Oooh, I've proper aurora envy now PP, it was just another cloudy night here, not even a star to be seen.Sun sort of trying, but it's at least stopped raining, it hammered down yesterday evening.YoungBlueEyes said:Short post this morning cos I'm typing one handed. I rushed out yesterday to get the wash in when I heard it start raining and tripped out the back door and came down on my wrist
Jeez I was cross. I think it's just muscular and not boneular though. The boiler man couldn't fix the boiler, it wants parts - something to do with electrodes and the muffler (?!) so he's getting a price for them and letting me know.
Scrambled eggs and tea sounds positive Farway, hopefully you're on the mend now from whatever it was. It took me a second to work out why you'd put a naughty on the end of your neighbour's letter sentence :rolleyes:My boiler electrodes had to be replaced in 2021, normal wear & tear.My boiler man asked me to buy them, £34, for him to fit during 2022 service. He found part & price, supplier etc for me, all I had to do was pay on line and hold onto them for him to fit.If you CBA you could search using your boiler make & model to get an idea of spares priceI wonder if Muffler is his slang for flue / exhaust?Tum continues to improve, had a twinge yesterday evening but seems OK again now. I wouldn't have felt at ease going round Wisley. Scramble eggs continue for today.Nice looking grapes Dusty, shame about the pips, which is one plus with LakemontWhile reposting my letter from France, I noticed my sedums have mostly been snail chomped, never had that problem before, the snails must be starving to sink so low. Luckily, sedums are tough enough to shrug that off, 'tis but a scratch.Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens6 -
Lovely allotment area Taff
Nice an open for light - though you may want a water tank on there as well as the compost heap if it's sunny.
Those laurels Dusty! Rather you than me. My days of hacking back that amount are long gone. And grrrrrrrr to your friend and her grapes, that is some haul.Farway, glad you're slowly recovering. I think sometimes when you have to put off a treat it can turn out to be better when you do go. Something inspiring waiting for you that wouldn't have been there earlier. And sorry about your fruit+bag but comforting to know it's not just me. I've been out contemplating moving the compost bin and relocating my sitoorie.Bluey, try one of the white elasticated wrist supports. Cheap ones do. It helps a bit but mostly it reminds you there's a problem and not to use that handSome sympathy too.
Poppy, so envious. Both Aurora and being able to visit the standing stones. You couldn't see a thing down here for the mist and the rain.It chucked it down all day yesterday and was dark too so I had a tech free day, library then sitting in my new snuggle reading corner in the living room with book, pizza and wine.Bright but damp this morning so cleaning the en suite because that's where it shows. Been for a couple of ambles round the garden making decision but it's got dark and everything is sodden so lots to do as soon as it dries out. After this year wet seems the new normal and I'm getting used to it. All but when tipping out the water from a giant cup on the garden table I found the tulip bulbs that I'd mislaid......they are hopefully drying out as I type and seem ok. Maybe flower early next yearAnd no, I haven't eaten all the biscuits, we shared out a bit at TTennis and there's lots left. Italian and German biscuits which are delicious. I'm struggling with leaving the lemon sponge shells though. Some sitoories need to be by the road. I wouldn't say no to this oneI can rise and shine - just not at the same time!

