Awful weather - typical Brits talk

I painted one of those on a set of desert plates for someone in Harley Street but that's another story.

Dusty, Brymore I thought was down south molton way but see I was wrong. However it's reached Williton in Somerset where a school has also closed so making it's way down. Being Christmas you can be sure all the kids and parents will be out and about.
I too have sanitizer in the car and each bag since I got Norovirus from a supermarket shop. Probably trolly, years back.
Same with Covid. Guy I passed stacking shelves had the awful cough and I said he should go home. My neighbour and I both shop there and yup, we both got it.

Anyhoos, it's been raining and hailing here. The only gardening was still wondering what to do about the plums.
I thought they would have fallen off by now but no, many are swelling nicely. 
I wonder if they might wait to ripen next summer, like figs. I've got to at least keep some to see.
I'd like the cows to fart a bit more and warm us up 😀

Agree with Forsythia and the Hyacinth. 

It’s been absolutely pouring,the roads that flood all did ,I wish the council would sort them out. It causes chaos .
No gardening done. Works do last night, a nice meal and home like Cinderella,on the stroke of midnight. Unlike the young contingent who turned out mid afternoon and continued into town till gawd knows what time.
looking bright so far ,not checked the forcast but I’m sure rain will put in an appearance.
edit just checked forcast and no rain till tomorrow then it’s mad rain.

Forsythia saga, brilliant I think that's the name I was looking for - I've one like it in the garden meself but the label is long gone. It was a lovely full healthy bush thing 'til TPTB massacred it - there were wee birds in there and all sorts, possibly even a blackie. Ignorant swines.

I'd say hyacinths for your leaves too taff. I used to love them but they give me awful headaches so I had to stop buying them How's himself's foot/ankle? Was it a break or a fracture or what..? Must have been bluddy agony on a plane, bless him.

Trying to do a proper post from memory now. Did you say you were semi seriously looking on MightMove 2p? Anything taking your fancy..? Come on up here - we've coast line and moors and everything. I've never seen a pony up there but you'd get more for your money   Your plums seem happy enough, will you just leave them to get on with it now? 

I deffo agree we should have tiny nuclear reactor Farway. We could build the lake on top of it and keep the fishes warm  
I'll keep my head down at work and not poke OMM any more, and not just because I couldn't find stick-on googly eyes I do quite like my job really, it's just some of the staff and most of the clients that make me want to reach for the shotgun. Looking around at what else is out there I think I'm best off where I am. And my baby pension pot agrees.

Is that black cat yours that appears on HogCam Dusty? Cup&Saucer vine is a belter eh, you'd think you were in the tropics

OT well it's a lovely sunny freezing cold and windy day here but it's dry at least. Jeez we had some rain yesterday - it started before I got up and was still going at bedtime. You'd wonder where it all came from! It wasn't particularly cold though, that's today's feature. It was 2'c when I got up but the FL was -7' Felt like it too, that wind would cut you in half and keep going :brrr: Who else has got Tusky? Have you seen the forecast for a week next Wednesday? Proper Holy Moly territory over this side :eek: Possibly.

Taff's bulbs, Hyacinths it is then. As Dusty says, if they were going to flower they should have embryo flowers at this stage. 

You could just keep on, give them a feed to build them up a bit, and then plant out into the garden once the frosts are gone, and they should flower come 2027 and there after

They'll never look like the posh ones in the shops but would give a bit of colour in spring

Talking of feeds, my old but growing amaryllis leaves are a bit pale, I think I'll add some fertilser in the next watering

Now that would be my luck, go to Morries, all plants are dead as per normal, but come home with Norovirus topped up with Covid

I'm a bit sniffly, mild Lurgy I think, so taking easy again, but will cut down my potted Bishop dahlia now it's been fully frosted, and get the pot into the conservatory

Black cat is fairly recent. Still in good condition, but may have been abandoned.  It's obviously hungry, but we aren't seeing it in daytime at present. One of our cats has shown-up on the camera, but with the nights being colder, both prefer to stay in, or keep close to home. There was no activity caught on camera last night.  It was nippy, but no frost.

Lovely sunshine today, so I'm off to make the most of it!  Before I go, here's a wee bargain spotted at the GC yesterday......Err, steady-on!   Form an orderly queue, please!

OT my god but it's raining out there, properly persisting and lashing and being whipped against my front windows. Not cold though, said wosname on CountryFile last night and I spose it isn't as chilly as it was. Lovely and bright and a grand day to get your wash out tomorrow, he said. 9'c out there now and we can "expect light rain in the next hour" and the FL is -1. Gusty winds out there - up around 40mph 'til bedtime, they say. That'll keep the geese in their beds.

It's just light rain here, gloomy and has raised itself to 8c with a light breeze. As predicted by the beeb wforcast.

I missed my chance to mow the lawn yesterday or do some jobs. Met a friend for coffee and she's the second to get addicted to her phone. I watched my way through photos of her holiday, weekend away, show they'd recorded 😵‍💫

I did get the Merlin app downloaded last week but I've tried 3 times and it picks up wind, traffic but not the owl hooting away or the seagulls. Says you have to be somewhere quiet with the bird close by. Well in that case I probably know what it is 😬
So that will probably go.
Perhaps it's as well. Said friend wanted to know what a plant was and whipped out her phone for an app. If she'd asked me stood beside her I could have told her!

Domestic doings today. It's supposed to clear up tomorrow but will probably be soggy. We'll see.

Nearly the solstice but the sun should start rising sooner. I'll have to try and find the article.

I also hope pp is OK. She's a very reliable poster, and not seeing her here on any of the threads, is a worry. Of course, life sometimes gets in the way...

We don't know the black cat's a stray. With none of the 3 properties in the nearby complex selling this year, there are new folks renting them over winter, and there's also a fairly irresponsible chaotic cat-person who may have fancied another. It's not scared of people, so the odds are against it being a farm cat. 

Last night, neither hog nor black cat showed-up, but a pretty little black & white passed without stopping. We know where that one lives. We won't take in any stray cats. Our two are middle-aged sisters, who don't even get on with each other.   The only time they can be found in the same room, is when the wood burner's going! 

Decorations take a week here. First step is a big conservatory clean.  The conservatory is the only space large enough for the long Christmas dinner table! 

On the subject of Christmas, anyone else see AI Trailer Home's update to 'A Christmas Carol' on the Tube? Not as funny as I expected, so far, and a little scary, considering how far the medium has come in a year.

OT: Nothing drastic happening here yet, and the rivers are still well within their banks. Among us, it seems Less may have the orange warning.

No new plant photos yet, so thinking of pp, here's a Rosemoor Scotch Thistle, sitting in the...err... Mediterranean Garden!  Some nice lichen too.

They didn't glue some on very well.  Far too many on the ground, potentially feeding slugs in some places, not that I can talk!
