Another early start, my tickly lurgy throat keeping me awake, as well as the heat. poor old soul! 🤕

Just seen weather forecast, no let up here, hot & less hot at times, with maybe a teaspoon of rain tomorrow, then back to baking.

2P The plums have ripened but are small and rock hard and I have ready dried raspberries. That's a shame, I can sympathise, my only plum is a bent purple pebble, raspberries are malingering and still green. Thank heavens for blackberries.

This heat has played havoc with my fig,. Only have one decent sized one, un ripe. But there are loads of new ones, cherry sized, which if this weather keeps going may ripen, but I doubt it, never get two crops in UK, not enough sunshine hours later in the year

With my early morning I have fed & watered the apple & Lezzbeans, still no beanz.

Dusty don’t envy you the mucky job. Some of my family is off to Devon today ,just as our weather has cooled considerably. We are due to get between 10 to 30% today, probably when we go to the city to the theatre 🎭. It’s 17 degrees all day which feels much colder after the heat especially in the wind.

That's probably why I've taken 17 years to get around to it! 😉 Our kerb appeal is zero, and I don't envisage being here when I'm in my middle 80s, so……But there's also the gardening element of having somewhere to develop a shady garden, and proper paths through it.

If your foxglove seeds have germinated, they must've had more watering than mine. The stream bed and surrounds are dry as a bone.😕 I'm dubious about them growing, due to the shade down there. What with Mr New thinking he owns the trees, and Mr Canute blocking the stream, I'm inclined to let that area take its chances, rather than waste energy on it. Mr Canute hasn't sold his place, nor will he at the price he wants, so with our new hedge and trees blotting him out within 2 years or so, it's time to focus on the sunny slope there instead. We'll fill it with buddleia, teasel, and valerian, creating an even better butterfly haven. "When life gives you lemons….etc"

Good to see your dahlia came true. Mine are still sulking.

We might see a drop or two of H20 soon, 2p, the best of it around dawn tomorrow, but we might not. 😏 Meanwhile, at least there is some protective cloud today.

Here's something that does well on neglect: Saponaria. It'll take over your whole garden if you want! 😃

That's an impressive Garrya, wort. It's on our list of "Those we have loved" and probably still doing very well in the last garden. Someone I met at our teachers' reunion last week said they were often in our old garden for social events. Tactfully, I refrained from asking what going to a machete party is like. 🤧

If your family members are on the way here, wort, the weather today is pleasantly warm rather than hot, but the A30 is burgered near Pathfinder Village. That seems apt, as folks struggle to find alternative routes. We got lost near there a couple of days ago, and drove 10 miles extra, so good luck to them!

Oh, and Mrs Dusty was nicked for doing 35 in a 30 zone last week just outside Taunton.😭 We wouldn't even have been there if two other routes hadn't been closed on us. And it would've been me, but having clocked up 150 miles, it was my turn for a snooze. We changed over about 10 minutes before. 😌

Was blue skies this morning and clouded over this afternoon with a cool breeze which was a joy. So Dusty's cloud did make it here eventually.

It's grey but doesn't look like it will part with it's contents any time soon. Still a nights sleep at last to invigorate me for the ever lasting watering tomorrow.

Hacking back crispy rose branches was on the agenda but I met a friend for coffee which turned into lunch and the rest is history 😄

Morning all, another coughing & warm night, I'm reet fed up now 😡

Cloudy, and it even had some moisture in the air, very fine rain, but about as much use as steam from your tea, it's clearing away now & returning to scorchio, so I'll be joining 2P in the everlasting watering next week

At least I can console myself that DS & family will have nice weather in Dustyland [Newquay]. Just checked the web cams, it's currently as cloudy there as it is here.

No gardening planned, having a day off from watering unless I spot a droopy one. With the sleepless night it could be a doze in front of tele while this week's GW is on

Missed the bee masterpiece, but here's less mobile Hibiscus in the moist air this morning. I'm sure they are late flowering this year, but not checked. Unnamed one grown from seed that caught in clothing as i brushed by

Yes, most things are! 😂 It's ironic, because she obeys the speed limits, but the setting sun was in her face and she missed the sign, coming off the dual carriageway. She's never had points on her licence, and she'll probably get a speed awareness course. It'll be like making a SRN attend lessons in CPR, and it's likely to cost lots in petrol and time, given where we live. 🙄

Yesterday was new GC's Hindu naming ceremony at DD's place not far away. This is like a christening, but carried out by family members….usually 'aunties.' She slept the whole time.☺️ The weather changed, becoming quite windy and overcast, but it didn't hinder the barbecue, or discourage some children from enjoying a large paddling pool.

Today's photo is a small, bi-coloured Crocosmia that used to be harder to keep, but our warmer winters suit it well.

The overnight rain is blowing away now. As Paul Daniels might have said, "Not a lot."🙁
