twopenny said:But on a brighter side here's one that made me smile - problem is only one reason for lambs near Christmas timeForcast was rain all day but it's still dry if chilly and cloudy. Same 'rain' for the forseeable. No lambs here, but then these were the lambs earlier in the year.Same neatly cut hedges, apart from 'ours!' I think the hedge is actually a shared one with the boundary in the middle, but him over there says it's all ours. I've asked how we cut the other side of it and he doesn't answer. Another landowner has the same problem further down, but in our case it's not a serious issue. Most of that boundary is under oaks, where hedge growth is minimal. About every 4 or 5 years, I go in here with a chain saw and we get lots of kindling and pea sticks. 'He' quietly gets the face of his side cut annually, so we're all happy. We didn't get the promised rain either.Today, after saying it would be unsettled, the drunks are saying it will be lovely till mid-afternoon, but I must go to the hardware emporium to collect the latching hasps for the polytunnel doors that we forgot about."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Your path looks good 2p, I'm glad it worked despite the rain
And awww babby lambs
You can't beat the waxy smell of them when they're only young, it's one of my favourite smells. And I agree about pegs, they have a million uses. If I want my curtains holding back (if I'm washing the windows or something) I use a scrunchie. Or a cable tie
I like the look of the panel that's resting against your fence, whatever it is...?
Good luck with 'worm force' Eeny. Do worms eat vine weevils? That'll be a winner if they do eh.
Yesterday the forecast for today was mild and sunny spells. Well it's been pouring with rain these last 3 hours. Checked the forecast (Ventusky) there now and it says cloudy all day, rain at about 10ish. Drunkards and sobers have given sunny spells and scattered showers from this aft. You wonder why they bother ha haa!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
That's a hand carved African panel which may have been part of a chest or may have been for tourists.
Found in a village charity shop for £3. Went in for curtains but couldn't resist this.
It doesn't have a home yet.
Sunny spells forecast. Going on a walk on the hills so they'd better be right.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Worms that eat vine weevil... I think that's another one of your creative ideas Bluey. What a great idea. I don't know about that but it would be nice if they do. They're not really a problem in the garden, just the containers, where they nibble at the roots until there's nothing left. I used to sweep the leaves from a nearby beech tree under the 'skirt' of the conifer but they take ages to rot down so this year it's getting a treat! (The blackbirds often nest in the top half
)
The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Here it's been damp this morning but is supposed to be fine for most of the day, rain in the early evening maybe?
Good... because I left a pair of leggings out from my wash... a couple of days ago now... I keep forgetting them/they keep getting rained on. Today's the day I remember to bring them in
Very little happening in the garden atm. The builder is coming back on Friday to discuss the next 'phase' of works (in the back this time) and I'm trying to decide if I've got the cash this close to Christmas to get everything that involves a digger done at once.I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.3 -
Eenymeeny said:Worms that eat vine weevil... I think that's another one of your creative ideas Bluey. What a great idea. I don't know about that but it would be nice if they do.There are nematodes; tiny worms that eat the grubs from the inside. They need warmth to multiply, and by the time I start seeing (and thinking about) vine weevil grubs, it's getting cooler at night. When we had a nursery, we used nematodes, but we were more 'on their case' than now, with many other distractions. On the Delta Sarahs, it was my impatience rather than bugs that was the problem. I over-potted them, and their roots weren't up to it when the weather made the pots very soggy.

Cool but sunny after rain overnight, and the garden is still dripping.May I put an order in for vine weevil eating worms? Like Eeny I suffer from VW in pots and the killer mixture is just too expensive to make it worthwhile with the plants I attempt to growI'm gradually learning what not to grow in pots, a bit like learning not to bother trying to grow crocus with my squirrels. Now if only squirrels ate vine weevils, with a side helping of Lily BeetlesOnly bit of garden related, if it dries out enough, is trundle my garden waste wheelie round the back and mooch about a bit while trying to think where I could squeeze my rose cutting in, I don't want to leave it in its pot due to the previously mentioned weevils who are bound to strike sooner or laterEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens3

2p can I ask what you used on the paths? And is it ok to use on natural stone? You may have said and I missed it, sorry.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.1

Morning Wort. You sound up and ready this morning
Thee bottle for the organic one I bought is called Algon but there are all sorts the same.
Path patio and deck cleaner.
Suitable for brick, flags, stone, concrete, indian sandstone, paviours, wood, roof tiles, glass, plastic, fabric awnings, polycarbonate, artificial grass, polytunnels.
Keep pets off till dry.
There are lts of others. If you have something special it's worth going to Amazon or similar where questions are answered or reviews may mention.
Takes about a week to get going and should keep working for 6 months to a year.
I'm chuffed because it's easier than pressure washing and I can see the slabs through the windows from every room and it's not good watching them get dirtier all winter.
Going to try it on the window sills (concrete) and the block paving that I have to work so hard on.
Mind if that dissolved I wouldn't be sad!
You put it on with a watering can but neighbour uses a spray. I'm going to fill a small spray bottle for sills etc.
Wrap any overhanging plants before you start.
Bluey, today you're off? Bon voyage
Well darn! Neighbours moving in before I got my rose cuttingsI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Let's hope the new neighbours are real gardeners 2p, then you may still get your cuttings!Have a great trip, Bluey. I know you will! Not much to report here, weatherwise; just more heavy shower roulette, but pleasantly warm and soggy between them.In one of yesterday's brighter interludes, I managed a decent photo of my fuchsia that's like poppy's, so here it is:And here's poppy's photo to contrast and compare. Absolutely no LUTs involved here!
