Here’s a cheery pic for a gloomy morning. I took it a while ago in a charity shop. I was all for buying it but himself put his foot down (!)
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
It's dark gloomy hissing down. Couldn't be more depressing if it tried
Supposed to clear up by lunchtime but everywhere is sodden, roads and fields flooded.
So definitely no gardening......must be over 6 weeks now and I've had enough.
Please stop it.
Todays jobs are having a smart meter fitted, new car tyre and book mot so I'm unlikely not to cheer up any time soon.
Temptation to snuggle down with my little books of old roses and read but lots of indoor jobs to do.
Glad I'm not working in a job that means I'd have to be outside. I really feel for them.
Perhaps time to look up some interesting photos and brighten up the day.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Inebriates say it's not raining now, but it is.
However, we can look forward to rain, and maybe a small thunderstorm. A nice day follows, beginning around 14.30.
Yesterday's high winds blew out two of my new side panels on the polytunnel, though I was going to add extra wood blocks to hold them in. I screwed those into place yesterday, having little else I could do in the prevailing weather, except that and make a new chicken house window. Think it's 'administration' today.Looking around for cheerful pictures, I've found this one from Saturday's Rosemoor trip. Someone said we don't have enough dogs on this thread, so here's mine.No need for a poop scoop either!!!!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity7 -
Himself and a few lads are on site (Knaresborough) working outside, and it is thoroughly cold and miserable apparently. So at least you're indoors 2p. Good luck with your jobs
It was me bemoaning the lack of dogs Dusty, and your one is brilliant! I really want one or two of them now.... I'll not look them up mind cos I bet they're sore on the purseIs your polytunnel easily repairable?
His Holeyness has decided I'm no longer persona non grata and has left the remnants of a squirrel in my garden. Well a bit of fluff and the tail and some blood. Think I was happier when he hated me.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -
Same here as 2ps, hissing down & gloomy, no gardening todayYoungBlueEyes said:Did anyone get any damage or are we all alright? How did dgd fare Farway?Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5

If I'd been with you in the charity shop I'd have said buy it, YBE
Love Knaresborough, btw, we were there in the Summer and it was absolutely heaving. Sad about the squirrel remains
Love the metal dog, Dusty. Shame about the polytunnel, but at least it sounds like it's easy to fix.
Wet and breezy here today and a bit miserable looking...'A watched potato will never chit'...4 -

His Holeyness has decided I'm no longer persona non grata and has left the remnants of a squirrel in my garden. Well a bit of fluff and the tail and some blood. Think I was happier when he hated me.I liked scruffy dog too. No idea of price, but much less than some sparring hares I'll feature later, which were around £12k.The welded steel stuff is always at the cheaper end.
One of our two mogs (pictured) decided to share the love two nights ago, dumping a very alive Long Tailed Field mouse in front of me at silly o'clock, then just sat back to watch the fun!A fair amount of swearing and mayhem followed, because those little beggars can jump, but eventually I had it inside a tea towel and out of the door. Cat paid so little attention, she spent the next two hours guarding the fridge freezer, convinced my ineptitude had let it escape under there! No damage to polytunnel; just a real world test of the design for the windows to close side vents over winter.PS. Just noticed we were on Page 666 yesterday. Seem to have got away with it!

Whoo there is light!
Was getting on a dream with the housework, once this guy has been and I've booked the other jobs it will be dark again and the inspiration will be lost.
What I may do is put together my birthday present.
I got me aa weather vane
Always wanted one but couldn't find small and there it was in the hardware shop where I was getting paint and polish......
Probably best it wasn't out in those storms. It will be interesting to see how it fares.
I had a plastic ladybird for ages that used to turn with the wind till her spinner broke in a storm.
Just lets you know if north or east thermals on, west or south light jacketI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I'm in a grump today. Got my flu jab this morning, so I not only had to go into the world, but my arm stings. Covid booster booked in for Thursday so the week's not likely to get better any time soon. And it's cold and wet, so I have no enthusiasm at all for getting the house in order.
I think a hot chocolate and an unhealthy lunch might be in order to buck my mood up
For positives, on the way to the drs I did snap some pics - inc what I think (?) is a Japanese quince in bush form and a couple of determined marigolds making a break for it down a drive...
I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.9 -
They look a damn sight healthier than my marigolds, green leaves and flowery flowers 🙄
If the cushion had been even a wee bit softer I’d have had it pp, but it was sack cloth sort of material. So when himself said no it was too dear I decided to obey. This time.Himself is on a huge building site in Knaresborough, but the uhh !!!!!! discovered them the day after they started work. Let’s just say they’re being true to their cultural selves *ahem* so the lads are all working outside now. Makes for short work days when you’ve no leccy or power or a genny or indoor workspace without a sh..te in every corner. But it’s prolly racist or summat to say that so I won’t.The mouse story made me giggle Dusty. Lovely neighbour has a pair of old stone star gazy hares. I can’t remember now how much she said they cost but it was deffo into ‘how muckin fuch?!’ territory 😳 I’d sooner have a couple of those metal dogs tbh.Looking forward to a pic of 2p’s weathervane…I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6
