Like 2P, wet outside from overnight rain, but bright and sunny until the next lot arrives, it's just off Land's End according to V'sky so wet end to the day I assumePost jab ailments easing now, they never usually affect me, but I think the mixture was changed this year, extra microchips or longer lasting batteries for the AI, or something like thatI did manage to get the new honeysuckle planted yesterday, just in time because the rain started as I was going indoors. The recently planted Passion flower is now lace curtains with the slugs
, added pellets but with the rain I may be wasting my time, had to do something, apart from copious wailing & teeth gnashing, though
Best of luck with the builders Arb, a good start with the coffee, normally oils lots of wheelsIf anyone is wondering where the birds are, I have them, they have discovered my pyracantha berries and are tucking in, no parakeets or penguins as yet

Got to the otter garden centre today. Sale goods not great but did find variegated privet (with a fancy name) of a decent size and price should my lavender succumb to the mold. New thread shortly.
Loved the reindeer and the singing penguins. And the amazement of children. So that's it, Christmas done.
No wind or rain, mild. So great as those put off by the Armageddon regularly predicted meant a clear and traffic free drive.
A breeze now and a drop of wet. We'll see how it goes.

Bright and sunny first thing here, then as soon as I decided to go out for a walk it rained, then it was grey for the rest of the day. No wonder the forecasters have trouble when the weather can't stick to one mode for more than a couple of hours.
Anyway it is now officially the season of reckless spending and twinkly tat here, I came out of the library this afternoon to find all sorts of glittery illuminated imaginary conifer boughs suspended above my head in the shopping centre. It's a pity LEDs are so energy efficient that the city council and the shopping centre landlords can afford to run so many for so long and that they have such poor taste too. Surely there are companies producing really beautiful designs for temporary street illuminations somewhere in this country? Rant over, I shall stomp off to bed to dream of better weather and no nasty decorations!

Sort of drippy rain here. No wind yet so I guess as they said Wednesday night but now this morning. Was going to rain, wasn't going to rain, is going to rain it's a case of looking out the window again so no planning.
Probably won't be the garden though.
I've propped up the one pot that's big and exposed with another heavy pot.
On the good news my winter scented box that was nearly decimated by the heat has finally recovered and looking very healthy if small and bushy.
I noticed when looking for my vanishing apples that the rain has washed some little bulbs to the surface so they'll need replanting. The rest are still in the garage nice and dry.
I have some iris already green and growing out the front. Cant remember if they were the wrong ones that I wanted to move or their replacements. They'll still be some colour for the spring whichever so I'm trying not to dig them up to see
At the moment the sky is pale blue with plenty of high white cloud and its bright. Always makes you feel better when it's bright whatever the weather.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Farway's picture of Stourhead brought back pleasant memories; unfortunately, pre-digital ones.
All I have to offer is a Rosemoor from the same time of year, with the same old oak tree!
:
I finally discovered how to get the photos out of my phone (using the right cable helps!) only to discover well over 600 pictures the previous owner had amassed, which promptly caused my photo computer to have a crisis reaction.
Well, that's normal, these days.....
By mid-afternoon it'll probably be self identifying as a fridge-freezer....or maybe a singing penguin.
While the above is a long-winded way of saying 'no new pictures of plants' I can do you another photo along the lines of the impractical rhomboid roll. Now, I don't know about you, but in order to use my hedge trimmer, I need around 25-40m of cable on a big cable reel. I don't think it's too hard to see what the problem is!!!!This time it's a long-handled hedge trimmer from the Lidl stable, but I imagine all will now be the same, because some blimmin' decree or other, most likely in Brussels, seems to demand such goods must now come with a 3 pin plug!
That's a wonderful thing to have hanging off yer trimmer, and it also seems to allow the manufacturer to now dispense with the traditional 10 metres of cable:

I think I'll go for a cordless hedge trimmer in future, Dusty, that's ridiculous.
Cold, wet and windy here today - a complete contrast from yesterday (apart from the cold bit) - luckily it stayed dry and clear last night for the kids to go out guising, with a very spooky looking moon adding to the atmosphere. We didn't get anyone knocking, so the Freddos and Fudges are all mine to scoff later haha.'A watched potato will never chit'...4 -
Rain & gales due here later today, but I'm ready for it, Asda delivery arrived this morning, so I'm all right Jack!Very unlikely I'll be venturing even a toe out into the gardentwopenny said:Got to the otter garden centre today. Your bulbs on the surface, sure it's not squirrels? The devils dig them up at the volunteer place and I have to keep burying them again, I think they like them but once dug up they change their mindsDusty, that trimmer plug is a joke, beyond daft. Interim update - showing the width of the hedge they're taking down... probably planted when the properties were built 50+ years ago
Neighbour's three hedges, plus one of mine would be something like 100 m2 of hedge. The chipper will be getting a good workout tomorrow.I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.6 -
Ooooo that's a lot.
Though saying that I inherited a mixed hedge that had over run and once cut into and bought back to a size I could manage was lovely and got compliments.
A really nice backdrop.
