Sovereign Lawn Mowers and Strimmers

  • which is why ive asked homebase  why are they selling such unreliable  , not fit for purpose products
Why are you judging the entire rang of Sovereign products on your own purchase?
I have a Sovereign petrol mower, its been faultless for around 5 years; that does NOT prove that the Sovereign rang is good or bad. Online comments are also a poor way to judge products.
My mower cost £100, it was the cheapest at the time.

The email says that the returns volume of Sovereign products is in line with others, presumably that's as a percentage of total sales. That may be skewed because a customer is perhaps less inclined to return a £15 strimmer that failed at 6 months than a £115 strimmer that failed after the same time.(I don't know if they sell more expensive strimmers)

I would agree with that , some people can't be bothered with the hassle of returning a £15 product after 6 months especially if they didn't keep their receipt , not everybody is aware of their rights after all

  • Im judging Sovereign products based on the 2 i bought...Both of the Sovereign products i bought didnt last long before they stopped working.... The lawn mower lasted about a year.. cost £40     and  strimmer cost £15  and lasted less than 4 months..... I could understand if it was say a kettle that would be used numerous times every day....but you dont cut your lawn every day do you ?  ..... Like Homer Home said...cheap products that stop working are more likely to just be put in the bin than returned to where they were bought.. By then , youve probably chucked the box and the receipt....

I am not a professional gardener, but I cut 3/4 peoples lawns, my own is too small to use the petrol mower. I also cut hedges occasionally.
I would buy another petrol sovereign mower. Electric motors seem quite reliable, as are four-stroke engines and two-stroke engines less so.
