Only one (free) Lemsip required this morning, so things are improving. I'm even thinking about taking a wee 10-minute stroll to get some fresh air. Something Dusty said made me think my immune system might need a wee boost before Winter, so thank you for that
My Dad used to acquire chimney pots too, taff. I wonder if I can do a sketch from that photo, twopenny?? I'm useless at drawing, but I was given a sketch pad and some pencils as a gift a wee while ago.
The allotment looks amazing, taff. Still trying not to be envious here
I'm really glad it's not covid, wort. I've gone from swaying to light-headed now.
Love the wooden statue, Dusty. I dread to think what Farway is referring to
YBE, I had to look up Massapequa (it's a hamlet on Long Island, New York for anyone equally geographically challenged)
It sounds like we all have similar weather on here - we were supposed to have sunny spells today, but I've not seen a glimpse of the sun, just lots of cloud.
Right, it's now or never for my wee stroll - fingers crossed I don't end up in the loch...'A watched potato will never chit'...6 -
I found the grey weather perfect for gardening, not hot not cold, not windy. I went out at 8 am and came in at 2.30 , with a pit stop for lunch.I have took the large shrub out can’t recall what it is and put an Acer in its place , I took all the bits and pieces out of a chunk of the bed , and was judicious about what went back. It had started to look messy, so a lot of primroses etc taken out. There was a feathery small plant that was all over and the roots although fine were everywhere , and of course kept snapping. I’m hoping I’ve got it all though I doubt it.most of the hours were spent sifting through the roots.
The Acer had been in a pot and wasn’t happy anymore, I got it out but there was something else with entwined roots on top, so another hour sifting through that.
I’ve e cut back the climbing hydrangeas, and swept a few leaves up. I was going to use the leaf vac, but the bag of it has been eaten by something in the garage, hoping a mouse not the bigger thing😲🐭 The cat may be on rations until it’s caught. Anyway that’s another thing I can declutter or 2 if you count the mouse.
I’ve had a hot shower ,and I’m aching so a couple of hotties on my back and neck. I may need to borrow the embrocation, I doubt I’ll be able to move tomorrow.Focus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.7 -

Good work Taff! When I did mine it was keep going because when I stopped the damaged bits of me would complain so it was flat out on the couch for an hour or two.Poppy? I hope you made it back ok even if you had to rest. There's always a point where you want the fresh air. You're on the mend or at least half way. This morning was hair and stuff, so looking lovely and nowhere to go. Leg complaining but it really was too grey and wet to do anything. Washing has been out for 2 days and no drier so between it all I hadn't got the gumption to get to the garden. So I went for a walk not far away.Plenty of photos of grey mist but this is what I saw when I drove out of town car park. So cheery and I thought that would be better for everyone.I hope Farways are in as good fettleProbably misty gloom later when I've downloaded from the big camera.
I can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

Love the wooden statue, Dusty. I dread to think what Farway is referring toI've no idea what I said, but I'm glad you're on the mend. While I take a few supplements to help me through any deficiency, especially in the winter months, you'll have noticed I still caught some sort of lurgy from Mrs Dusty, who does similarly!
It wasn't bad enough to make me stop work, but I slowed-down, had siestas and knocked-off early. I'm a great believer in going outdoors for an hour or two each day in winter time, especially to ward-off SAD. We both used to suffer with that in the city, but not here.
I'm almost sure Farway was alluding to deep thought. He probably didn't want to be too explicit. It's not encouraged, especially if one's ideas are of the wrong kind, or being considered in a thought-restricted area.
Those nasturtiums make a very cheery scene, 2p. Well done, taking your camera where the sun doesn't shine! I wish I'd had mine with me this afternoon. A woodpecker was angry with me. cutting down a large cherry tree. It tut-tutted loudly quite close to where I was working.I explained I was making more space for an American Oak, but it wasn't listening."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." I survived the wee stroll yesterday (10 minutes turned into an hour) and I managed to not fall into the loch
I did notice that I can't walk in a straight line though, unless I really concentrate...
Those Nasturtiums are lovely, twopenny, I'm definitely going to have a go at growing them next year.
Hope you're not too achy this morning, wort.
Dusty, your words of wisdom weren't directed at me in particular, it was just your comment about the 'real winter weather' that struck a chord. I've been known to stay indoors for days at a time, so that's going to stop and I'll make a point of getting outside for a walk every day, come rain or shine.
The sun has just come out here and the tree (I think) next to the pruned cherry tree is looking gorgeous with its red leaves bathed in sunlightCan anyone tell what it is from this rubbish pic??
DH (who was complaining this morning that he has a sore throat - oh dear) wanted to go out to see the firework display last night - I only agreed if we could watch from a distance, as I'm supposed to avoid loud noises while I've got this inner ear problem. So a couple of photos from last night...
And a seal practicing yoga while his pals slept, from my walk yesterday...