That's some sky, pp!
Maybe even worth a panic attack on the scary road, though from my distant memories, nothing's worth it at the time!
Leaves a person drained, too. My sympathies.
I hope you still enjoyed the Standing Stones today. They seem to get great TripAdvisor ratings, despite being 5000 years old....almost as ancient as the Rolling Stones. As I've no doubt said before, we have a somewhat younger stone circle here in Devon, but no one rates that! I'm not sure when it arrived; I was away at the time:
It must be symbolic of something, probably the great divide of traffic going to the north of the county or to the heathen lands of the far west.twopenny said:Those laurels Dusty! Rather you than me. That very public sitoouterie wouldn't be for me, 2p, but I'm not everyone. Seeing the background, I had a wee bet with myself where it is, and found it in under 3 minutes!"There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country." Dr Chris Martenson. Peak Prosperity5 -
You missed my joke Dusty - laurels... resting.... ..... ..... t u m b l e w e e d ..... Walking friend's grapes look crisp and sweet
"Covditz" <snigger> I like that.
That is an absolutely cracking aurora + stars pic ppHopefully you won't get another panic attack.
Slugs and snails are having their best year ever apparently Farway. It's a poor pumpkin harvest this year because of them (from last night's news). Glad you're still improving.
Ooh lemon sponge fingers 2p, they sound delish. Fingers crossed for your extraneous tulips bulbs. That's a pretty sitooterie, I like the blue flowersBird feeder wants filling though, and hanging a bit higher.
Boiler man rang last night with a price - £176+vat and he's coming back this aft. That's for the call outs, the parts, fitting, and servicing the blighter. As well as the electrodes the muffler was holding all the heat and had burnt out, and there was something about a condensate cap. Dunno. Don't care either really cos it's himself's money ha haa!
Wrist is fat and hot and annoying. It occurred to me at 0300 that I needed a cold thing to wrap round it, so I damped down 2 tea towels, wrapped them round little juice bottles (so they'd be the same size as my wrist) and stuck them in the freezer. I'm sat with one on my wrist now, it's giving good relief. Plus a carrier bag to catch the defrostings. Gawd I do look a bu99er. I'm sure it's only muscular not boneular, unsure about nerveular, I've a couple of tingly fingers
Talking of how there's no darkness now cos of neighbour's lights and those hateful solar lanterns, this is what my garden looked like while I was up at silly o'clock -
No danger of me seeing a hedgehog eh.
OT cold out there with the northerly wind but it's blown away the humidity which is good. Sun's coming out too. Fingers firmly crossed for all the poor souls in Florida.. it's peaking about now according to my phone weather thing.I removed the shell from my racing snail, but now it's more sluggish than ever.8 -

Didn't know that about laurels, how interesting [ no, really, it is] Does it work for killing anything it's lying on or is it just ingesting? And it's not a junkyard, it's a collection of Useful Objects that will Come In Handy.
Is your friend deliberately goading you with pics? Pippy sounds like a perfect description. I actually really like those stones, especially that they corraled them in as if they would take off in all directions if left to their own devices
Farway, good to hear you're a bit better, wise choice to avoid gadding about in the rain for now anyway..Shame about the apples and pears, nothing worse than waiting patiently to be pipped at the post by birds and awkward fruit.ybe, hope your wrist is better, ouch.pp, that's a great picture, you've got all the clear skies going on haven't you? {jealous emoji, it's still raining here]2P, hooray to fining bulbs. Yeah, sodden is the new normal, but it's very dipiriting, I usppose not so bad with proper waterproofs though, I may have to bite the bullet and get some, trousers as well as a coat. That's a lovely sitooterie..Eat the sponge shells if you want them, someone else willNot much here today, dumpy bag has been dropped off for shed rubbish [ I am now second guessing myself as to whether I should go back through it for the newspapers to use as weed suppressant..we'll see. Too wet and cold for me at the moment though and the back door is wide open for the tiler to do his stuff so it's bloody freezing in here. I've done the compost this morning and I need to pick two very small Black Futsu [ hoping for a bigger haul of squash next year though...] Haven't eaten the apple yet, need some nice cheese to go with it.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi5 -

I've d/l'd the bbc app just to see what it says for round here -

Sorry I missed the laurel joke. I'll go back and find it, but that won't be the same, will it?Laurel leaves decomposing en masse will probably blot out any light and stop anything germinating, but nothing grows under the living plants either, for the same reasons. The cyanide in the leaves isn't concentrated, but people are warned against burning the plant and standing in the way of the smoke, or filling their car with fresh cut leaves and driving them to the tip recycling centre. In my experience, the leaves break down in a year or so, and where they were heaped-up grows 'normal' plants again. Sheep die if they eat laurel, but I'm not going to test if they will do so willingly. They don't eat foxgloves, and they've plenty of access to them here.Yes, walking friend is winding me up.It's a good sign. She hasn't had an easy time in the past few years. She didn't know there were grapes there till I showed her a month ago. Everything seems to grow better near sea level than it does here at 500', but I wouldn't want her soil.
'Barnhenge,' as it's known, has always been controversial. I suppose rocks are low maintenance. To me, it appears a backward step to confine the stones with steel like that. Our ancestors managed to achieve stability, and without the aid of diggers.
Sorry to hear the wrist is till sore, Bluey. Maybe give it another day, and then, if no better, get the bones checked out. I know, third world service will mean taking a book and sandwiches. It's called progress.Congrats getting 2 Black Futsu, taff. We have about 6 squash. It's not the slugs here that's reduced the harvest ten-fold, but rubbish weather.Incidentally, speaking of rubbish weather, when the stream rose, a day ago, it backed-up at Mr Canute's barrier for a while, and then, when high enough, went around the side of it, as predicted."There is no such thing as a low-energy rich country."
