Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Oh nice! I like the plant and the bird pictures.
I now have apricot tree envy 😏
Seen on a walk and the people there weren't that interested in the fruit but didn't offer it. There were loads there.
Interestingly it's in the same road where someone grew productive vines along the front. Must be sunny and sheltered.
Get back to you MW. I'm off out frmy first swim 😃
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Oh dear, I definitely didn’t see the YBE post at weekend, I think when I miss a few days due to work . The link seems to miss some posts.
Dusty you are tormenting me now with the thalictrum, at least the nursery gave me a refund for my dead one. Not much done here apart from deadheading.
The weather still hot and breezy no clouds insight, off for a walk with friends so will go to the plantations so it will be mostly shady. Once the washing is out.

Wind has dropped a bit, more hot sun for rest of the week so no respite from watering
Update on next door's sheet, it's been removed from the pyracantha 😀, never saw it go, but back to normal now
Looks an interesting plant Mrs Dusty bought, but reading on it's not one for my garden, no where suitable
I was watching Anna with the accent yesterday, and she also has Lezbeans, only a couple of runner bean pods to be seen, at least I'm not alone. My beans have tilted a bit with the wind, not too bad and I'm hoping to get them perpendicular once the wind / breeze eases
Spotted the garden bin men this morning, no wonder they miss my bin, they just look at the roadside, my bin is up a path. I gave them a shout before they drove off this time and it's emptied.
No gardening, too hot, may need to water but so far looks OK
Just refreshed, great recovery 2P, enjoy your swim. Fancy having an apricot tree and not eating them, but folk are funny like that, including my DS who'd rather buy apples than pick the ones from his garden 😡
This is growing on the waste bit near my garage, along with the chicory & poppy. I think i's a cornflower but happy to be corrected

Dusty Late, and we have visitors….😮 so here are some slightly better pictures of those mystery birds Less thinks are female Blackcaps. I’m inclined to agree now!
I think someone else (Greenbee?) suggested Blackcaps, and I just agreed… Not sure on the putative Cornflour either, though it looks like that kind of thing….
Hot and sunny again, after mysterious unforecast cloudcover to start; yesterday's brisk breeze had dropped today which was both a good (less drying of already shrivelled garden, not that that was noticeable…😕) and bad (less cooling effect) thing…
Missed YBEs post too, guessing she was very nawty… Will be looking out for her return under an assumed name…😁

What a pita about the non petrolified car..should ask for a discount :) Hope the drive out for high tea was nice 2p.and woop for a swim out! Huzzah for one carrot farway, I have none, zip zero, zilch…Mind you I didn't water the seeds from when it started being scorchio so that's my fault.
Yeah, I'm afraid I was one of the but something instead of eating your own for some reason, no idea why either..not the case now..Hang on, it was potatoes with me but to be fair, they were really hard even when cooked they seemed dry, again, lack of watering last year, plus holes, slug damage and wire worm or something so absolve myself. I have had some of thisyears ina salad, nice too.
We had cloud cover all morning so of course when I went to the lotment it was sunny, good breeze though so didn't feel too hot. Weeeding, cutting down spent teasel [ no thank you to loads of it next year,] tried to prune the water shoots off the apple tree, no idea what I'm doing and I couldn't reach all the higher ones, mowed, strimmed, weeded, watered some stuff, covered the bottom waterbutt completely so mosquitoes will die!die!die! {I've been bittem too mcu now, and it's the only barrel I forgot to put copper pipe in] then I was pooped.
Not planning much tomorrow. Did see some mahoosive bumbles though on the cardoon. no photos, excpet from one sleeping in a sunflower yesterday

I got one. A minor, non-dangerous fault, which would cost £500 to rectify, was somehow missed.
😁 Are you sure your bee is 'sleeping?' Perhaps we should ask the opinion of the Devon & Cornwall police? 😉
Less: Missed YBEs post too, guessing she was very nawty
I don't think it was anything posted on this thread. Nothing even mildly nawty to see here! 🤣
We are certainly seeing a "dry, shrivelled garden" here. Trees are dropping leaves, big time. We water near the house, and the veggies/poly, but most has been left to nature's not too tender care. There is talk of thunderstorms, but the general forecast is still scorchio for another week. 😢
Looking for an optimistic photo, I came up with this:
Could this be the year? 🤔
Never believe anything until it's officially denied.

