YoungBlueEyes said:Popping on without catching up to say I hope you suvveners are alright, especially 2p + Dusty 🤞🏻Nothing remarkable here; just drizzle and a strong breeze, but thanks for thinking about us.
We only get excited when the tiles start jumping.
Looks as if you're a few degrees colder, but still missing the worst.
Our DD1 in the Midlands has about 3-5 cm of snow. Over 40 000homes are without power in Cornwall, and allegedly they've cancelled the trains here, but DD2 says she can still see and hear them passing.EDIT: Geoff from 'Geoff Buys Cars' live-streamed his drive up the M5 in the Midlands during a lively snowstorm. The motorway hadn't been gritted at that stage.

It sounds like it's windy out there but I'm not getting out of comfy spot to look.
Suddenly tickly throat and cough looks like I might still be here tomorrow.
Anything that needs attention can wait 😏
I was worried about Poppy with terrible conditions up there. Hope she's warm and dry.
Bluey, I was thinking about you just now. Great Rivers and the elephants walking through the reception of the lodge. You've got to go and see that 🤩

Just popping in to check on you all, the news predicted red for you down south. So hoping you are all unscathed.
some lovely moon pics, a lot of pages to catch up on. I haven’t ventured in the garden since I took down the Xmas decs, and did the garden tidy . I have had a letter saying the council are going to plant some trees on the edge of some nearby playing fields. 👏🏻
I have some January birthdays to buy for and I’ve had a lot of hair decluttered.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5 -
wort said:Just popping in to check on you all, the news predicted red for you down south. So hoping you are all unscathed. The red was for the funny lot in the county next door, who put jam on before the cream.
Here, it was just a blustery night with hail and rain battering on the windows. At this time of year, it's routine for us to get weather like that, so we check everything is secure and get plenty logs in etc.I think the Midlands and Wales probably had 'our' snow, and it's scandalous the M5 wasn't gritted ahead of the heavy stuff falling.
It's good that councils are still planting trees. If only they could keep roads as good and litter-free, as they did in the 1990s, when Devon's were among the best.
Perhaps, if we had some relatively unskilled people with no jobs, just sitting around, being paid to do nothing, the problems might be solved.
Yesterday, I gave you Viburnum tinus, somewhat out of focus. Today I can't find the 'proper' pictures of it I took.
So instead, here is someone else's picture I liked at the Fatstock Show. The theme was 'Christmas Morning.' It didn't win, but in my opinion, maybe it should have. Credit to whoever took it!
Sunny, breezy, and about 6c outside, so I'm off to have fun...

They said trees, but we only got tree, a crab apple, which at least survived last year's drought and should show it's worth this Spring2P, I think tickly throat & cough is "doing the rounds", every advert seems to be advertising cough stuffCloser inspection at the front on way back indoors, I can confirm my Jap Ans are alive and sprouting into growth, must be toughThe foxgloves & Honesty are a bit sorry for themselves, alive but some dead leaves need trimming off. Not in the weather thoughSpotted a BT on the half coconut near the nest box, BT flew away as soon as I started looking, but at least it is not invisible to the BTsJust refreshed, cracking pic Dusty, I'd have given it a prizeWhen an eel bites your bum, that's a Moray6

Brief again.
Miserable bug or inhaling fumes from sink cleaner and couldn't sleep. Fierce sore throat, coughing hurts, shivers and flush so it's a day in bed to keep steady temperature.
Yes it's a bit windy, showers, occasionally sun but mostly grey. Around 3c.
Yes I love that photo Dusty. Excellent and different. It's a first from me 🏆
Farway congratulations on the bird success. I was going to mention that they won't nest if there's food there as other birds will come.
A wide open space with back to the wall, fence. But if they are feeding in sight that's a win 🙂
The blackbird is in the garden most of the day at the moment which is a pleasure 😍
Wort, hair decluttering sounds interesting. Do you put it out for the birds?I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Yes, it does have a screw to tension it Dusty, we'll see how it goes though. Shame he didn't ask you if he could put the soil to one side as a ready bed, would have been much easier all round...2p, just watch the kickback towards you when you're using one, it's like a stronger version of a reciprocating saw..this is if you haven't used one before obviously [ I hadn't...]Farway, you're like the child snatcher from Chitty Chitty with all your BT enticements
Tarka dahl ::snort:: I think I've grown the apricot one from them before, the guy is american isn't he? I'm sure I've bent his ear at a gardening show before..and another one with a tomato guy, I was telling him about Piglet Willies French Black and promising to send seeds. I still have seeds but the last couple of years they've definitely dropped off production and size, so if anyone has any fresh, I'm happy to pay for postage and swap what I have.explosive cyclogenesis sounds pretty serious too, does it translate to a bit of rain and some wind but nothing really major? Or at least that's what we had. The weather must not have paid attention to the dire warnings for our area...I'd have given Christmas Morning a prize too. That is one perfect sheep bum too.Funny, I was telling my cousin about the power pack thing a couple of days ago Farway. She's never heard of such a fantastical object and purchased one straightaway
This was unfortunately after she had to call out the AA, who she assured me were not alcoholics or anonymous.Hope your lurgy didn't develop any further 2p, the elefants sound brilliant, reminds me of a kids show called A Horse in the House...I was a horsey child and loved anything to do with them but was wildly allergic to them.I have done zero of anything of note I'm afraid, too cold etc...And I can't sleep for over thinking so that's why I'm up...Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi6 -

