete? Ba dum tsch!
I thought calamondin were a hot country plant, like all citrus pp? Are you leaving it out there full stop now?
Question - I always plant my bulbs like the packet says, 10cm apart and 15cm deep or whatever, so they grow into clumps over time. So I do one here, one over there, one somewhere else... Is that not right..?
Cold and dry forecast here, sunny later on and a bit of wind. They say. No gardening today cos I've caught 2p's indoor paperwork disease. We were watching the Martin Lewis thing last night and himself was agog at the rates and deals banks are offering now. So today will be a fiscally straightening and tidying day
I hope you're surviving alright in this cold weather, delicate wallflower taff?I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
Aye, the Calamondin should have been brought inside weeks ago, but tbh my house isn't that much warmer than outside - I could see my breath in the kitchen yesterday!!
Lovely clear sky with moon and twinkly stars here too - it's so cold and frosty out there.'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -
I know what you mean about a cold kitchen. Mines is too small for a radiator and it’s NW facing. Lovely and cool in summer when there’s all that heat tho!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.2

The last stuff I laid looked serious enough, but it was up to mischief. When I laid it, the wooden sleeper was located correctly, but I think it floated upwards a little when I 'puddled' the concrete. Anyway, it was mysteriously too high by around 10-15mm when I returned to it yesterday.
I'm sorting it out, but running late to get the doors on both ends by Saturday now.
Basic physics, I'm afraid; wood is less dense than concrete.
Looks like another calm, grey 6c day today, so still difficult to cut wet grass. I did some cutting yesterday as it refuses to stop growing, but the results weren't pretty. Looking further ahead, something colder this way comes, but not as bad as predicted a couple of days ago. We have had our Winter Fuel Allowance which paid for the car's MoT. I suppose we can always set fire to the car if things turn extremely cold! The last bird was supposed to be a blue tit, I think; the wren having been on P675. But I don't mind if it's another wren. While there are flashier, more exotic birds, wrens are peaceable, yet fearless. They stand their ground and give anything that threatens them a hard time. This country needs more wrens!
Talking of small things, and still at Rosemoor, this little chap is only £350, and you get the stick too! I'm not sure if you'll get the nut, because it was obviously unattached when I passed by.I had to re-locate it firmly before taking this picture. Perhaps they have a spare stock of nuts?
