Dull, mild & a bit windyApart from that my Windows 10 computer has gone into a coma and refuses to do anything except blink, I'm on my old W7 PC which runs like treacleShould be an "interesting" weekendEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens3

The neighbour has been superseded and the hedge is supporting the fence, now, but it no longer needs to be so tall. The newer neighbour is sane.My brand new Windows 10 computer is sitting silently beside me here. I bought it blank when the Windows 7 one under the desk had its 8th birthday, stuck a £3.50 operating system on it (thanks Bill!
) logged-on, thought, "Well, that's all ready to go now." That was about 2 years ago!
I guess I will learn to love Windows 10 eventually, but just in case, I've cloned my Windows 7 computer to an external hard drive.3 -
It's been glorious and sunny here but with cold mornings and nights which is why I've been AWOL. I've been on the moors photographing deer and listening to them pre rut.I have still managed a few hours in the garden. It's finally taking a shape I can be pleased with, turf has been taken out, plants moved and looking good on one side. The other is a bit of a mystery as I try to balance it. Hopefully this weekend.Morrisons plants are a disaster. The Chrysanths I bought still look sick and will have to come out. The garden bit at the store has been closed for weeks and the shelves, usually a delight to browse are just dying or dead plants. The whole lot. The people who worked with the plants are not to be seen. No idea what's going on.Have tried to have a look at the garden centre but it's constantly packed with cars. So far very little to buy for winter pots.Cloudy today, predicted the same for the weekend so it's chores all round.

Happens around now.Yes, I don't know what happened to Morrisons' plants this year. They seemed to start well and then there was a long dry spell and they never really recovered in the stores I visit.A picture's needed I think, so how about the Spindle Tree I snapped about a week ago in our mini-wood?It's a bit further advanced now and not even a named variety; I grew a few from seed.6

Sun's out and sky is blue, after my fiddling around shuffling cards around in RAM slots the computer W10 flickered into life then collapsed back into it's coma, I'm sure anyone who knew what they were doing could fix it in the blink of an eye, but that someone is not me, so still on the W7 machine, which updated itselfb ut still treacly, I think it's stuffed full of carp but I CBA to sort itNothing done in the garden, even though today in the sun would be idealEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens3

Had an offer from Mr Fothergills this morning, offer quid a packet seeds until midnight, tried to add some but failed at checkout, some error, oh well it was impulse buying anyway, some sempervivums and ornamental gourdsAnother dull morning, but I have a ripe yellow tomato at last but they have been very poor this year, this is the only yellow cherry to ripen. It's only a cherry sized one, the photo is deceptiveEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens7

According to the BBC this is the last dry day for a while. Although I don't believe anything on the BBC any more, fact-checking with the Met Office suggests this might be right, but I'll still need to water pots today.Yesterday I took some time out to give my muscles a rest, rather than continue with reducing hedges. I picked up a couple of Elephant Garlic cloves for pennies at the local market and sowed them straight away. There was an email a week or so ago offering me some for about £7 +P&P, so I'm glad I waited.
The normal ones are already in.
We seem to be somewhat depleted on this thread at present and the disappearance some long standing MSE friends is worrying. I'm planning to stick around, so if I go AWOL it's serious....unless of course I have PPR by my name! The Greenfinches are back:.....and one of the the usual suspects has photobombed them.8 -
Good photo Dave. I can't really feed the birds here; it just attracts the squirrels and I try to keep them away.
Farway; hope you find someone who can help sort it out.
I've had issues with both my broadband and my phone; the latter died completely, hardware failure.
Won't go into the saga but it took 3 days to get a new phone and get it working, which was needed so I could get the broadband sorted out.
Which meant I missed a couple of gorgeous days outside.
The bee situation has been mad; they'd all got loads of stores when we took the honey off but with the very warm weather they are not clustering and there's not enough nectar out there ATM. Although quite a few have found my hardy fuchsia.
So we're feeding madly. One lot took down 8 kg in 24 hours although they've now calmed down. The crew about which we were most worried barely touched the feed the first day, but seem to have got the hang of it. They took down 2 kg overnight, so hope they keep that up. We need them to store 10 kg for winter. And hopefully by tomorrow I'll be able to give up on the morning feed and just top-up once a day.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing7 -
I think I overdid the outdoor experience because of the wonderful weather.
Sunny and warm but the ground still moist.
I did a lot of looking about shaping beds and relocating plants but still not sure. Where I've got to is beginning to look really good but not there yet.
All very well these tv programs measuring but I've done that and visually it's out so back to the turfing.
Starting from zero isn't as exciting as it might seem.
But allowing its a lockdown covid all rules for plant purchase are gone garden not doing too bad.
The seeds from my second-hand Persian carpet wallflowers have germinated like mad. Not sure what to do with so many seedlings and cold weather coming.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Just popping my head round the door to say I'm currently being an abject failure at mouse murdering which is taking up all my spare time at the moment. I've missed an awful lot of the lovely golden days recently moving furniture etc. and the blasted thing has just put in yet another appearance in my sitting room. I do think it ought to have the courtesy to be frightened of me instead of giving the impression of sauntering out for a stroll without a care in the world. Surely any sensible mouse would be frightened of a giant that shouts at it?"She could squeeze a nickel until the buffalo pooped."
