The Rosemoor trees - is that a picture frame round a window Dusty? I love that. I'd hang it in my hall too. Somebody needs to invent an electronic photo frame thing that's fed from an outside camera that you've pointed at some loveliness so you can always see it. That'd be good eh?
Fingers crossed there's still plenty of autumnal leaves on the trees for your walk 2p.
The rain has passed and the sun's out here now, if it wasn't for the wind it'd be a really lovely dayMy husband told me to stop speaking in numbers, but I don't 1 2.2 -
Won't be today Bluey.
Decision whether to have my old car stuck together for who knows how much or newer one I can't afford. So new tyre and book mot then frniture moving, swim and table tennis and cooking.
The only garden thing is my brass skink, been cleaning, will varnish then tack to post outside the front door.
Very windy still but the temp out of it is at last, iin double figures
Congratulations on getting a denist appointment Dusty. Hope it goes smoothly.
I lost 2 fillings last week and next appointment in December so I'm on soft foods for the foreseeable. A lot of chocolate involved.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Woke up with Debi howling like the banshee she is, but sun has come out now and just left with a stiff breeze.Oooh, a new shed Arbs, mine is metal one so rot free but does have condensation so can't have seeds etc in there, OK for bikes / mower, bean canes and the likeDustyevsky said:YoungBlueEyes said:Pretty iris there Dusty, that's a gorgeous colour. I wonder if calendar makers prowl the net to steal people's beautiful pics, there are so many on here that I'd happily have on a calendar
Fingers crossed for your rivers when it starts coming down off the hills...
Oh Farway, that's such a shame. A least the fellah was alright though, that's the main thing. Doesn't take much damage to write off a car does it. If the airbag hadn't gone off I'd be getting that one repaired if I could.
I didn't know that about birds going for certain colours of flowers, I wonder why that is? Maybe I should be happy with my burgundy ones then.I was hoping that picture would be better. It didn't come out anything like as good as the real thing.Round here, conditions test people differently from in the city, but results may be similar. In their mid-80s, people's cars often take on a slightly dog-eared look, until the inevitable happens and they announce they've 'given up driving.' It's a huge wrench, though, in a place with few services, and events miles apart. As regards that specific car, a 2013 Peugeot 208 with average mileage is worth round £3 — 4k, so it's worth someone buying the written-off car for around £500 and putting it back on the road. Plenty of s/h spares. That's especially true just now, as small cars are in hot demand while larger ones are dropping heavily, particularly diesels for ULEZ reasons.
Debi's a-roaring out there this morning, but the rain's gone.I don't care, as it's dentist first thing and my lovely usual lady is away having a baby, so I'm getting 'Damon.'
Yep, I reckon competent DIY could get it back on the road, unless the underside is "bent" because he had to crash over a railway sleeper before he hit the border & fenceI've been thinking about the border damage, unfortunately it's not just the car driving over but what happens next, fencing contactors come and stomp over it, with possibly a digger removing the concrete posts & stumps, all during the wettest coldest part of the year. It will be like battleground once they've doneI think on my next visit to Morries I'll see what shrubs are around for a couple of quid and get a couple to go in once the All Clear soundstwopenny said:Hoping to get down for a river walk before they are all gone and look at the raging torrents. Now we are onto paintings, here are the pansies I have been trying to photograph for the past week or so and managed yesterday, Framed with too much time on my hands

Oh that is beautiful!
Is the frame a real one or a photo image?I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I lost 2 fillings last week and next appointment in December so I'm on soft foods for the foreseeable. A lot of chocolate involved.Mrs Dusty seems to be back on her chocolate-embracing diet too, no doubt in preparation for that 40 days of post- festive self-denial.
Dentist was fine. Credited me with the ability to discuss several options, so I went with a bit of preventative treatment in January, rather than spin things out till next summer.
I like your frame Farway; it focuses attention and the pansy has a contemplative look to it, unusual for a perky kind of flower.Bluey, the frame around my tree picture just stands there on two legs. If it was mounted the other way around, or had two sides, people could use it to frame a female sculpture, standing nearby. In fact, I might try that anyway when I go there again with Mrs Dusty. This wind is with us for a few days, so it might not be this week. Here's a shot from the top of the woodland, high above the original garden, and with a natural frame. The RHS are recommending this woodland walk in their current magazine, but we went all the way through it and saw no one, despite the car park being busy. It's a very steep climb and the signposting to it isn't great. They're trying to create areas for more tender trees/shrubs from S America, Australia and NZ, having lost many in the winter of 2010 down in the valley bottom, which is an obvious frost pocket.
One benefit of being a 'conspiracy theorist' is having slug pellets that work.10 -
Just had a text from SP Energy (Network Operator) advising me that the Met office has a weather warning in place for Debi (Expected to bring exceptionally heavy rain and strong Westerly winds) and they're not expecting power cuts but here's the info if there are.
Not had one of those before...
Links look like general information to check if it's you or the area, inc how to check fuses etc - and you still phone 105 to inform them if it's an area problem.
Garden is already compacted and waterlogged, so I hope it's not too extreme otherwise there's no chance of me getting out there to dry anything if we have a nice day in the week.I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.4 -
Loving the framed pictures, the things you can do now eh.Jeez you don’t stop 2p, you make me feel idle just reading your posts…
A text Arb, that is odd. I get weather news flash things on my phone that are a met office notification through their app, but I’ve never seen a text before.I’m not sure this will be a flower, but my apple tree has buds on it… hopefully you all can see it through the wind and rain and darkness we’re currently (apparently) suffering 🙄My husband told me to stop speaking in numbers, but I don't 1 2.8 -

I know, I did too
Another mild morning here, just finished raining. Not sure what it's gonna do today. Drunkards say black clouds and rain 10-2 ish, Ventusky shows a rain band just a bit further north than me so no more rain for me today, and the sobers say 30% chance at 9. But the wind's gone, that's the main thing. Did anyone get any damage or are we all alright? How did dgd fare Farway?
