How was you supporting yourself last year if you were making no profit from being self employed?

You can only claim New style ESA if you have a health condition that limits your ability to work. Universal Credit is means tested so claiming this will depend on your circumstances, living with a partner means you claim as a couple, your partners earnings will affect the amount you can claim. Savings of £16,000 and over excludes you from claiming.

New style JSA depends on your NI contributions in tax years April 2017 to April 2017, although self employed can't usually claim it because it requires class 1 NI contributions.
  • My partner works full time so I put his earnings into UC and it said £0. I have 2 children. Mortgage. No savings.
First year of self employment I just broke even (used savings from previous employment) to start the business.
second year of self employment - broke even again but also had a baby & was on maternity allowance
This is my third year of self employment & will be a loss.
I’m applying for jobs on a daily basis
  • I’ve paid all of my tax & national insurance up to date every year.
Prior to this I worked at the same place full time for over 10 years & was made redundant, which gave me the opportunity to finally go self employed, but presume that’s irrelevant

Depending on your NI contributions in those tax years i mention above then new style JSA maybe possible but it will depend on when exactly you started being self employed. For over 25's it pays £74.35 per week for 26 weeks, it's not means tested. https://www.gov.uk/guidance/new-style-jobseekers-allowance
Working for 10 years PAYE isn't going to help a claim here.

While it might not be what you want to hear taking financial risk (in starting a business) and having a baby at the same time is a very bad combination when you already had a mortgage, unless you were doing it on the basis that your partner's income was high enough to support 2 adults and 2 children if it went wrong, in which case that's the answer to "now what?"

In fairness to the OP, not every pregnancy is planned.
