That's ambitious Abs....but I'm sure you can do it. Looking forward to the progress. Do you measure every few days and keep a record? My GAunt used to get me doing that with cucumbersI have a little something from wandering around a village this took my eye - love the name!Anyone here got the patience to do this?Or anyone know where you get ideas or techniques to do it? Not that I've got time but intrigued.Weather started warm if cloudy and no wind but went downhill from there to dull, drizzle but not enough to wet the path. It's very dull almost like dusk an hour early.Tomorrow a day of sunny intervals predicted. I hope so because I'm off on a photo excursion with the group tomorrow.I'll look out for Bumblebums

Looking forward to Shoo Fly pics now too. I had to D'Duck them when you mentioned them but I really like the look of them
Will you find someone to sort out your van Dusty? Fingers crossed you can get it sorted and through it's mot. And good luck to MrsD for the show, is that soon is it? Hopefully the council will do what's rightFarway's flower is so good, I don't think mine will offer much competition.Van is booked in with an elderly local chap who runs a tax avoidance scheme the government are hoping to shut down soon, but not before next week.
Show's tomorrow, but Mrs Dusty is doing strange things for it, like baking, so it's anyone's guess what will happen.
It appears much of my produce isn't considered good enough this year!
Council has a big court case on this week, but I don't think they would be rushing to reply anyway. Grapevine tells me our adversaries have, as predicted, misinterpreted what was posted publicly, which may just be a badly-written catch-all they add to the end of many of their official pronouncements. If it's specific to us, then I've insisted the council justify it. Either way, we've been put in an invidious position. There's always a bright side, though,
so while we've been held-up by all the legal shenanigans, I've re-designed the actual works, replacing fences with hedging and saving £££. I couldn't get bare root stuff in June, but in two months or so....
We've had a misty, moisty, start here, with a fine day in prospect. I will spend a bit of it trying to win the confidence of the sheep, who are eyeing me with great suspicion. In other news, on Wednesday a ferret on holiday climbed Snowdon, while last Sunday I took this picture and felt a little sad:"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." It's part of eccentric Britishness.I think I posted the of the fake speed camera chap in a village we pass through regularly, but I still haven't snapped The Dark Knight in armour hiding behind a telegraph pole yet. He's impossible to capture while driving, so I need Mrs Dusty at the controls to get him here."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity4

Back to daily normal. Sun's out & quite mild, I may just get round to having a go this afternoon at the giant buddleia near my garage if it keeps dry & bright enoughI ate my Pinova apple yesterday, the one that is supposed to be a cross between Cox & Golden D, I had it with some Stilton & mature Cheddar, and it was gorgeous. Slightly sharp initially, but sweetness come through, crisp & crunchy. And I only had one fruit, but now I need to really really look after that tree for next year.Honestly folks, if you come across Pinova and have space, buy it, you can thank me later! Here's the Shoo Fly at the volunteer spot, they are self sown in a large pot. Very neglected, dried in summer and late germinating etc with poor soilIn good soil & warm weather they will easily reach waist high, these are about four to six inched high but have made a nice late summer splashEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5

O love the shoo fly Farway.
Just back from a nursery sale my sis took me to, 40% off all dying things basically. I picked up a passiflora had 1 before that died when I was moving stuff and chopped it back . Was thinking this one is decent size can go up the arch with the clematis. Picked up a tiny lamium to go in my pot but looking at the the conditions it likes it might not like the pot🤨
I was tempted by a mallow but although I’m hankering after 1 I’m not sure where I can shoe horn one in🤔
Supposed to be dry all day according to the beeb, so washing is out and it’s looking rather dark on the horizon!!!I definitely don’t have the patience for any garden statue people made of fruit and flowers. But great fun to see what creative folk can do.
The swallows make a great photo, didn’t there used to be a famous pic of birds on a wire?I’ve heard quite a few geese making their way out of here before the cold sets in.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.4 -

Like Monty Python's 'funniest joke in the world,' it might have lethal consequences.....well, it almost did, if a certain person dared to play it in the house I once shared! At your own risk!

I know there are many paintings of birds and wires, and I like Farway's analogy with a musical stave, but to keep this on-topic there's also a flower that's supposed to look like budgies on a perch:https://www.plant-world-seeds.com/store/view_seed_item/846

Hey it's quiet around here!
I've got rain at last so everything is too wet to go out in. Feels chilly too but I think that's more about the contrast with the recent heat.
Set for the foreseeable. Well it would be what with me planning the weekend catching up on the garden.
Bulbs for sale in Proper Job. Tempted. But I really ought to double check what I've got.
Been tricky with the baked soil and neighbours cat digging up what I've already planted.
So it's more planning than doing.
I'm better at thinking about it than getting on with it at the momentI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

I'm in and out today, with the village market and the Garden Club Show.
Managed to buy some Elephant Garlic in the market, so must make sure SiL doesn't cook it this year!
No time now, so here are some of the sheep in a shot I forgot to post yesterday. Bums in this picture too!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity5
