Lovely fuchsia pics, Dusty. I didn't know that there were so many varieties! I like fuschias but have found that the ones in the ground survive while the pot ones need 'treatment'. I like heucharas too which are also targets. I haven't found roses a problem but maybe that's in the 'not yet category' I bought a few bottles of the bug clearing stuff last year at £10 and I see now that they're asking £15 for it. 50% increase is ridiculous! (I have found that they leave Heuchara Marmalade untouched in my garden if that's any help to anyone. (I'm testing Brass Lanterns at the moment, it survived last year!
Enjoy your trip Bluey, we'll miss you!The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.
Thanks to everyone who contributes to this wonderful forum. I'm very grateful for the guidance and friendliness that I always receive from you.

Enjoy your trip Bluey, we'll miss you!, I also thought roses I were VW proof but found out one in a pot succumbed, luckily it transplanted just in time, so I think I saved that.
Heuchara Marmalade, just give them time, scoffed my one in the groundThe increase in killer I think may be linked to oil prices, they're a derivative, most things are of course despite the protesters, still makes it prohibitive thoughThis morning I was listening to Farming Today, seems the only decent, fairly selective, bracken killer is being withdrawn because it needs extra testing and the likely profits just do not warrant the tests costs, so now bracken will gradually spread

Thanks 2p , as long as it doesn’t involve too much scrubbing or pressure washing ( I’m on a water meter) I’ll give it a go. Might need to wait till weather gets better, it’s currently damp ,a mist this morning that’s slow to disperse. With what looks like rain around 3pm.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.4

Farway, thanks for the VW advice. It's so disappointing when you see the tops just blow away.... I've noticed that bees loved the flowers, now if we could create some kind of bug warfare there....The beautiful thing about learning is nobody can take it away from you.

Your fuchsia looks the same as mine, Dusty. Lovely pic of it. I remember seeing one years ago in a park - my mum took a sneaky cutting and got it to root, only for it to curl up and die months later.
Happy holidays, YBE
I wish I had some of that path cleaner stuff - it would be perfect weather for it to be sprayed on today. I could do with it being sprayed on my roof tbh - I know the moss is supposed to be left, but the birds don't seem to know that and every day there's big chunks of it on the driveway...'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -
I met with the builder today to have another chat about the planned works (and change the plan a bit...)
He is replacing all three sides of my neighbours garden with fencing, and was just going to dig out the bottom of my garden to put in a shed base, but it's kind of wet and cold with the ground not waterlogged, but close, so that seemed kind of a bad idea.
Now I think (pending him confirming costs) he's going to do everything that requires a digger (levelling out where the shed's going and putting in the footings for the raised bed), and replace the hedge on the other side of my garden with a matching fence (leaving the bottom for a screen at the back plus for the birds). He's starting with the neighbour again on Monday and will run our two jobs together to make best use of the digger and rubbish removal.
He let slip the neighbour is paying £7k for the fencing (40 panels), so a back of the envelope suggests my 15 should be somewhere around two and a half to three...?
The 'lawn' area of the back is going to get really churned up, so I'm getting some meadow seed to chuck down when they're done - and I'm also thinking I'll ask them to dig the holes for my trees (due to be delivered in December as 1 or 2 year pot grown).I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.5 -
Wow that's a great builder you've got there Abs.
Hang on to him.
All sounds good.
Wort you've been reading my mind about the moss on the roof. I had the same passing thought!
After the summer we've had it keeps going into the gutter or on the path.
I've managed to dead head the rose arch. Seems hip? Was fine with steps and bending, just not standing straight
Otherwise I went to hardware shop and bought a tub. I've got cheap bags but the tubs are easier to transport and fill. Managed to come away without a bumble bee troll to hang in my window
I could have done more as the predicted rain didn't arrive but went to see a Grayson Perry exhibition instead.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

In a fuchsia fancier's world, that's enough of a difference to suspect two varieties, closely related. It doesn't matter to us 'normal' folks, though; they're both equally pretty!
It's been a lovely autumn day here, despite the warnings of random heavy showers, especially on the coast. My walking friend and I opted for an inland trail, and it turned out to be sunshine all the way there, and most of the return trip too. 'There' was a delightful wooden hut cafe in an orchard, which I didn't expect to still be open. (Not my photo - it was sunny for us.) According to the pedometer, 6.3 miles trudged and my legs are feeling it now!
