Less, that’s a good moon shot.
Pp loved your thrush, if that was through a window t you did marvelously mine would have had me reflected in the glass.
I think my eye was an allergic reaction, I don’t drive so no worries there. The anti histamines worked best and the skin on my eyes is dry.there’s some improvement now.
Poor dog a colleague thought my eye might be a bite but I didn’t think so. My cat like to catch wasp and bees so how he goes on with bites I really don’t know.
last night he was crying to come in and I didn’t put the hall light on, as I walked past him laid on the floor I realized he’d brought in a mouse 😳😱the resulting fiasco would have been funny if it wasn’t happening in my house. Luckily dgson was there and he managed to get it back outside .
Frosty start lots of scraping cars here, but looking like the sun may arrive soon. Need to put the wash on.

Waves to YBE in the general direction of Portugal
hope you're having a relaxing time, apart from the being mafted. My DD used that word here and her colleagues didn't have a clue what she was talking about
Aw, your poor wee dug, W_M, he does look so sad therehas he got hairs on his chinny chin chin, or is it just the angle?? He's lovely and I just want to give him a hug. Our pussycat, when he was feral, tried eating a wasp or a bee and ended up with a big fat face. He obviously didn't learn his lesson as we occasionally get wee wasps coming in from the stove and he still tries to eat them.
Those apples look lovely, btw. I wish we had a community orchard.
Dusty, I LOVE the photo of the horseI thought the cat on the fence was facing away from you as I couldn't see the eyes. Mrs Magoo here.
Those photos are epic, Less, especially the second one. My eyes failed me again though because I thought you wrote FERRY, so I was a bit confused
wort, just seen your post, I'm glad your eye is better. Lesson learned about not putting the light on before letting your cat in - I would have been running for the hillsI'll have to have a closer look at my mistle thrush photos to make sure I'm not in them haha.
A drizzly morning here, but it's supposed to dry up this afternoon so I'll postpone my wee wander until later.'A watched potato will never chit'...5 -
So glad it's not ice here this morning Wort. I hate the cold and although the sun occasionally tries to get around the heavy cloud there's a strong NEasterly so probably a day to do indoor stuff mostly.I've got some apples stewed and as they were well ripe they are lovely and sweet. I may try and buy some from the supermarket, scrub and keep them. See if that improves them but usually they are rubbish.I miss my big apple tree and the apples stored in the shed for use all winter. Defo time to dig up the lawn/flower beds in favour of fruit and veg.Love the atmospheric moon shot and the foliage. Very late autumney. Looking forward even more to the early springyWhat did you do with the mouse Wort? My friend found one squashed and mumified under the hall carpet
when renovating and another was chasing a baby bunny round the bedroom at 5am! Cats like to have their fun.
OK time for thermals on. May move some pots and if it warms up come lunch time have a go at tidying the garden, digging up turf but it's too wet to really do much.I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Beautiful sunny morning here, and no frost either.
We have a heavy side delivery this morning, but no clue as to which end of it. I expect if I go in the shower, it'll arrive!
With all the dry weather, the lorry might make it as far as the field.
Yesterday, one of the awkward squad was quizzing my SiL about his use of chippings for the access we've just done. (It's actually, a binding material I call 'hoggin,' but it has many colloquial names.) Anyway, he thought the aesthetics of the site were better as grass, and couldn't we have used that plastic grid like the National Trust do? Also, were the new trees really a problem? I think the best thing I can do here is show what happened when Tractor Man cut our hedge....(Photo Removed)He could put the saplings within the 'V' formed by the hydraulic arm and cut the face, but he couldn't reach the top.Next year, that won't be possible either, but by next year it may be all academic for us!Honestly, I'd have enough characters here for a novel if I wanted to write one.
Smashing fern photo with moon lighting, Less. I'd do ferns here, but apart from the bracken I've no idea what most are!Yes it's mouse bringing-in season again, wort.We have a net standing by for bees and butterflies, but that needs to be supplemented by suitable mouse catching gloves.

Very confused by why you would plant trees that close to a road. They will grow over and hit cars and when/if bigger the roots will lift the road, branches will be hit by bigger vehicles or have to cross to the wrong side to avoid them.Hoggin, I haven;'t heard that for a while!

I can claim no responsibility for the ferns - they just grow where they want here... Several have got far too large and need removing, but I garden fairly "naturally" here (at least that's my excuse
). Pretty sure that one is Dryopteris filix-mas ("Male Fern"), the most common one around here - one might almost consider it a weed! I have a couple of "Lady Ferns" (Athyrium sp.) which seem to have established themselves in my veg plot, and I really should remove those before they get any bigger. I've transplanted other ferns successfully in the past, so, reminder to myself to try the same with these ones....

Blue sky & sunshine, cold though.Joining in the eye sub thread, Into town first for routine eye test, passed with one advisory, make sure to use sunglasses in bright sun, incipient cataracts, no worse than last time but better safe than laseredFor once no need for new specs, must be a world first. For any last minute shoppers, T & M have clearance bulbs [not seeds] from £1.your offers end midnight, 14th November 2024 or while stock lasts. GS is not an apple I like, but it's down to personal preferences, of course.I think with all that is going on, growing more fruit & veg is a good idea if you've roomWaves to YBE lounging in the sun.Only gardening today will be browsing the T & M offer bulbsEight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens5

Granny Smiths always seem to have a greasy coating to them, I've found. I'm not a fan either.
I hadn't heard of hoggin, but I've duly googled and apparently it's available from a builder's merchant here. Is it something you have to get tradesmen in for, with Farway mentioning the wacker??
Those trees do seem to have been planted close to the road, any idea what they are and how big they might grow?? Why do some people have to stick their noses in where they're not wanted - I hope SiL just nodded politely.
Whoever it was (wort or taff, I think) that suggested the red 'leaves' down the road from me might actually be berries, they were correct! I made a point of going that way after my walk - no idea what tree it is, but it's laden with berries, same as my holly and the two crab apple trees which have still got loads of fruit on them. Does this mean it's going to be a bad Winter??
It was actually quite mild out and I was a bit overdressed with my 3 layers plus coat. There was a kayaker out on the loch and I'm wondering if it was the same person who was paddle boarding late yesterday afternoon - hardy soul whoever it was...

Well nothing done - again!Friend called and said she's this way did I want to go for a walk and a catchup. Well that was lovely because the sun was out there just 3 miles away. So once the walk and sit down with a cup of tea the chat went on as we basked in the sun.Did get a nice view of a Cormorant though. Unfortunately she was keen too in a bright red coat and chatting so no time to get the lighting right but still.............So home grown purple sprouting broccoli for dinner. Seems the plants are producing early for some reason which is a bit annoying but I guess the goodness is ok anytimeFarway I had a look at the site. Lots of lovely stuff but why £1? Are they last years stock?I can't be tempted. I've bought fancy tulips before and they tend to only return once. So now it's Poundand tulips for me. They come on year after year. Just plain though but I'm glad of the colour after winter.I have enough daffs to start selling bunches! And don't regret it.Apologies for any spelling mistakes. Somehow I cut my finger and bled all over the bed before I noticed. Now finger tightly wrapped in a plaster so typing is tricky
