Awful weather - typical Brits talk

Ah Dusty if only that was the problem, it’s come to the point that dd is taking photos of themselves handing over forms, they’ve lost so many !! Beautiful 😻 !!!!!! cat , santolina is not too shabby either.Farway don’t say that ! 🙏🏻 I’m currently giving Barnsley baby a hard stare 🤨
I’m in the garden and just attacked the variegated Abies then had to spend ages chopping into tiny pieces to put in bin bag , because I have run out of receptacles to put them in. It’s very warm again but overcast , may go visit dsis, so I don’t accidentally chop everything in my garden down.Tbh that’s mentality is how I minimalised my home.😂Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.5 -
Nice to see you back, taff. How come you're allowed to ignore the hosepipe ban??
Thanks for the interview vibes, everyone, I'm starting to have cold feet about it, not helped by DH's lack of encouragement. He thinks this job is not for me (he's probably right) and that I should keep looking for what I'm qualified to do. I haven't accepted the interview yet, so I'll think about it over the weekend and hopefully make a decision.
Lovely photo of the pussycat and lovely pom pom plant, Dusty.
Have you been off today, YBE??
Did you see on the news that a cricket match was postponed because the players were being 'attacked' by ladybirds, Farway. I think the hot weather had caused a bit of a population explosion of them, as it did in 1976, or thereabouts??
twopenny, I was actually up at 3.50am the other morning. Last night I was awake at 3am, but didn't get up and nodded off again. Did you have a better sleep, or is (whatever you're calling him) neighbour still waking you up??
Hope the hard stare is working on the Barnsley, wort.
OT, it was a grey start, but there was a lovely glimmer of brightness on just one bit of the loch first thing this morning. It's been a bit sticky at 18 degrees today, but we've had a bit of sun, a bit of rain and a lot of cloud.'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -
Forgot to post the pic from this morning…

No harm in doing the interview poppy. That doesn't mean you have to take the job ... or even that they'll offer it to you. And the interview practice is always good.7

Thanks, greenbee, I though someone would say that
Interviews stress me out so much though, so I don't want to put myself through that (and the lead up to it) if I'm not that fussed on the job. I agree that interview practice is useful though and the daft thing is I'd probably encourage someone else to go along for an interview even if they weren't sure about the job...

If interviews make you stressed, all the more reason to get some practice in and do lots so you get used to them!6

One half of a cupboard was enough to fill my not inconsiderable boot [down Farway!] with eight black bags and various other bags. Luckily I have palmed some off on OHs mum and a friends daughter who will do some sewing with it.I've posted a pic of the garden on my thread [ sounds grand...] and you can really see how the weather has killed off the grass. Well done weather even if you were not pleasant to live in then.Farway, yeah the films because I remembered a day or so ago, schweinhund isn't it! Yours and my apples both in need of something, mine were a glorious deep red colour last year, this year, a very washed out one.How very dare they relegate you to domestic nonsense 2p. Shame you can't sue them for pain and suffering that caused!Wort, I know what you mean re shrubs but luckily, I've decided I'm going to move them all to the allotment because I didn't realise how big hypericum grew and I don't like the flowers anyway...Good to know re olives Dusty, mine should survive to go in the ground then..Your santolina is lovely [you've mentioned that variety before] and cat is obviously in love with it....which reminds me, mine is also destined for the allotment. Still got polytunnel envy btw...Good news about the hydrangea too.pp, I'm in the might as well do the interview if only for practice camp...I'm the proud owner of a blue badge thanks to various ailments so I get to ignore it. To be honest, I don't know that a hosepipe ban actually achieves that much because you can still fill your waterbutts [ no, I'm not doing that] and fill your watering cans, you're just not allowed to leave it on willy nilly. SO you can still do everything you were going to do anyway, just with cans.It was quite warm and dry today but not too sunny but I missed most it being as I was in urgent care with OH. He came off his bicycle almost two weeks ago now but he wasn't getting better, he was getting worse so we've gone to make sure he's not at deaths door. He's not luckily. But that meant no gardening today or playing as I like to call it.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi7

Love the pussycat. That is a great photo.
It took me a moment to find the cat 🙂 it's well camouflaged.
Bluey I did just that and went to the camera shop and held what they had but too big for my hands.
Our bank people are lovely, off to see them tomorrow if the legs working. Post still being chucked on the floor by another postie though so that's Monday's job to do. It's Groundhog Day!!!!
Love a moody picture of water and hills Poppy. Very tranquil.
Yes go for it knowing you're not going to take it. Get all your mistakes over with something that doesn't matter.
Mind I did that twice and got offered the job 😄 Third one I made a complete what's it of myself. Still cringe when I think of it.
When they said ' where do you see yourself in 5yrs ' I said something like 'in the Seychelles having won the lottery '
I also spent one complimenting the view out of the window......to be fair it was amazing 😁
Wort what's an Abies?
Taff are you allowed to have a bath? I decided before I paid for water to go on the garden I'd bathe first then use buckets of it on the plants.
Hope the oh is ok.
Did a lot of deadheading and clearing up, pruning probably badly but needs must when it's not too hot.
Found some little potatoes under the dead plants and tiny onions.
Ate my Apricots today. I was trying to ration myself but keeping them a few days has made all the difference. The flavour is amazing!
It was worth all the effort. Hope it survives.
If you see one Farway give it another go - though I think I was lucky with the ridiculous hot dry weather this year.
Now do I try the onions as sets or will they bolt? They did last time I tried it but I think I'd left them in.
Barely something for nothing.......but they were the neglected near deceased ones I didn't think would survive.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Two quick pics - wasp bum, on another wild garden volunteer (broad-leaved Helleborine) which had popped up in an unexpected place...and today's even less-expected sighting, one of two Hummingbird Hawkmoths, not the easiest thing to photograph...they appeared along with (smallish) clouds of butterflies (bonus one in photo 2) in a brief break in the clouds...Loved the ladybird poem by the way!7
