Awful weather - typical Brits talk

I think it’s probably the smaller cyclamen, twopenny. Took a pic this morning and only two colours showing, but there’s definitely 3 different coloured plants in there and lots of buds.
My Calamondin is doing well 🍊 considering I kept forgetting to water and feed it...
It’s dry but a bit chilly this morning 🥶 forecast is for thundery showers this afternoon ☔️'A watched potato will never chit'...4 -
Forgot to say your plums crab apples are an amazing colour, Farway. The tree near us is just bog standard green fruit, but it is definitely a tree shape, not an upright variety. No idea of the name, unfortunately, but it has beautiful pink and white flowers in the Spring.'A watched potato will never chit'...3

Weather cold and wet.
Running around trying to find bathroom stuff and repeatedly told 'out of stock'. The guy who came didn't know what was agreed to be done. The window woman didn't shout at me.
I was looking forward to getting into the garden to relax but not to be.
Jasmine and rose leaves turning yellow and brown and the lilac is shedding it's leaves so autumn in august!
Enjoying the fruits of your labours, just wish they were mine
Tomorrow should be sunny but I'll be in town. Tbh I'm quite looking forward to an mri as it's chance to lay down in peace
Maybe tomorrow afternoon I could mow a lawn......not often you look forward to that.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
viral kindness .....kindness is contageous pass it on
The only normal people you know are the ones you don’t know very well

Hope all goes well with the mri, twopenny.
I spotted these today so will be keeping a beady eye on them over the next few days...
The weather forecast has improved since I last looked and we’re due to have a dry sunnyish day tomorrow 😎'A watched potato will never chit'...4 -
Ah sorry Farway, I forgot about your recalcitrant plum tree!
I don't think before I speak sometimes
How's the house-ripping-to-bits going 2p? Did you source your bathroom things? Must be a relief to get started eh. How long do they reckon it'll take?
Re the tv licence - I thought I understood it but then when you start reading...! I didn't realise the ...dubious.... lengths they go to, nor the virtriol that some people have for them. Isn't A Whole Thing! My ignorance knows no bounds apparently. If I was as principled as I like to think I am I'd give it up purely because of their practices, but himself wouldn't stick that so.... Gritted teeth and all that.
I'll look for that Russell Brand thing this aft Dusty. I'm not a fan of his tbh, but if he's reigned himself in it sounds tolerable. It's a shame he's such a disagreeable character cos some of the things he says I actually agree with. I like your mil's plants, especially the glossy leaved one. The one behind it looks like rasps to me ha haa! Have you managed to put the small persons to work entertain the small persons?
Arb I'm sure I read on here somewhere (not this thread, maybe the Old School Moneysaving one?) that a woman had a few strawb plants in little pots and what should she do with them. She built a really secure raised bed (to stop the roots and runners taking over the place) and stuck them all in there. She took a picture of it when she'd was done, it looked rather good
I wish I had the weather/greenhouse to grow a calamondin, I really like the look of yours ppAnd such pretty cyclamen too. Who was it said that they self-seed very happily? So I got a tray of mixed ones yesterday to go along my front fence. Got a couple of what look like wee pampas grasses too. They're for backbone now I can see what the final shape of my garden will be. Just one more area to figure out, then it's hopefully just titivating and dead-heading and swishing about the place in a flowy dress and summer hat :fingerscrossed:
OT Sunny and cool. Actually it was almost cold when I got up this morning, 8' my phone said, and breezy with it. I had to give in and put socks onThe afternoons are warm and dry though. Big lot of rain moving in tonight/tomorrow I saw on the weather, but it'll just be the SW that gets it. They say.
I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
I forgot - here’s the mystery plant/s. I took the pic yesterday so it’s a weeks growth. Isn’t it scooting along! Be better if it was something I had a lack of.Yesterday’s acquisitions. I’m not sure exactly where they’re going, but you’re better looking at it than for it, as daddy used to say.I hope your “lie down in peace” went ok yesterday 2p, and it didn’t show any unnecessaries or extra bits.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4

Mrs Dusty likes parts of the 'output' I disapprove of and won't give them up either.I think what we're both exercising is called 'tolerance.'
The Brand/Campbell chat is worth watching, because it examines the last few years without being too extreme and poses some legitimate questions. With contradictory statements emanating from a certain elderly world leader and his regulatory authority this week, suggesting a degree of madness in the air again, recalling the recent past might be useful. "Those who reject history are doomed to repeat it." etc,As for the small persons, they're on their way home today, having worn the adults out on this week of 'refreshing' holiday time. At least they won't be stuck in an airport suffering from another long distance travel 'coincidence.'That Bergenia is not supposed to be very tough, but it survives here, even in the frost pocket by the stream, and it seems snail proof too. Perhaps it's the hairiness.Your new Pennisetum is a winner. The one I gave walking friend has been a picture this summer, and its progeny are currently winging their way to a far off land, probably illegally, where a gravel garden a la Beth Chatto is planned to counteract the effects of drought.
Still think your mystery plant looks Forget-me-nottish.All fingers and toes crossed for 2p's lie down too.Sunshine and calm here this morning, but still with a cool north-wester. Ideal jackhammer weather!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity4 -
Whilst mooching yesterday afternoon, the last two figs were picked & scoffed still warm in the sun, these are a different variety from the previous, much sweeter but not as brown. I have one coming on, turning colour and should make it if the forecast is right about sunny & warm with high pressure come the weekendHope MRI went well 2P, only one I had was a hat thing looking for any brain left, so no lie down for me.I'm mixed on Mr Brand, gems in there somewhere but like K Hopkins, small doses only, but I still watchThe green waste wheelie was not emptied, message for council, bin lorry has broken down & hope to empty bin today. OK, at least I'm not on the Gulf Coast of Florida where my wheelie bin would soon be whisked away todayNo gardening anticipated today, just back from town & refuelling where I just caught myself in time, putting unleaded into my diesel
. Gulp
, just a couple of litres went in before I woke up, filled to the top with diesel now, so I think and hope the dilution will get me off the expensive hook. Drove home OK and fingers crossed
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens4 -
Good thing you woke in time Farway. Did you drive home over lots of bumpy roads, get it all mixed up? Actually I’ve said that in jest but it might not be a bad idea eh! Fresh sun warmed figs sound heavenly, I’m not jealous at all. I’m really not
Your council is better than mine, if they forget ours we get told to just put it out again next week
Pieces next and I’ll look for Brand and Dr Campbell. My mystery plant is deffo forget-me-not, I’ve spent all morning pulling up the swines. Jeez but they’re persistent. I’d be happy if my Lamb’s Ears would be so vigorous. I’m gonna pull it out now I think, it’s only taking up goodness that the actual mystery needs.I saw a robins this morning, made me realise I’d not them in a long while. Then I realised my blackies have gone
Edit - the pennisetums are from Lidl. They had 2 sizes, for £4.99 and £6.99 so mines are the bigger ones. It’s harder to kill big stuff I think.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.4 -
Farway will be OK if only a few litres. Did the same myself with the van; just cleaned all the sooty bits out nicely.SiL's camper is in London being fixed on a big job at mate's rates. I hear Saddo Sadiq had a few problems with his Go-Pros yesterday, so he may have dodged the charges. That's enough fig talk, or I'll take a picture of my plums......Foliage yesterday, and more today, again from MiL's garden: Hydrangea quercifolia....which I've recently rooted in my cold frame and potted up.
They aren't cheap!
