I think it's a lovely photo. :) I will pass on cooking Ink Caps. We have Giant Puffballs here the size of footballs and some people rave about those too, but my overall thought when I tasted one was, "Meh!"
Tooth was a lot better after lunch. Dentist said if I go in as an emergency she will whip it out, but if I can hang on 10 days she may be able to save it. :#
    I'm waiting!

Good luck with the tooth Dave. I was due my check up on 25th March, feel I should go as I've a couple of chips but I'm still putting it off

I occasionally see a puffball but leave well alone these days. I used to bother but not now as there's only me who eats it.  There's a perfect fairy ring on the lawn. I must work out how to upload photos to here

The birds are returning to the feeders this week. They've been largely ignored throughout the summer/autumn. I have a squirrel proof one which seems to stop squirrels but the jackdaws have learnt to use the extra bars as support to get in and crush the fat balls which they can fly away with in chunks. I enclosed it in two 14" hanging baskets but they still work it out, intelligent birds!
Love living in a village in the country side

On xmas day in the Bernese Oberland there would be a procession where people wearing a cow bell or carrying drums would walk through the streets to scare the evil spirits. Many wearing masks.
That sort of thing happens here in Somerset everyday but usually under cover of darkness with much chanting and nudity (alledgedly) 😹
    Haha, yes indeed

Well, it does, with the traditional Somerset wassailing and the firing of guns to keep the evil spirits out of the cider orchards etc
...or there's Bridgwater Carnival; quite a lot of noise and semi-nudity there. :o

Morning C, yes he has no class lol 😸
Just my opinion, no offence 🐈
  • D and imw... what do puffballs taste like? Can they be compared to any other mushroom? Sounds like they might be an acquired taste.

Birds also returning in more numbers to my feeders but more of a pesky squirrel problem rather than jackdaws 😔

Battening down the hatches... rain and wind forecast for all of us today, be safe

Puffballs are quite rich and yet they don't have an overpowering taste. Being so large, they tend to sit around for a while in the fridge and I don't like their smell once they ripen fully. I think we just had too much of them early on, rather like my early experiences buying quarts of scrumpy as a 14 year old at the back of the pub!  Can't look at that! :#
New feeder arrived for her outdoors this morning, so I predict she'll be indoors with the binoculars more from now on. I'm off  in the murk to refill the larder....I get all the fun! :|
Found a photo of an early puffball.....

    That's a big one Dave  :D
Tried puff balls once, OK I suppose to try them and should I find one I'd probably eat it. I was wary of creepy crawlies hiding inside

Above the "comment" box where you type is a small oblong with what looks like mountains in it, "Attach image", the arrow at the side of box has a "Browse" function, just use it to find the image on your computer, or where you have placed it on the internet
Best to resize your image before upload to something under 1000 pixels, [I use 500 px] thinking of the folks on their phones

Dull with rain very much later, my walk suffered from a Senior Moment, thought today was my blood test, nope, that's tomorrow.
Spotted wrong day just as finally getting ready so left with spare time and CBA now
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens
