At last the gloom lifted yesterday PM and I managed to get outthe front & clear the tubs up by removing all teh dead stuff.
Now I can see the daff shoots and all being well I'll get the polyanthus in later this week

Lovely to have you back Farway.
Yesterday morning the sun came out but before i could get out there it was dark, cold and windy.
I have plants to get in, move while I can remember where they should go but it's dark and damp at the mo.
If it dries up I'll garden, if it's worse I'll post some pics instead.

Spent the day in the garden then had to rest out the pain! Sheesh......
But, dug area for small pond, leveled up my secret reading place ready for gravel, shifted and planted plants and cleared up the turf mound etc etc.
Hope I haven't killed anything in the process.
Stuff is packed in like you wouldn't believe. Trickier than Garden Rescue where they put everything in at the same time and it's to size because I had (with covid time) to put in some, then some more, then some more so roots got in the way.
It's nothing like I planned due to finding the drains and then the complete disruption of the last 2yrs but it is a garden where there was nothing so that's ok.
So here are som pics of the progress - this is where it started
and to this Yes, summer but that's nicer!

The fruit and veg patch went in first..
It's still a bit of a fringe and I'd like to get some trees in the lawn, probably fruit as you may as well get some reward and I do like russets which you don't get in the shops. On the other hand it is easy care as is should we ever get our exciting lives back again.

So only the front to finish now - and the tiny practise pond - and the badger run - and the tree pruning - and do something about the colour of the fence - and get the cat deterrant up on the fence.
They walk carefully along the top and jump down into the garden for birds and toilet.

That's looking like a job well done 2P, ,not that relax & gardening combine, if anything like me, sit down woth a cuppa & then spot a weed etc for next job.

Agree entirely about trees having to earn their keep with blossom and fruit, unless you have sprawling acres. Not keen on russets myself but growing what is hard to come by is the way to go of course

Yesterday I managed to get my primulas planted into final positions into troughs at the front, another month and should be a riot of colour, ho ho. There are some in flower already, picture to follow

Next cunning plan is move one of my potted figs into the conservatory, last year I never had one fig with the roten weather, so will leave a few tomatoes out & have a fig there instead, if my back, hernia & lack of puff allow, if not it's a job for DS if can entice him round

Hiiiii! I've been absent for quite a number of years due to having babies! But i'm baaack. I've started planning my veggie patch. Only I don't have an area to dig in any more as last year I landscaped it by covering dirt in card then bark on top. Now I am growing most stuff in pots. Feels weird to be planning whats going in what pot rather than in the ground! I also have the added complication of now we have chickens! So that will be fun ...!

Ah but I get those without the benefits of eggs or compost.
My friends chickens used to use the cat flap into the kitchen.
Could be a surprise when you weren't expecting it.

I had a 50 mile round trip to get a meter of pond liner. I was so proud that I didn't add any plants.
However i thought I'd take a quick look at a nursery on the way home and came out with another huge Helebore in cream and pink that the bees were visiting. A new pink and mauve scented perrinal wallflower and another Heuchera in deep red.

This is to encourage me to get on with the front garden. Thats my excuse.

    Cold wind, cloud and drizzle.

But on the plus side lots of snowdrops on the roadside and real yellow catkins. It looks like spring is early  :D

Spot of rain first thing, ideal to get the primulas watered in, sun's out now

I forgot to add about your pond 2P, snap, sort of.

My granddaughter, the one doing the horticultural course, has just made a pond, she doing the designing, her dad doing the digging. She learnt that trick quickly. Very wild life style.

Thinking how time flies, there used to be a pond where the new one is but it got filled in when she was born because it was deemed a drowning hazard at the time, Karma or something anyway, nature back into balance now
