Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Welcome back, Bluey! You were missed!
Glad to hear Mr Polski is OK now.
His country sounds less appealing weatherwise than this one, though the...err ....administration's not bad by the standards we see today.
No gardening yesterday due to the removal of a fairly large ferret cage (10'x 6'6" x 3' in old money) which took a long time, mainly due to rusty nuts
and frozen fingers.
Back later maybe. Got more Wolf Moon this morning. This was last night when they promised us snow and other nasties, but all we had was a light dusting and -1c. Hardly Poland!

Beautiful Dusty! Saves me having to download mine because yours is better 🙂
Just a quick dip in to say I was listening to this about hedgehogs. The first half especially has things I didn't know. The infinite monkey cage

Thought I should post while I remember 😵💫
Some sun has come out on one side and looks like no wind so that's better as long as I don't look the other side.
Well it didn't get any warmer or brighter but it was a beautiful sky this afternoon with pink and grey clouds and some glowing gold.
The sea has become a frilly petticoat with only the edges white frills.
Been watching country file and the big freeze. Reminds me of how important a fireplace is and a gas cooker. It would be disastrous if it happened now.
But the end was about wildlife and feeding the birds so I'm popping out to put more mealworms on the bird table tonight.
Looking forward to getting into a warm bed tonight.
Hope your chilblains are less itchy Bluey.
Hope Poppy has the fire going. It looks dire up there.
Looking across the channel it doesn't look to great in Wales either.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Hope your chilblains are less itchy Bluey.Mine's just the view from the front we'd have if we were by the road, or if the house had an upstairs. Looked into the latter, and got planning permission too, but it was way over our budget.
I will pass on the hedgehog programme to Mrs Dusty, who doesn't have the allergy to Prof Brian Cox that afflicts me!
Ah, the Big Freeze....'63 or '46? I was only around for one of them.
I recall the road clearance guys on Exmoor having temporary shelters in snow caves, and not quite finishing an igloo.
We were lucky to be up there. Most kids didn't have that experience. It was like visiting the Arctic Circle. In '63 we'd converted the Aga to oil on a gravity feed, so our house was fine. As you say, if the electric goes down now, nothing works, except our wood burner. Oddly, or perhaps not in view of recent news, I've just ordered a second non-electric kettle.
Chilblains!
Few people have had the pleasure in recent times. Always worst and itchy, just before they get better.
No moon visible tonight, and it's sleeting, but not 'pitching.' Colder just before dawn, allegedly. Anyway, I still haven't downloaded this morning's photos, so here are a couple more from last night.

Morning all - on Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival day. I could do you one of them in my kitchen, it's freeeezing here!
I'll not bother putting on my moon photos either since yours are so good Dusty - I especially like your second to last one, with the gate. Will that be January in our calendar then? Maybe you don't hear of chilblains any more cos of Global Broiling.. *checks outdoor temp*... nope, that's not it
Happily I have no aversion to Brian Cox, either of them actually, so I'll listen to your thing tonight after Only Connect 2p
Right here's some pics. I have stuff growing in my garden! Almost happily! -

Lucky I got the pics when I did, cos I went out just after that to get supplies and this happened -
I say "I" because himself had volunteered to go, with a small precise shopping list - milk, veg for the dinner etc - and came back with 4 chrissy cakes and 4 big tubs of brandy cream. Just those, nothing else. Because they were bargains and he said he couldn't resist  Useless article.
Anyway. It's -4 out there and FL is -15, with a bitter wind. If I was better at getting pictures I'd take one of the sky - it's a braw bricht moonlicht nicht out there and no mistake 🥶 It also says it’s snowing but it’s not. That’ll start when I leave for work. For every packet of fags you smoke, Jesus takes a month off your life and gives it to Keith Richards.5 -
At least work will be warm Bluey.
Congratulations on the flowers, that's a good haul if only it would warm up a bit.
You'll need that fruit cake and butter. What about having it on toast in the morning 😄
It's -2c out there. Sunny, slight breeze. No frost.
I've taken to going to bed at midnight and up late then I can sleep though what's his face starting the car so more later.
,I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Power cut!
Lost the lot!
Must get on, so here are a couple of Wolf Moon pics that came at the end of my post. I was just about to press 'Post Comment' when the grid went down. :'( :'( And the crying emoji's still broken. Wah!

Some good Moon pics Dusty, and flowers YBE, must be a tropical paradise up thereWoke up to snow, not much, but down here more than two flakes equals Arctic blizzardsSo I'll be strictly indoors today, I fall over easily enough without slipping on ice
Don't Chrissy cakes keep forever? Or maybe it's just posh boozy ones?Seeing mention of meal worms, I may see about some because I have a robin that comes close tom the house, hops in among the grapefruit bush outside my window [sheltered natch]I'll have see if I can get a feeder etc from up RiverJust looked, I'll get some fatty half coconut shells in with my delivery this Wednesday, let's hope Roland rat or Sidney Squirrel is not tempted back
Chilblains, we were always warned about them, putting frozen fingers on the school radiators, did any one else put socks over their hands? Like mittens. Still froze though after snowballing battleDefrosting our feet in the gas oven when we got home from school
Reads like torture but it was perfectly normal back in the days with frost ferns on the inside of the windowsNo wonder my bones creak these daysHope the power comes back Dusty, at least you do have alternative heat.No gardening today, but I've just discovered YT about a rapper who has taken over a farm, sort of Clarkson like but even more naive, sounds good so should keep me quite for a bit. It's Fekky if you fancy a searchNumerus non sum6 -
I think I might.
Busy today with dentist and table tennis. My first trip out socialising for a fortnight 😵💫 but stuck inside because of the cold otherwise and the TV is dire. I'm watching the first series of death in paradise for the sight of warmth.
Used to go swimming in tropical waters at this time of year pre pandemic.
I put vaseline on the seed holding pole to deter rats. Worked and entertainment as well 😄
I remember sitting on radiators and told I'd get piles, ditto sitting on cold steps.
Yes sitting right in front of fire or feet stretched out to it. Eating crumpets, shreddies or shredded wheat slathered in butter. Ooo that was nice.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Nooo, so wrong. Please tell me you never had them with a snotty egg on top like the adverts were pushingtwopenny said:Yes sitting right in front of fire or feet stretched out to it. Eating crumpets, shreddies or shredded wheat slathered in butter. Ooo that was nice.

No, just a lump of butter on the side of a plate. You could say it was butter with some shreddies.
Salt went on buttered crumpets.
Surprising I'm still alive by today's advice.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!
