Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Good Afternoon
The last few days have been beautiful and we have made a start on tidying the wild part of the garden. We noticed our lovely neighbour next door has covered the area he grows veg with horse manure. My husband decided that he would do the same
Fortunately over the road is a farmer who also grazes horses and he says to 'take what manure you want' - so we did - anything for ''free''
.

Morning 🖐
6 weeks now ...... it's getting closer 🎅🎅🎁🎄🎄
Talking of roses ..... do any of you have Liliana ?
Someone i know has one and its fragrance is gorgeous - it's definitely one i'm going to track down soon.
I have 2 Gertrude Jeykll and her fragrance is lovely too - totally different to Liliana - but equally as strong.
Got to say bye bye, off to work in a bit and still got a black cat to feed and a few bits to prepare for my day, happy gardening folks 🖐2 -
Morning 🖐
6 weeks now ...... it's getting closer 🎅🎅🎁🎄🎄Humbug! I could never 'get' Christmas, even as a teenager, and as a young married man, it was a sort of hell to be endured, with the inevitable trip to the Outlaws' vastly overheated house to feel totally stifled and very uncomfortable following the huge meal with boiled to death sprouts and heavily charred parsnip etc. They would look at me with horror if I suggested a nice walk on the common between the overindulgent first and second courses, so I'd go it alone with the dog.....Sorry, don't want to put a downer on your upbeat post, so I'll leave you with the best quote I saw on the events in the US last week:"Who would have thought that two men, well into their 70s, could maintain an election for so long!"

Dull & damp, rained overnight by the looks of it, at least that's rose "Peace" planted yesterday watered in for meD, your visits to outlaw's Christmas does sound a bit like mine, Into the Anglia, across to M5 at Gloucester with fingers crossed at Birdlip
& ooop North, but I never was a "let's go for a walk" type
I never "got" the continuous TV, on early and never went offMind you, wouldn't mind the opportunity to do it this ChristmasNo gardening planned today, I do need to clear the climbing beans away before the winter gets going & rotting the canes even moreEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens3 -

Even when we arrived one evening to announce our engagement, we had to wait till Dallas was over!At home, when I was about 16 or 17, I invented a 'tradition' for Boxing Day fishing, which was soon accepted without question, even in the year when I sat beside the River Brue in the snow.

Good Morning, it is very mild and very damp here. Not very inspiring at all. This will be my second xmas in the UK. My first one sounds very similar to Dave's past experience
. We had too much tv, too much food, too much heat. It was so different from how I would normally spend this time. On xmas day in the Bernese Oberland there would be a procession where people wearing a cow bell or carrying drums would walk through the streets to scare the evil spirits. Many wearing masks. Anyway, lots of fresh air. Also, our main meal would be on Xmas Eve.
We have a young child and so xmas will start on 6 Dec when 'Samichlaus' will visit with presents. Then Father Xmas will call on xmas eve of course. I am keen to keep two cultures alive.

We grew up with a strict Xmas day routine. Weren't allowed downstairs until parents were awake/ready, followed by having to wait for everyone to be there for pressie opening, then TV could go on - usually BBC Morecambe & Wise or similar, overindulgence on dinner, sitting there afterwards feeling pregnant, Queens speech, pudding with argument about how much cream you could have, no one mentioned walks etc for fear of lynching, movie of the afternoon (usually a re-re-re-repeat), followed by a visit to the fridge to pick some meat off the turkey, granny getting tipsy on sherry, siblings arguing about just about everything, grandad passing wind (thinks descretly but everyone can hear ofc), hearing the cracker jokes for the umpteenth time from dad, mum then getting tipsy on baileys, finished off with a massive argument around 6pm when everyones masks come down and true feelings are shared.
Glad I'm an adult now 😁Just my opinion, no offence 🐈3 -
