Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Started out sunny this morning, I went up and watered the large pots at volunteer place, forecast is baking today, but it looks like another lie because it's dull now, but warmtwopenny said:
Bulbs for sale in Proper Job. Tempted. But I really ought to double check what I've got.
Been tricky with the baked soil and neighbours cat digging up what I've already planted.
So it's more planning than doing.
I'm better at thinking about it than getting on with it at the momentTrouble is, I need it to be a forever, squirrel free, home for them where they can settle in and pop up every springI'm trying to buy pansies plugs from T & M, free post this weekend, but when I get to checkout they slap postage on, so looks like I will be back to plan A, which was getting some cheapo ones from Morries.Plan is to plant them in the pots / troughs near the volunteer place entrance to brighten the way in during the winter / springManaged to give the giant buddleia a good seeing to yesterday, I can get my car out now without driving into a jungle canopy. Still some left to do, but the garden wheelie bin is full and collection is over a week away before I can have another goNice pic Dusty, very pastoral, and bach to music, where sheep may safely grazeEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens2 -
Well they look happy and chilled out Dusty, so result
Went out for some screws and a lampshade and screws but came back with a weather vane (always wanted one) and some more dutch iris all to cheer next spring.
Also 2 small chrysanthimums to go in troughs outside the kitchen door. £2'50 from Tesco.
They are £1,25 at morrisons but they haven't shown signs of blooming or are wilted and dead.
One thing being a garden lover is always looking forward to the perfect next year

There could be, but that's not the way we farm. They'll make better Mums in a year or so.
Mrs Dusty did well in the show, with a couple of cups and 9 first prizes.o:) To put it in context, there's over 70 classes. A few years ago it would have been harder, but we're still very low on membership since a certain event. More equitable than in 2019, however, when one person won more than half the sections. I recall some grim faces that year!

Dull & definitely cooler & breezier this morning, still needed to water the front pots first thing, after a heroic struggle trying to get the childproof top off a fresh bottle of Phostrogen liquid fertiliser, the simple push down & twist sort
.
I may have to decant it if I struggle next time, I have a handy lemonade bottle aroundI'm not intending to do much else except watch Beechgrove & GW, I think there's a bit about Cape Primroses on GW so be maybe see if any tips thereEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens4 -
Torrential rain, thunder and lightning!
Seems we're getting the months worth. Sounds like the rain could take the tiles off. Too dark to do anything inside either so it's a relaxing day.
Darn chilly too.
One thing is that hopefully I'll be able to get on with planting and moving at last if and when this stops.
Still getting runners and tomatoes. Even a couple of plums ripening if they're still on the tree and not knocked off by the torrents.
I thought GW was better the last few weeks, at least Monty slots. I've had some useful advice. But fed up with all the swanning around unachievable gardens for most of us.
Perhaps I'll watch Beechgrove today. I've found that a bit too much the other way in the past.
Time to pull the plug on the wifi. Had the router knocked out one year. Same as the whole area. That was a pain.

We've had a couple of cousins in their 80s visiting us; one from well north of PP!
It bucketed down the whole time they were here, so no guided tour today. I'm whacked anyway.
According to the tipplers, it's going to rain for another hour at least, but it's just stopped. There's been no thunder and lightning around these parts. Mrs Dusty tells me the stream is running, so I'd guess the river is looking healthier than it was yesterday, when it was down near June levels again.Maybe I'll wander down, check the sheep and pick the last of the outdoor tomatoes. After that deluge, I'm sure they will be the last!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity4 -
Of course the thunder, rain etc arrived here as I was settling down to Beechgrove, had to put the light on it was so dark. Good job I had watered the pots first thingBirchgrove fairly uninspiring, but there was a Brummie in charge of some garden in Skye, global boiling forcing Southern species further North?Gardeners W usual stuff, with someone's pond larger than many of our gardens, Monty must have had a pay rise 'cos he's soon ripping out hedges etc and planting fresh stuffNow off to skim though two plant catalogues that arrived yesterdayEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6

I got my plants in Friday afternoon, then did a bit of moving of yellow daisies. Probably not the best idea but I’ll forget otherwise.
work all weekend so not seen any weather, but it’s not rained.
well done Mrs Dusty 👏🏻 I hope the sheep are ok, and the tomatoes are tasty. Supermarket ones are hit and miss , so I tend to buy the huge tub of sunblush ones from Costco , very tasty 🤤
the furry fellow is here ,just head butting me to stroke him , so will sign off.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5 -
wort said:I hope the sheep are ok, and the tomatoes are tasty. The sheep are fine. They've explored the territory thoroughly now and seem to have settled-in, so I was able to get closer today.
Wait until February, when I'm serving supplementary sheep nuts and hay; they'll be eating from my hands then!
Sometimes, if there are, say, 30 larger animals, in February I'll use a trough, fill it while they're at the other end of the field and then run! The big ones can have you off your feet if there's a rush.Quite a mix this year...."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity5 -
Good buy Wort, especially when it's something you need. Do you think it's healthy enough to survive the winter or will you wait to plant it out?
Morries sale are are all definitely dead plants. They have a cheek tthey really do. It's all rubbish with the new owners. Not a clue.
Dusty, can you paint your planting garlic with blue food colouring to keep it safe?
Farway, watering you and me both. I finally got around to liquid feeding all my pots just before our storms.
Looks like the weather is debatable. Could be heavy rain and hail or sunny spells and showers.
Seems it's all guess work so no idea but it's way too wet and cold out there so far to mow and prune.