wowsers Dusty, looking good for a ‘grape’ harvest there.
Farway I like the white cornflower, maybe a seed mixed in with some others you’ve ordered .
Looks like this one?
My bedroom was cool last night, and was looking forward to a good nights sleep, but barking dogs, low flying aircraft and his majesty meowing to come in for breakfast extra early on my day off put paid to that.
I have appointments in town today starting with blood tests , that I was told I didn’t have an appointment for last time I went☹️ so hoping all good today. Yesterdays walk was lovely in the shade of the trees 🌲 in the plantations.
Sunny with nice cool breeze today so far.

Another one here with an early breakfast, no dogs, just heat. Up to Morries first thing, no plants, still too early & they were locked away, boring bread, salad bits and forgot the milk, bu66er 😠
Had to water some pots at the front, drying wind & baking. At least they are in the shade right now for watering. Today is breezy & hot again, no rain due, Dusty has hogged it
The two Golden ball courgettes that I
interfered withintroduced to the boys, are now preggers. It is these I have to keep watering.Wort Farway I like the white cornflower, maybe a seed mixed in with some others you’ve ordered .
Looks like this one?
Spot on I'd say, and being on rough old manky ground I bet you are right, wild flowers without trying. I never sowed any, so must be a blow in, along with the poppy & chicory. There's also a cosmos there, not yet flowered. Once again, not sown by me. Hope blood goes well and you don't finish up like a bruised & blue pincushion
Oooh, grapes, hope this is the year Dusty. I've not checked my one recently, I have a bunch but may have shrivelled up for all I know
Taff, tried to prune the water shoots off the apple tree, no idea what I'm doing and I couldn't reach all the higher ones, Snap, I think I know what I'm doing, but stopped due to heat, more to do, just not in this heat. I resort to long handled loppers for the very top most ones
That bumble bee could be a Norwegian one, dreaming of the fiords now his team are out of the footy
Anyone fancying a browse? DT Brown have some seeds down to quid, still have P & P to pay, but I get a free P & P pop up in exchange for your details. Not sure if it would work if a returning punter, but could be worth a punt if some seeds you have been craving for are in the sale
No further gardening planned, I can see blackberries but in baking sun and not ideal spot for an old bloke on meds. I may squirt hose on my leaning beans later, no ban here

Started with a grey rain looking cloud but that turned into blue sky and sunshine again. Still a cool wind though which is a blessing.
Managed to get the watering done (sigh) and the broccoli and kale planted despite them being tiny and repeatedly eaten. Hopefully they'll come good because the garden centre do hardly any veg.
The rest had to wait as the freezer door wasn't shut and trying to defrost when you can't bend and a slippery floor is a challenge 🫤 then I found an egg had broken on the floor and mat I put down for my safety 😬 so that was most of the day.
Too shattered to do anything else. I have a weird supper from what defrosted.
No sign of this weather changing for the next 10 days.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Up early again, usual heat related cause ☹️
2P I have a weird supper from what defrosted I can sympathise with that, it was only recently my freezer conked. At least you know the cause, hope you have not had too much defrosted.
Good that you managed watering, and some veg. Frustrating when there are things to be done but body can't
With early rising, I took advantage & have picked some blackberries. One I have is a volunteer, no idea of variety, it grew up near a wall. Thorn less & laden with long tasty berries in large clusters, a mystery cracker.
Weather, cooling breeze but hot forecast again, No sign of this weather changing for the next 10 days Same here, good job I made the early start before it gets going again.
And I managed to get the runners back upright, I've put extra canes in as a bit of scaffolding, with still not a bean to be seen
It is noticeable that the apples are now swelling, just need to get on with the summer pruning
Here is the one plum that grew after a promising start. Even this is banana shaped & blemished, and still hard, but it is all I have, cherished like an ugly child 😁Couldn't even get it in focus, it's jinxed
