A really wet night, with even worse due so they say, all coming from Dave's direction so good luck with that after the mucking around yesterday Dave

Nice cow pic GF, that cow seems to have her eye on you, they release Highland cattle into a small nature reserve near me, which I used to walk through in my more stable &less wobbly years, although they are supposed to be docile I was never sure, and they did make a right muddy mess, which I think is the intention in Nature reserves,

I sampled another of my Pinova apples yesterday, this one was more ripe and it was excellent flavour :) , I take back or my moaning last year, seems it was a good choice of apple variety  after all, just needed a sunnier spot. Next year I'll thin out the apples to try & increase the fruit size, never bothered this year thinking I'd be disappointed with the flavour again and it was destined for the bin

Dave, I found this list about E5, not checked it but may save a journey?

Yesterday was the pits, rounded off by the farcical antics in the Commons when the Coronavirus Act was nodded through in about 90 seconds by a pitiful collection of MPs acting like schoolkids. This legislation, over 300 pages of it, was originally pushed through there in a day back in 2020 and it's enabled all the attacks on our rights, like repeated lockdowns which don't work and destroy people's livelihoods. Even the  WHO don't recommend them as more than a temporary measure.
So, for the next 6 months we can look forward to more emergency measures, lockdowns etc, but as I'll be taking my behavioural lead from Boris, or maybe Prof Ferguson, like I did before, no worries there. ;)
It amazes me that people still believe this is all about a virus not unlike flu. Those who know just how screwed the fiat monetary system is have expected some sort of replacement for a while and the crashing of the world economy seems to be where this is leading. Out of the wreckage will come a brilliant new digital currency like Rishy announced the other day; it's just not quite ready yet. Once we have that, all will be well, because the government will operate it via phones and that nasty cash stuff will soon disappear. It'll be really good and you needn't worry about transactions not going through, spending limits on certain classes of product or punitive deductions being made, provided you simply behave well...Utopia awaits, but I'm not sure where the barter system fits in. Perhaps Pete the farmer will send me a digital sheep.
Sorry for the rant. It's merely a different perspective and obviously speculative, but then we all speculate to accumulate, hence me trying to turn an old pension into something concrete and my other rant about the adviser. Indeed, concrete in the form of paving slabs and other building materials looks set to keep its value and be of greater utility in the longer term!
But for the moment it's sheep; real ones, arriving today and set to keep us company for a few months. Apparently they're 'older ones' so full of bad habits, just like me. :|
Thanks for the heads up on the fuel Farway. Some companies are better than others at giving relevant info. I have worked out it's either Crediton, Torrington or another place I've no reason to pass through where the elixir of life for the mowers may still be purchased 'nearby,' but I'll just have to put fuel on my big 10 day shopping list in future.

I've not done much in the garden for a while; we seem to have been so busy. Got next week off work and hoping for some decent weather to get jobs done.

The tomatoes finished fruiting, I moved them out of the greenhouse to give the peppers more space, and the tomatoes have only started flowering again! I shall remove them before the last green bin collection of the year, though it appears that might be December. The peppers are taking forever to ripen, but we've had two red ones so far, and some of my roses are flowering for a third time this year.

The peach lost most of it's leaves but has hung on to a few, and the nectarine hasn't shed any yet. I'm not sure whether to winter those in the conservatory or the plastic greenhouse; I'm a little worried about the greenhouse's ability to survive the winter, though it seems reasonably tough. I could leave them outside and fleeced, but I lost a nectarine tree last year (and had a job replacing it) so I'm wary.

Husband used the wrong weedkiller on the lawn a few weeks ago, and despite giving it a feed and seed, it's looking worse rather than better. I'm going to suggest he mows it next week then we'll leave it until spring and see whether it shows any signs of recovery. For all that he was so keen to re-do the lawn we inherited when we bought the house, he's not religious about taking care of it, and it's big enough that it needs TLC to look good.

I'm on the waiting list for local allotments now; 2nd in the queue, apparently. I have no idea how long it'll take to get one but shall be patient. It is making me rethink what I might do in our garden next year; probably won't invest in anything expensive for grow your own and that means I probably won't get that greenhouse I've been after. In theory, if it's allowed on the allotment, I can pick up a free one on FB - there are loads, but they're all far too big for our garden or I would've snapped one up by now.

Oh, I'm almost certain he's been cancelled, so that would be Wrongthink. :o MSE have done half a job already, but I got through to the 1960s somehow. B) .

No change there then! :p There's a short animated film featuring the smiling guy. I won't put up a link as it's off topic and rather depressing. He's going to regret his 5 nanoseconds of fame!
We actually had sunshine for a decent time today, 20 sheep arrived and I managed half a big bonfire before the wind went around. :) While searching for info on how to level-up the wood burner correctly I didn't find anything helpful, but I learned we owners of the pre 2019 models enjoy an efficiency 5% higher than that of the later ones, which have obviously been 'improved.'

Really glad to see you here again, Ted. :) I was getting worried. My 80 something year-old cousin gave me the low-down on this year's grand Highland weather about a month ago when he visited. He's given up growing tatties, but still has a woman friend visit, so his priorities are sound! He abdicated from the rat race down south about 35 years ago and never looked back.
