Gotta say, I did like our old creamy concrete tiles, we just couldn’t get any more of the same so himself wanted what we have now, having seen his boss’s.This is really just a notion of prices cos your project is a whole thing! I reckon all that’ll be sore on your purse, and we’ll worth it when it’s finished
I’ll pm you the stone company details, to keep you going here’s our list -
14 sleepers £350 (is that what your brown bits are..?12T hardcore £700
6 bags of cement powder £180
2T sand £150
Kandla Grey Indian Sandstone 36 sqm £763 (we got a few extra cos then free delivery kicked in)
Dark grout resin stuff 2 buckets £90
2 days big boy tool hire £120 (whackaplate and cement mixer)
So lots different to yours but that’s an idea of some prices at least. We’re in East Yorkshire, for reference.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3 -
Thank you lovely
At the very least it should stop those brambles coming back if we've dumped a ton of concrete on top!
I'll be taking pics and putting them on my other thread when it's all agreed and underway. Promise.
OT: It's been a tad wet here today. I'm still hearing it blow a gale as I try to settle for the night. I did nip out earlier (then get distracted) to check on and take a picture of my squash. Seems to be doing okay despite the decidedly damp and autumn conditions. It's still got a ton of flowers, and has opened several more females, but not a single male - they obviously don't like either the heat or the cold or the wet...
But I did say I'd be happy with one, and I am

Aww NO ! Just seen your sawfly YBE , I reckon I have it too! Spotted yesterday whilst in garden and thought I’ll leave those cute caterpillars they may be beautiful butterflies. Shows what I know. There was what looked like caterpillars poo on the leaves beneath, no doubt that was some other dreaded thing. I’m at work today so will need to check Friday, if weather is ok. A lot of geranium under the rose so can’t see the ground there either, can I cut right down rose there’s no flowers on it anyway? We have 2 B and M the one in town is sans garden stuff the one a drive away has large garden bit used to be a home base. I had picked up pack of6 cyclamen for a fiver and 3 heather for six. Those have been put in a pot for autumn colour near the front door with my little Xmas tree from last year at the back. I used the pot my dead eucalyptus was in.
shifted a few of my tall yellow daisies to a spot where I’ll be able to see them next year, at the moment they hide behind the shrubs. Probably not the best time to do it but I’ll forget what’s what by the time is right.
It was decent day so got a good shift in the garden, also cleaned the sand off the windows on Tuesday. No thunderstorm here though my niece kept seeing lightening on Saturday when at a party but as she was the only one seeing it, we thought she’d drunk too much 😂😂
Had to put the light on this morning to get ready for work, horrible dark mornings and nights drawing in too.Good luck with the show Dusty.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5 -
You're welcome Arb. Those are normal shop prices, not tradesman discount or getting stuff from work or whatever. So your stuff will be cheaper but the labour bill will be, erm, yeah
That's a good looking squash, it might only be one but at least it is one. Guard it with your life!
Oh wort, not you tooI only put the pic on here cos the sun just caught my rose perfectly and I thought the caterpillars were kinda comical. So ditto on the "shows what I know". Mornings and evenings seem to have got dark all of a sudden eh? No gradation to it this year.... Seems like a couple of weeks ago it's was curtains closed and lights on about 10pm. now we're hardly making it 'til 8pm. At this rate it'll be xmas next weekend
I hope you have another lovely day at the beach 2p, let them shoulders drop another 3 inchesIs it a busy beach or do you get it all to yourself?
Rained a lot of the night here I think, been raining since I got up. Just a gentle rain but you'd be soaked if you were out too long in it. The drunkards have given it all day really, the other 2 aren't even showing it as it's happening. Might have to start calling them the Devonians again if they're to be getting it right.
Himself has a couple of days off work so we're away for the weekend. I managed to keep my mouth shut but a little voice in my head said "no no NO, I'm on swish rose watch! I can't leave them now!" Gawd help me.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
Oh, so it's bee bum photos now, is it?
Ah, well, I have one of those handy.
Shot last week on a comfrey hedge I have, edging the wild area at the end of the fields. It's still merrily blooming, because this clone doesn't set seed. I wouldn't have the one that does!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity5 -
Ooh that's a good pic, look at those wings!I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.3

Arb, is your squash 'Butterbush?' That's a little one I grew last year. T'was OK and not greedy for space, though having no shortage of that, I usually plant 'Waltham' or 'Hunter,' which keep well.Have a good break, Bluey, sawfly aren't the end of the world, and if they come at the end of the season, even less of a problem.I'm not entering the show, wort, but Mrs Dusty accepts your good luck.
I might grow things, but it's always Mrs Dusty who selects, titivates and presents. There are little knacks, tricks, and rules that go way above my head.
I have patio envy now! I'm not a big fan of real stone, especially if it's not well-calibrated and I'm laying it, but there are some good 'posh' concrete ones.
2p, I hope your car is a little younger than my van, which is a 2002 model. It only has minimal van mileage on it, though, as it spent its first 7 years generating electricity and providing hot water washing facilities at the side of the road for Transco. As the tester man said “It's blooming brilliant to drive....but I have to fail it!”
EDIT: The folk down in Exeter are saying sunny intervals for now...and we must be in a non-sunny one! After that it will be cloudy and calm with a high of 19c. I may be high if the council come back with an answer for me today."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity3 -
I've got sunshine at least, but another needing light on first thing, clocks change soon so whatever it's going to get darker at one end of the dayThe van sounds a stalwart Dusty, hope you can get it sorted, way back when it was born there were welders everywhere if you recall, it was a full time job for lots of people, welding plates onto car jacking points, sills onto Cortinas, sub frames on Minis etc. It must have been a devil of a job designing cars with salty wet mud trapsHope you get the "right" answer from the Council, and nice bee bum pic, and the wings details.I may have to water again here, no rain to speak of for past few days, rained but not enoughI did manage to get out & finish off the fruit tree pruning, all neat & tidy now, ready to get on forming those fruit buds for next yearI have some raspberry flowers from wayward suckers, good for bees but no chance of fruit nowIt's volunteer meeting this afternoon so hopefully the Shoo Fly plants will be fully open and time for a picHere is my orange tinted Bishop's Child dahlia from seed, not a large flower but plenty of buds to coming onEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7

That's a beautiful flower Farway, I can see why you waited for it to put it's makeup on
Looking forward to Shoo Fly pics now too. I had to D'Duck them when you mentioned them but I really like the look of them
Will you find someone to sort out your van Dusty? Fingers crossed you can get it sorted and through it's mot. And good luck to MrsD for the show, is that soon is it? Hopefully the council will do what's rightI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.5 -

For next year, I've got the rest of the seed packet (good to 2025) but I've also got packets of Uchiki Kuri (also 2025), Baked Potato, and Waltham. Plus for other cucurbits, I've got Sure Thing, All Green Bush, Atena Yellow, and Cucamlon. So looking at the packet dates, I'm thinking baked potato, and waltham, plus green bush and Atena - ideally two of each, if I have a large enough raised bed by then.I'm not an early bird or a night owl; I’m some form of permanently exhausted pigeon.4
