Sorry, it's the yellow belly that does it for me - it looks like a normal fly with some horrible infection
I just can't stand them.
I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.2 -

My B+M does some gardening bits, nothing startling, it's like Lidl/Aldi - a rack full of stuff that sits outside and gets dragged in overnight.I'm internet chatting with a retired planning consultant, so I'm pretty sure it is PD, but the other bit we've had to go through was legit. It cost nothing but frayed nerves. Now, though, the publicly viewable notice resulting from that says we will need to get PP, so of course our adversaries will expect it. Given that they've already been horrible on the basis of nothing at all, the council's pronouncement certainly hasn't helped us.
I've emailed. It's better not to put officials on the spot and go all adversarial. That comes later when they don't give the answer required! Our nearest B&M has quite a large garden section at the back, but it was so badly looked-after, I had to come out on the one time I went in there!

Now you've said horrible infection I can see what you mean...
I thought it looked like a pyracanthus berry had evolved and grown wings + legs, but all in black so it didn't distract from it's little berry-body.
They've put up a notice with the wrong information on it? That's a blow you don't need eh. Yep always play nice 'til you get what you want, all signed sealed delivered and locked away, then you can take the face off people
Just to try to bring it back OT - still raining, no wind.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3 -
It's been sunny and pleasant here. I'm halfway through giving the van its annual pre-test wash.
Now I hear sheep are on the way here, so I must plug a few fence gaps and murder the one ragwort I spotted yesterday!
I think the 'wrong information' is probably a standard couple of sentences they add to all decisions posted on-line. It's quite possible the person who drafted them didn't duly consider the difference between “would need” and “may need.” It's substantial, but I can live with it if that's what's happened."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Man didn't come for car, mate has covid so he has double the work.Plumber came and glued every thing in the toilet cistern because it wouldn't leak for him.I looked at the lawn and had invite to sea swim but basically I'm just done in. Looks like I'm going round in circles and getting nowhere so began to work on a complete revamp of the garden (my happy place) even though I can barely raise an eyebrow.Best news in I found the courage to scrape some bark from one of the leafless potted gooseberries and it's green! Yipee. It's been very warm when the suns been out but windy which has got up now and the evenings are really cooling off.So here's a triumph - managed to get second blooms from the orchids I bought last spring. That's been a real bonus because the little ones I only paid £2.50 reduced and i've had fountains of flowers
and the big one has 7 massive flowers on it so that's months of flowers for very little.
I think I've got the hang of it now. Only downside is smell of compost in the living room!I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Ah 2p Hooray for orchids and gooseberries but boooo for car and petulant leaks
What kind of garden revamp are you thinking of...?
Lovely cool evenings here too. I'd say the sun still has some warmth but we didn't see it at all yesterday. It stopped raining overnight some time and the paths are dry out there now so I hope it lasts cos I've the rest of the washing and the food shop to do.
I'm the other way round with my good news/bad news. My jalopy passed it's mot and only a couple of ignorable advisories, but my swish rose has sawyfly! You called it Arb. The other swish rose had a couple of munched leaves but no black slashes so I nipped tho damaged leaves off. No sign of acrobatic critters though, so I'm hoping it was a wandering intruder that had it's fill and wandered back to the other rose again. Gawd my heart did sink when I saw all the black streaks. I cut those parts of the branches + stems off so it's ...clean? now but it does look a bu99er
And I've still no blackies and my cyclamen are fine, thank you very much St Fiacre
Honestly, what's the point of bargaining with saints you don't believe in if they aren't going to hold up their end of the deal?! This is why I'm agnostic.
2p are you redoing your garden from the knowledge in your head or do you have some good websites to consult...? I haven't started that other thread yet, the area really needs a tidy before I can take any sort of useful 'before' photos. Might actually get it tidied and leave it til the spring cos it's getting a bit late now. I'll see what himself thinks....

There were loads of these streaks so I gave the whole thing a bluddy good trimming :’(I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5

Going to be quick because I have a whole day off to myself!
Sun is shining, picnic at the beach day.
I now have masses of painting to do to the property so garden planning is off. Just eyed the raspberries which have more rust so the rest must be chopped. And blackfly chomping on garlic chives again so they're for the trim and the wisteria.
Box blight has progressed so hedge very ropey. Only cut i did with a hedge trimmer just before monty said don't
So you aren't the only one with problems Blue. Your rose will perk up. Give it a bit of bfb while the weather is still mild.
Don't use a planner, copied lots of photos researching from the internet but it ended up by instinct and not a great one. Lovely thing with gardens is they are free to change :-)
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Dull & a bit cooler here, with a stiff breeze as well. Plenty of yellowing leaves outside, looks like summer is now overGood news on MOT YBE, shame about the rest, but the possible expensive bit is the car so not too badEnjoy your picnic 2P, see you tomorrow, and your goosegog is good news, they do seem tough, except my Norwegian Blue one which suddenly realised it missed the fiords and slipped into a permanent comaIf it doesn't rain I hope to do the final pruning of the fruit trees this afternoon, now it's dried out a bitGood news on my Bishop's Children from seed, you may recall I was hoping for an orange one? Well I have one now, it opened this morning, and it has nice deeply cut foliage as a bonus. I'll get a photo of flower once it puts some makeup onEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens4

Congrats on the car, Bluey.
My big van is being 'gone over' as I type, and I fear the tester may say it has indeed 'gone over' in a manner like the horticultural sense! I'm in that cleft stick where no MoT cert = £peanuts and getting one may cost more than the potential price increase. Estimate at present about £600, but could be more. There may well be things I don't know about.
Sunny and not overly chilly this morning, but condensation in the conservatory told a story. I was barbecuing in the dark last night, as sheep arrived late and there was an hour's compulsory chinwag. I seem to be alive, so everything was cooked, after a fashion. It was steak anyway.I will go and see the little darlings in a mo. There are 15, and they're tiny because the fences are a bit wobbly. Apparently they'll stay until spring, and if they eat the amount of grass out there, they'll be a lot bigger then!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson.
