Lurgy is.. on the move. My neck is stiff and my jaw aches, and my ears are crackly. The cough is horrendous! I'm in poor form altogether.

Don't be catching it folks, it's vile :(

Too late. I had the original varient, that was scarey and definitely to be missed, and this latest one so I know what you're going through. My nose has only just started to unclog from back around Christmas.
But you;re younger and fitter. I found it went suddenly but it did seem like forever.
Hope it gets gone soon :)

Thanks 2p. It is on the move, creeping up and filling my head. It's the cough that's the most disgusting and tiring part. I want it gone asap!

It was a beautiful dawn here, a gentle peachy colour. Bit of uproar in the garden though - I think there's an interloping Mr Blacky. Mrs Blacky is trying to get rid of him, she's proper unhappy.

I won't discuss medical stuff, but the 4 people in this household didn't listen much to the one who never blinked, the one with  the biomedical shares, the rascal who had an over-affectionate relationship with his secretary, or the one with at least 7 kids who blogged about overpopulation. This made us idiots, of course, but our track record for dodging lurgy over the past few years beats that of our close family by a country mile. Statistically insignificant, and probably luck or a coincidence, so you can safely (and effectively) ignore what I've just said.  ;)
It appears to be raining again. I spoke too soon yesterday, so by the time we set out to take a ferret to the vet, it was hammering down with bursts of hail and blowing a hooley. Things did improve after lunch, though, so I potted-on some tomatoes and 2 courgettes from Lidl seed that was so cheap it matters not if we lose them to late frosts. Even dead, they might taste better than some foul things from sunnier climes I've bought this winter!  :D
Even if we're relatively healthy, the death toll among the pots, and even in the garden itself, has been huge. I'd guess it was the soft start to winter, followed by wet, and then a sudden plunge to -5c. Many of our salvias have succumbed, so I was cheered to think of the ones in GF's garden for cuttings, only to hear that was back under water this week! :s However, a specimen of 'Amistad' placed  unceremoniously at the back of a wood shed was showing a couple of leaves when I exhumed it! :)

Did someone mention dandelions? Not welcome in the lawns garden grass, but thousands in the fields:

You still sound good on here, though! o:) Being older, we take things that help us fight bugs off, especially in the winter, but mentioning them isn't allowed. I used to think it was a load of old hooey, but one bout of fluey stuff in 4 years is better than we used to manage when younger. And my knees certainly tell me if I forget the pill I take for them!
Hope you're out of the woods with it soon. :)

Raining again this morning, very dreary and grey
Nice pic of dandelions Dusty, I was thinking about going out soon and getting a pic of similar, but en masse, not today though, and nice to hear the knee pills are working for you

Anyone fancy a punt on a patio bargain fruit tree offer, until midnight tonight?
Just had mail from T & M, apple and pear, bare root £12 the pair, plus P & P. The rootstocks are not real "dwarfing" but a bit of pruning and training will keep them in hand
I bought similar, different varieties, last year, and of course it was mucked up when two apples arrived, but they sent me the pear when I complained, so I finished up with two apples & one pear for £12. I gave the spare apple away to DD
The pear I have trained as espalier and is now covered in blossom, the apple blossom not yet opened but still alive
"Hurry, offer ends midnight, 15th April 2023 or while stocks last. Limited to 1 per order. Normal delivery charges apply. Use order code TM_TN4023W."

In other news, the last weekend sowing of sweet red plum cherry tom seed saved from Asda one has germinated and moved to the window sill, just one which will do me. I've just realised I have traffic light tomatoes now, orange, yellow, red & the green ones of course

Hope all lurgies go soon and maybe even the sun comes back

If you look at the current price of tomatoes in the supermarkets at the mo they go up to £2,60!!!
Blue, roadside stall, you're quids in  :D
    Think I'll plant some more.

The tom plants I bought from Otter had blemised leaves like blight but I took a punt in the hope it was just the cold. Our local nursery the same.
Not looking any better so I think they're for the skip and I'll plant more. Found a packet of golden ones  in the garage so as soon as it stops raining and freezing I'll do that.

Still single figures, very cold, wet and dark :| they promise sun for the next 3 days but who knows.

Aww Dusty   When himself came in from work last night and asked my how my day had been, he confidently announced that Jack Duckworth is alive and well. So that was nice.

Ooh traffic light toms - pay a fortune for them in Aldi, and a King's Ransom in Marks!

As tempted as I am by more fruit trees (and I really am) I'm gonna be a good girl and refrain. Himself thinks there's too much stuff out there and when it all grows it'll be "a tatty riot", so I don't think 2 more trees will improve my lot :( (When he said it, a little voice in my head went - ooh a tatty riot would do me rightly! :D

Clouding over here now, the rain is imminent. They say. I need to nip out for more paracetamol and something for the dinner.

I only kill the docks, ragwort, and thistles in the fields. The dandelions are so important for early bees and other insects. I'm wondering where the thistles are hiding this year, because I've not seen any yet. Suddenly, they'll be there, though! :|
Knees don't like winter cold, but when that's bad, I have an extra buddy to help me out. He's called Long John! ;)
Had to go north-east today and saw the dreaded red lines all along the M5 around Taunton, so it was detour time. :( Tried to get Sat Nag to help out, but she was contradicting OH and they started arguing! Long story short, Sat Nag was unplugged and we followed our noses. Even with grey skies, I usually sense which direction I'm facing, and it soon became obvious the 'experts'  have had a go at Taunton. The number of direction changes we went through was mind-bending. Somehow, we escaped, but never mind all that ULEZ stuff, it's a great way to dissuade people from entering. I'm never going back! :|
Returning, the sun came out for a while, and it looked like the red lines were probably still on the M5 northbound carriageway. Nothing unusual; just Cornwall and Devon regurgitating the emmets and grockles! :D