I've a load of queer places on my weather apps pp. Normally somewhere I've read about or seen about that stick in your mind. Itms? The Massapequa one is a fisherman who owns a house over there and keeps refusing developers money to buy him out cos it's been his family home for yonks. Like him that didn't care about the motorway (M62?) wanting to go through his farm, he stood firm and made them go round him :clapping: Well he's the same, sticking firm with his (relatively speaking) shack and has no interest in money. God love him. From now on i'll specify where I've got them from so they don't look so random
Anyway. Woohoo for not having a dip on your walk pp. Your pics are lovely, I particularly like the first one and the fireworks over water one
What was your smell feathery plant wort? Fingers crossed your acer is happier now. I do love an acerHopefully you’ve only got mini critters and not big varmints
It's a bu99er when you're lovely looking and have nowhere to go 2p... did you go into your garden so your roses could see you? (sorry, I mangled your quote there Sheridan)? Those nasturtiums look well #CommonThingsWotMakeMyHeartSmile
OT cloudy, grey, still, 11'c. Which is half the temp of (daddy's favourite place in the whole world) Kyrenia at 22'
Oh and advanced notice - we're going away next week cos we're in danger of actually killing the neighbours we both need brightening up a bit. I'll look for somewhere that doesn't show any newsI removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.6 -
great photo Pp. not sure of the red leaved tree I thought it was berries or flowers! Not too bad this morning, neck is a bit sore on moving but surprisingly ok. ThanksFocus on contribution instead of the impressiveness of consumption to see the true beauty in people.6

Another grey day, but brightened somewhat by the thought of loads of people now going mad with rage at the US results TDSThose red leaves PP, thought for a moment they could be Sumach [SP?], but appear too small. Some nice pics there though, I've never managed a decent firework picture, double thumbs up for sneaking reflections in same shot. And the fiery trees, marvellous2p, my nasturtiums are fine thank you, and still nicely fettled. I was just thinking about getting a pic yesterday, now I will have to. PP, do grow some, so easy and if you get trailing just let them romp and self seedAny nasturtium seeds stick to you 2P while in the car park?pink_poppy said:I survived the wee stroll yesterday (10 minutes turned into an hour) and I managed to not fall into the loch

Those Nasturtiums are lovely, twopenny, I'm definitely going to have a go at growing them next year.Hope you find a news free zone 2P, or at least somewhere with lots of pleasant distractionsNo gardening today, but I'll try for Nasturtium pics. I need to clear some gone over pelargoniums, and generally tidy up the flower pots at the front, but too damp & CBA.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens4 -
That IS very cheery 2P. I do like nasturtiums but they never seem to want to sprawl like that for me. Hope your ankle is resting itself a bit now...Dusty, the progress comes from my bish bash bosh approach to most things. I just like ot get stuff done
To be honest though, once you have wood that's straight, there's not much you can layout differently although probably collating the sizes might have helped. That's a lovely sculpture, but I'm with farway on what he could possibly be doing [ I expect the artist didn't really think about how the mind will always sink to the basest level
Farway, the birds have already devoured the raspberries and the cherries next door and the squirrels have had it away with the walnutsseven weeks?! I don't know why I'm exclaiming, I bought an advent calendar yesterday with marshmallow cakes and salted caramel stuff so I expect we'll be fighting over that one...I laughed at the decorative ears too ! I recognised Massapequa because it's in a book I read somewhere, don't remember the book but remember the name.Of course I thought I'd pressed post but hadn't so when I refeshed I lost half of what I'd written [ breathe a sigh of relief right now!]Wort, not good to see the emobrcation whiff train is keeing going but at least you'll smell lovely for all the tigers..Love the yoga sealSo the wood delivery came very early, so that's stacked now which means I can swing a couple of hours at the allotment moving more compost. It's drizzling a bit which is good, because the compost is bone dry.Not watching the news either.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi5