'Polar vortex' is wearing out, fast, and the public are losing interest in our doomsaying.”
I don't know the nationality of the Sea Spring people, but they were very efficient. The seeds arrived by first class post in about 24 hours.
I drew a blank on that, but burrowing down a related rabbit hole produced these, and another interesting supplier.-taff said:I was telling him about Piglet Willies French Black ....
Shhh! Don't mention this to Farway!
OT: We may have hit zero here overnight, as indicated by the super-accurate Photoc Test. (Put hand on top of car.)Like yesterday, it seems we'll be basking in 6-7c today, and then positively roasting on Sunday, with 12c.
That comes with free drizzle, though.
With a bit of luck, Mrs Dusty, still stuck in the administration bunker, might be persuaded to visit Rosemoor on Monday. Meanwhile, as I'm on a sheep theme, here's something we're seeing a lot of in the fields right now. There might also be someone's grandhild in the photo, but what the Speaker of the HofC is doing with the hay in the background, is anyone's guess!Hope the lurgy has blown away east, like the storm, 2p.

Morning all
Search - Jupiter at opposition (Might get a bit of use out of that one, we've had some lovely clear starry skies here.)
So we all made it through then? We got a bit of wind and rain as the top edge of the swirl crossed us, but it was nothing out of the ordinary for this time of year tbh *shrug* The weatherman on our local news - Paul Hudson - was calling out the Big Boys for over-hyping the thing and told them off for saying the UK was under a rare Red Warning (rather than saying parts of the UK). He named Sky TV as the worst, making too much out of something. He was right to do it, if everything is the worst then how do you make people take notice when they really need to... I wish pp would just pop back on and let us know how she's getting on up there
You've JapAns Farway? Traitor! Turncoat! How did you manage that please
Thanks for the link 2p, I'll watch it in a min when I've finished this
Get your tulip bulbs planted taff, it's nearly time for them to come up
Dusty could you not get the original workmen back to do the job properly help you sort it out? Deadwood Stage - I'll have Doris Day singing whipcrackaway in my head all day now
Less did the rain wash away all your snow? No more pics..?
For anyone who needs cheering up, here's a story. A couple are selling their house and a young family are buying it. Progressing rightly but not fast enough for any of them, so they thought they'd just get themselves organised and move into each other's houses because they each wanted to be in for Christmas. The selling couple have realised they don't like the new house actually and want to pull out, but the buying family are loving it and are staying put. This is all before exchange. We only heard about it cos the the couple rang us complaining they can't get the family out of their house and want us to initiate court proceedings. BBM said "are you fuggen joking?!" No honestly, that's what they've done! "Well it's tough ship because we aren't litigators" It didn't go down well at all
Gawd knows what Monday will bring...
OT -2 out there and it's all a bit sparkly and frosty. No wind today but it's given showers on and off all day, possibly. My washer's on regardless.Honesty is the best poverty.5 -
Those elephants are brilliant 2p
Aww babby lambs Dusty, I can smell them from here
Also I forgot to say earlier - good luck with your trees wort. Any indication of what/when?
Also also - are you any further on with your light-up-the-neighbourhood neighbours gb? Be good if they could take those lights down when they're taking down the rest of the Christmas decs...Honesty is the best poverty.3
