One of the amaryllis flowers has opened properly now ❤️
Well done on the PB win, Farway.

Forgot to say our Tesco had fruit trees for 7.00£ .Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.7

Wort I'm still waiting for my £5 apple tree from Tescos to get some leaves - let alone blossom or apples. It's alive, it just sits there a bunch of branchesThe mist came in heavy this afternoon but still not cold thankfully
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Morning all. Beautiful
morning here for travelling down to BottomLeftLandia to collect Frigg in Worcester <snigger>Thanks to your pic Dusty I now know it’s a hellebore that was giving a severe haircut to yesterday morning so I can see the flowers 😊
Might have to rename Shawshank patch to Land of the Death-defying Bulbs. The blanched one is perfectly fine and dandy now thankyouverymuch, and my pots of daffs are showing a couple of inches growth 😀I love that your blackie followed you to the back door pp 😍 Your misty Morn would make a good calendar pic 2p 😊
That’ll do, it’s a beggar of a job to do properly on my phone.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.9 -
Sunny & mild, ideal for YBE driving Sarf to Frigg in Worcester [Snort !

Update from T & M, my begonias tubers / corms? Are on the way. Those death defying bulbs look fine YBE, some things just carry on, others just curl up & die at the first opportunityHad a spot of drizzle yesterday, nicely timed because it will have lightly watered in the seeds sown earlier in the week, including the erg wahtnamnes & lobelia seed dustI'm starting to have doubts about this year's compost from my milkman, despite looking good & having peat it is “caking” with the leggy dahlia seedlings, and the rocket has been standing still for a fortnight, just seed leaves on spindly stalksThis afternoon I may mix up a weak liquid fertiliser for them both, see if it perks them up a bitFound the tomato seeds for sowing this weekend, just the indoor ones for now, includes some old favourites, like Sungold, Balcony Yellow & ShirleyI'll start them in cells in the airing cupboard, seems to be nice gentle warmth in there.Spotted pear buds on my garden patrol yesterday, at least I'll get blossom, even if zero pears again.
Spring is late here this year, my FB memories showing rhubarb, hyacinths & peach blossom at this time years agoToday is my Jetfire daffs, flowered in 2024 and looks like they have decided to stay.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens9 -
wort said:Forgot to say our Tesco had fruit trees for 7.00£ .Our Sainsburys had fruit bushes, but I was so frazzled by the time I reached them, they were ignored. Some numpties shut our route to civilisation halfway up the 1:5 hill section and with the 'alternative route' being steeper, single track and only partially metalled, I dared not risk it in the van. If I'd got stuck.....
So, I was naughty, pulled a couple of cones aside and went on....to find the road was simply down to one lane with a small drain cover cordoned off. Even a bus could have passed, but no, they'd been re-routed.
Two sets of 3 way lights later, I reached the farmers' store.....to find no beefy staff to load stuff.
Staff sickness. Being no-nonsense farmers, folks were loading-up themselves, so I joined in, only to have a young lady supervising say, "You shouldn't have to do that at your age!" OK, I'm not the size and shape of most farmers, and I was puffing a bit wrestling with a bale of shavings, but doing that sort of thing is wot keeps me alive!
Besides, when I reach home there's usually just Mrs D....but she does have a good sack truck.
Anyway, the fruit bushes looked over-packaged, and they were indoors, so probably 'sealed for life,' or 7 days, if you get my meaning.Your apple is like my apples, 2p. Not a lot happening yet. This year looks like most of the others, when they fend for themselves.YoungBlueEyes said:Morning all. Beautiful

La voiture....I rest my case!
You're quite right to cut all the leaves from your hellebores now. There's a bit of black spot if you look closely. They harbour black spot fungus, which can spoil the flowers. Here's another of mine. The white plant yesterday suffers like many do with the flowers looking down. A cultivar with them outward-facing is heaps better.

Short post to say, bright but not sunnyI like that Jetfire Farway. That's a little treasure. I may have to find a space for some.Lovely photo Dusty. I have that Hbr. It's a good doer but a bit of a thug for a small garden I found.Congrats on the car Bluey, I had names to suit colours Buttercup/Primrose/Rosebud and then came Gismo........that seemed to suit as it definitely wasn't femine and was to do with the number plate.Cleared all the leaves that came down in the storm at last, edged and cut the lawn. Yanked a lot of weeds out along with a couple of bits I knocked off the Pinks so there's a cutting or two.One treasure (not that I need more of these) but the Heucura? had seeded and I found a baby one.I got a bit carried away with Morries £2 ones and what I thought would look lovely round the pots is very Meah. But goodness knows where to put them if I revamp.Still, what I thought was a hopeless garden now looks quite charming and real good - down one side at leastLong late phone call so I'm all behind.

I'm all behind too. Very tired after a five and a half hour round trip to sort more stuff at MiL's. We decided to come back via Largs for fish and chips (they weren't great) as it was such a nice day...
The island in the distance is Arran, taken from a moving car on the way to Largs.
Happy new car, YBE. Your bulbs are looking nice and healthy now.
Lovely Hellebore pic, Dusty, I like the colours on that one.
Very striking Jetfire daffs, Farway, with matching lettering.
Right, time to finish off my gin and get myself to bed - I'm absolutely shattered Zzzzzzz...'A watched potato will never chit'...9 -
Perhaps one for @Farway and anyone else filling community gardens. Went into Lidl last night and they have "Autumn Bulbs" including a lot of glads and dahlias, some lilies and less usual stuff.
Compared with some I've encountered there's a decent amount of weight in the opaque bags and some corms seem a decent size, so not last year's desicated left overs. Some single dahlias, some mixed packs, some single variety glads (15?) and some "interesting" combinations (12)
As ever, they've three pack codes and prices listed for only two. Smaller packs are £1.49 and larger packs ending 97 or 63 are £2.49.
And as ever, don't assume that what you get is going to be what's illustrated, though. I'll use some for cut flowers and ignore the rogues.
If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing8
